Started listening to the album on sunday for the first time and all I can say is 'wow', the album is incredible every track in banging, I cannot stop listening to it. The production on it is crazy, I would say the album is almost as good production wise as the Chronic 2001. This album should have been a massive commercial success, because I can't think of any album better than this coming out in 2003. Anyway what are your thoughts on this album?
-
i think its a very good album, best album tht came out tht year, very solid effort from quik but no its not classic or as good as 2001, but thts my opinion

--Props the Album is defo a good Album!!!
-I will say this..am not too happy with the number of guest on the album though..was really expecting Quik to to keep it minimum..But having said that..he Seemed to be able to turn that around and put together an enjoyable album!!
I really like the track with Jodeci
His Production on that album is subline!!!!
Blu!
-
Musically its most likely one of his best albums and was the best album in 03 or whatever it came out
-
That's one of the best albums ever period, on any coast.
And it came out in 05
-
Damn, I was gonna make a post about this album today too!!
I think it's got to be one of the best albums, not just west coast, but overall since 2000
same class as 2001, black album, and college dropout for me.
-
i thought everyone hated this? i love it though.

-
it's a really good album
not one of the best ever but its a classic to me, another reinvention of his sound
-
quiks albums never get their praise when they first drop for some reason...
it's a dope record, but doesnt have much mainstream appeal (i played it to alot of people, didnt get the kind of reaction black album or 2001 got), but musically it's great and intuitive, and quik is hungry on it... definetly a dope album.
cant wait for midnight life.
-
this album is nowhere close to being good as 2001.

completely agree...'nuff said.
-
Probably the best album that came out in 05 but still all Quiks other albums shit on Trauma.

True, Trauma might be one of the most underrated West Coast albums (and there's quite a few albums in that category lol) but Quik's put out at least 4 albums better than this one.

props - cant get enough of that album!
-
one of my favourite albums of the year it was released but im not sure if id go as far as to say one of the best West Coast albums ever. It is a very good album though.
-
Great album, classic in my book, but Quik has dropped better records IMO (Rhythm-al-ism, Safe And Sound, and Balance & Options are better than Tramua IMO)
-
i would agree that Trauma is very underrated and a west coast gem compared to everything the west is seeing of recent years... but yes, aside from a few dope songs and a bunch of very very good songs... all his other albums - Quik is the Name, Way 2 Fonky, Safe and Sound, Rhythmalism, Balance and Options, and Under the Influence i liked better... Trauma is a fuckin dope album though..dont get it twisted!
-
The kind of album where in 3-4 years it will be definitivly a classic 8)
-
It's a good album, vastly overrated on here though.

Yep I agree way overrated here
-
I think Trauma sucks... i just liked black mercedes, i dont remember the rest man, it was under avarage for quik and hip-hop

exactly...people should really speak wuts on their minds on the album...one of the best albums from the westcoast in history? c'mon man...are u serious? lol.
-
Trauma isn't even close to the top of the best West Coast albums but It was one of the best in 2005. I'm quite satisfied with the album. I would say it is much better than his two earlier album was.
Get Up is my favorite song from the album.
-
i love it. He should have won a grammy for this 8)
-
Yeah Dat!

balance and options & under the influence are straight trash imo i hate those albums...trauma is way more accessible to a greater audience.
but yeah quik is the name >>>>. all his albums
-
safe + sound> quik is the name imo
-T
-
hmmm i like safe + sound too, interesting statement T, i can def see your point, Safe + Sound is musically a genius' album 8)
-
This guy really disses Trauma. http://www.byroncrawford.com/2005/10/dj_quik_trauma_.html
-
lol just read the intro
DJ Quik, Trauma (Some Fake Label, 2005)
Most rappers come out of retirement because they realize they're miserable people with no internal lives and they don't have shit else better to do but sit around and polish their collections of clean, white tennis shoes. I'm assuming DJ Quik just ran out of money.
this dude really must have no life or hate hiphop....or both :D
this is funny shit tho:
Not that he's an especially gifted rapper, but it's nice to see him attempt to address some issues other than hoes, hoes and more hoes. Besides, we know he's actually gay anyway. Nullus.

The guy writing the interview is a moron. He doesn't know how to write a critical review. Trauma was a pretty good album, the features he choose were awful. AMG killed Game on that track, Game ruined it. TI didn't sound great. Should of put people like Hi-C or Second II none on their.

pretty funny though

To me it's probably the best West Coast album since Dre "2001".
