Title: What Do You Think Rappers Think...
Post by: Murrow on September 15, 2001, 08:32:20 AM
...about this whole fucked up situation.  I know they probably think it's terrible.  But, do you think peeps like Dre, Snoop or any other rapper feel hate towards our government for lettin this happen?  I wonder if they too lost their family members in the WTC tragedy.  Has anyone read any responses from muscians, rappers etc.?

I've been thinking the exact same thing. I think they'll all prolly feel like it's a tragic thing & they prolly all wanna see a heavy retaliation (most of them being "G's" an' all  ;D ). So far I havn't read or heard of any responses  ??? I was thinking what if you know some of them were injured an' shit too, but I think they would've been mentioned as missing by now. A few rappers and other entertainers could easily have had relatives and/or friends in or nr the WTC at the time, lets jus' hope not though.

i know ja rule was on MTV the other day and he was in total mourning about the whole situation , even though we hate on ja it kinda does show he has a good heart  which i can't diss him for at ALL and he siad he was behind the Bush and this country 100%

other than that that's the only rapper i know of whose commented on this

They had a bunch of rappers on TRL yesterday. Most of them were on the phone, Ja Rule was the only one with the balls to show up in the studio. He was in complete shock.

Moby phoned in (the techno/DJ) guy and said he went on his rooftop in NY and saw the whole fuckin thing collapse.  Think that left a scar in his memory.

From mtv
Here's some artists thoughts

Like all of us, artists in the music industry have had their lives turned upside down in the wake of Tuesday's terrorist attack on America.

Superstars like Madonna and Janet Jackson have had to switch their concert schedules, but more importantly, many performers' whole way of seeing life has changed.

"To be honest, I've been scared to come through the Lincoln Tunnel," Ja Rule, who was raised in New York and now lives in New Jersey, told Carson Daly today on MTV's "TRL." "When I came through the tunnel [today], I saw a whole thing of Army [trucks]. It shook me up."

And while some now have to muster courage to take a simple 20-minute trip, other artists are rethinking their ways of long-distance travel.

Mack 10, who was scheduled to come to New York but was stranded in California on Tuesday, has vowed never to fly again and is buying a tour bus. Carl Thomas, who has been stranded in Chicago all week, agrees with Mack 10's sentiments and has canceled an upcoming concert in South Africa, saying he'll be traveling by tour bus a lot more now.

Although Jay-Z hasn't given up on flying, he too has been stranded in California since the incident and has thus postponed the start of his tour from Friday (September 14) to Wednesday. Jay was in Los Angeles on Tuesday shooting a video for "Girls, Girls, Girls" as well as promoting his album, The Blueprint, which came out that day.

"It's weird 'cause as a artist you look forward to your release date, then something tragic like that happens — that's the last thing on your mind," Jay told Carson via phone Friday on "TRL." "With every tragedy I believe it makes [you] stronger. If your faith is in the right place you will get stronger."

Moby, who lives two miles from the disaster area, said he drew on his talent for strength while confined to his home the past few days.

"Since that incident happened, my neighborhood was curtained off by the police," said Moby, who watched from his roof in disbelief as the Twin Towers crumbled. "I haven't been able to go outside anyway 'cause the air was just so thick with smoke. Everyone that lives down here, we have really sore throats and sore eyes from the smoke and from crying from being upset.

"Music and friends are the only things that have gotten me through this," he continued. "Wednesday when I was stuck in my home, I spent my day in the studio working on music because it was healing. Very melodic and tranquil music to provide a counterpoint to the events on Tuesday."

Cant believe about tha mack 10 thing, I mean cmon, How can u be a famous artist and give up on flyin?.........

America is GOING to have to get over the fear of flying, cause sooner or later we'll have to go on a plane.  I know I will, I travel by plane 2 or 3 times a year.

Theres no need to be afraid of flying ... and i think its stupid the way americea will only let in American Airliners into it 4 the moment like Delta, American Airlines , Continatal, United etc ... When there are reputable forgien airlines that they won't let in like British Airways , Aer lingus etc ...

Snoop was on Power 106, and he donated money to the families, and he said everyone should go out and donate money weather it's 1 dollar or 100 dollars...He sounded sad on the Radio...

Title: check out what kurupt, daz and bad azz had to say..

Here are a more statements from Hip-Hop artists who were affected by the terrorist attack on New York and Washington D.C. on Tuesday, September 11, 2001.

The Roots' ?uestlove: "I pray that all of you are truly enjoying life. If you learn nothing at all, learn this: TAKE NOTHING FOR GRANTED. For real. NOTHING. So what lies ahead for us? I dunno. I find it strange that they have covered the identity of the men who were down with this mission in Boston. Makes me think that America will find what they want to. I'm sure the parents of Chandra Levy wished the government could act just as swift and intense in the search for their daughter. Or what about the so called Atlanta Olympic bomber?"

RBX: I think it was a complete travesty, man. So many innocent lives were lost. I know there's a lot of political things' going of right now that the public don't know about, but as far as I know that was wrong and it shouldn't have been done. You got problems; you take it up with the person you got problems with. That all I got to say.

Kurupt: Yeah, we gonna whup they ass, they better stay off the f*ckin' streets and go home! And to the victims and their families, ya'll keep ya head up, we all ridin' with ya'll, it's gonna get handled. But there isn't really anything positive to say about this situation.

Sir Jinx: The scariest thing about that whole situation on Tuesday is I was in New York and I saw it, straight up Like, if you look at the footage and you see the debris falling out, them is people jumping to their death, man! That was a real traumatic experience for me! By me doing my DJ thing, and living my life, your life can come to a screeching halt by some other person's negligence, nahmean. It's kind of wild, and it hit me hard man. See, I'm a producer and I produce my music and that's definitely a mood changer, like that can make me make music about that environment. That environment is so dark and unknown; you don't know where it came from. So it's a definitely a vibe, and it was really hard for me.

Bad Azz: I'm like this man, it's bigger than us. It's out of our control, we gonna let God handle it and if we end up going to war and man kills some more man then its in God's hands. This life is something bigger than us, so we got to let go and let God handle it. It's like kids fight in the sandbox, grown men fight in the world. It's different beliefs; it's different views that people got, financial situations that people fight over. I don't feel that war is right but I don't feel like a person should get hit and not fight back. So it's a catch 22 right now, somebody done got hit and a decision must be made. It's just in God's hands now.

Daz: It was terrible disaster and like Bush said those who are responsible is gonna get their motherf*ckin' jaw knocked off! We all gotta stand as a people, do what we have to do, continue to pray for the victims, as well as ourselves and the enemy. America God Bless!
