I don't know much about video cards at all.  I just want to get one so I can use two monitors on my desktop.  Is this too much for what I need it for?

If you just want one for dual monitors, then yes that ones fine and also not a bad deal.
I might suggest getting one with a fan though just for good measures, not really neccessary but its still a good idea..

I have this one, which can be dual monitor too. But if you want dual LCD just make sure its a "Dual DVI"
