Title: Serious Question
Post by: --Vance-- on April 14, 2007, 10:09:50 AM
Is Detox coming in 2007???

I'm wondering how many people in here believe in a release this year. I know I should be patient and wait till I hear the first single, but really what do you think?

Let's vote

I don't believe, and most likely wouldn't be excited if it does see the light of day.

I actually did believe it at the beginning of the year, but its already late April, and all things point to NO.  So, no, I don't think it'll drop this year.  An album this big, specific details should be leaking WAY before the shit comes out.  Think about it.  We know absolutely nothing about the project, or even that he's working on it, other than the Bishop Myspace video.  That doesn't sound like a project ready to be released to the public in the next 6 months.

Exactly, every album that comes out nowadays, we know details about it, leaked songs, guests, etc. way before it drops. I don't care how careful Dre THINKS he is, something offical would leak.

Dre can't let Timbo get all the shine.

I put never ever. Not that I don't WANT it. But I don't think it'll happen. Not with 50 around.

like EDizzle said, it's already April, time is runnin' out and I don't have the impression that the album is nearly finished.

The best thing that could happen is that dre really delayed the whole project... I mean how can he claim for 5 years it's coming... and still nothing more than a youtube clip or a interview on a radio...

Last year I really thought it would happen... this year I don't care as much, if it comes it's good if not fuck a detox

regardless, do u think the quality could ever possibly live up to the hype that this album has generated over the years?

sure, everyone will be buying it, but will it be worth the wait??

I still don't believe it will ever be released.

Dre doesn't need the money and he doesn't really need the respect. Think about it: He has already impacted hip-hop more than probably any other performer and has produced two hugely influential 'solo' albums. He is already one of the figureheads of hip-hop.

I'd guess it's almost impossible that Detox could take that further. Not that Dre can't create a string of bangers, but to put together a CD that supasses what he's already acheived artistically would be difficult being that the label will almost certainly want a mainstream release for something with so much sales potential.

Why do you think it's taken so long? Dre knows, I expect, that whatever he does won't be good enough. The chance of Detox being less than expected is much greater than the chance of it meeting the hype that hip-hop - fairly or unfairly - has put on it.
