What is the definition of a "king"?
A rapper who pushed the most units? (then it would be Snoop or Dre i think, even though i see Ice Cube high on that list as well)
A rapper who has the most unique lyrics and/or flow? (then dudes like Ras Kass, Crooked I etc. come to mind)
Or do u mean a rapper who's had the most influence?? And how do u measure that?
I think if i base it on the last point it would be either Ice Cube or 2pac, since so many other rappers from all coasts/countries/states etc. imitated Pac and Ice Cube very well set the tone for gangstarap with his lyrics for N.W.A. and his early (all classic imo) solo albums.
Since we will never see how 2Pac would have developped and improved himself as a rapper as he was shot in 96, i will vote for Ice Cube, simple for the reason all his albums are topnotch imo, and yes i include both War & Peace discs in that catalogue as well.
Btw bumpin The Peace Disc right now, its really tight, the older it gets the better it gets, just like French wine 8) 8)

easily dr dre , you dont have to be a straight out rapper to be the king. The bottom line is everyone through out hip hop respects dre and wants to work with him. He also makes classics, if that dont make you the king of the west coast then im not sure what does.

Well, Dre still and always will have said respect, but he's fallen off in quality, and in quantity in the last 2-3 years, while Snoop still puttin out music every year.

I meant of people who are still putting out "popular" music now. Dre is, but he is in the background. Eazy passed obviously, and X and Ice T aren't really doin it anymore. Afroman, he had that good single like 3 years ago, but he's a novelty act, doubt many people would remember him.

Do you think King Tee is the King of the West besides his name there is nothing that connects him to a king of anything. He is as underground as can be, and a king rules the underground and mainstream.
I got much love and respect for King Tee for putting out old school classic albums and making Tha Alkaholiks etc. but in 2007, who the fuck outside the Westcoast heard from King Tee?
Planet Asia is not a king by far either. He has original songs, hot albums etc. but a king has to be known and be able to beat everyone else in the list.
It really comes down to either Cube or Snoop, my personal favorite is Cube, like i already said, but Snoop is cool too, he made the West a commercial succes and made the West bigger and more recognized becuze of that, and set the door open for a whole gang of other Westcoast rappers who came after him. Thats real boss-like.

Props for your post LOUDsilence. You are very wel lright. If you cut all the rappers who are not even close to being a prince, let alone a king, you will only get around 6 or 7.

In my opinion you have to be alive to be the king. That rules out 2pac & Eazy. After that there are only three people who can claim the crown: Dre, Cube & Snoop. They are the biggest names in rap game today, have a lot of respect outside west coast and have been in the game long enough that they can be considered as kings or even legends. But why did I choose Snoop? He is the one who is really representing the west today, putting out music and fucking with a lot of other west coast artists and that is something that can't be said about Cube and Dre. They aren't doing it in the same scale as Snoop anyway.

i think that dre is the king because he was effected alot of the careers of the people in that list. even tho snoop is more active than dre, i still go with dre. theres loads of legends tho - cube, snoop, quik etc
