I had the album way back before I knew anything about Islam..
but check out the song, "Insh-Allah" on the Still Standing album.
"Insh-Allah" is an Arabic word commonly used by Muslims that means in English... "If Allah Wills It".
They read the Muslim prayer called Suratal Fatihah (The Opening), Muslims will know what I'm talking about cause we have to say it five times a day.
-
Let me guess, you now think that they are the greatest group ever, right?
-
who gives a fuck what their religion is. will you quit with this bullshit?

I actually bought 'Soul Food' at the weekend because I found a used copy cheap and I've never heard it. It's great.
Well, it was great until I found out this news. Now I'm concerned that they might be terrorists, so I think I'll stop listening.
Only joking, of course, but I couldn't resist it.
-
oh for real brian?? ima go out and buy all there cds now......................................................................
but seriously another of these threads? i dont think anyone really cares about the religions of rappers or singers

LOL.. Bush writes the script that you live by. You live according to how he has defined the world.
...By the way, I edited my post above and added the meaning to the title of the track, "Insh-Allah".. it's a common phrase Muslims use that means "If Allah Wills It".

i think (it was pretty obvious) that he/she was being sarcastic. i, and possibly everyone on this board makes desicions based upon their own opinions, not because someone tells us to. i will happily listen to a muslim rapper if they have something good to say, like i would with any religion whether it be Christianity, Buddisht, whatever. but i am not focused on a persons religion as to whether i will listen to them. same goes for a person i meet in real life. i could care less if they were a Muslim, it would not sway me into love or hate either way.
Islam has been a spiritual and political force within communities of color in the United States since at least the 1800's when the Nation of Islam gained national attention under the dynamic leadership of Malcom X. Little wonder then that so many hip hop artists conscious hip hop artists who see their music as a tool for political and social change, have embraced Islam. A short list needing extension of Muslim rappers: Mos Def, Paris, Common, Q-Tip, Lupe Fiasco, and Jurassic 5.
The Nation of Gods and Earths gained a significant presence in hip hop with the emergence of the Wu-Tang Clan. All nine members, and several affiliates, are affiliated with the nation, as are other artists such as; Eric B. and Rakim, Jadakiss, and Big Daddy Kane. Lord Jamar, Brand Nubian member, released a 2006 album entitled The 5% Album. Islam has had a profound affect on the conception of hip hop because a large amount of rappers throughout rap's history have been Muslim. Most of these MCs are also peaceful and passive. However, the fact that both violence and Islam are related to hip hop has associated the two by proximity.
i never knew J5 were muslim, and frankly i dont care. i will continue to listen to their music and support them (if they ever release another album)

Ok, I've figured it out, the guy who made this thread is just an alias, a pathetic attempt at being funny or shocking. What else can explain continually ridiculous threads such as these.
If this isn't an attempt at an alias Infinite, then you truly are a sad human being

These posts are just not even funny any more.

Ya'll don't realize how backwards you are in your thinking. Take a look at all the other threads on this forum. There's a thread where somebody is wondering if Beyonce saw a film of Jay-Z mistreating a woman.
So now.. if somebody is allowed to sit around and spend his time wondering what Beyonce thinks about a Jay-Z video, and nobody complains about that. Why is it a problem for me to wonder and be interested in whether or not an artist is a Muslim?
-
Hey Brian how come you don't talk anymore about 2pac being God and starting that religion about him and shit. Those were the good ol days.

Boohoo! :boohoo:
Golden rules in journalism (and thus in internet writing):
1. Grab the attention
2. Create people's interest
3. Create a desire
4. Action of influence. (in your case, they'll go out and buy muslim cd's or whatever)
Okay, you got our attention, but we're not interested in your illogical thinking as for why an artist's religion matters at all. Let alone people feeling the desire to listen to their music for that reason, or even going out to buy these cd's for that reason. You lose. Boohoo.
I still would have loved to see a reply in that Attatchment and Addiction to Created Things Is Slavery... (http://www.dubcnn.com/connect/index.php?topic=142704.0) thread, but it seems you love to spread some messy messages and then run off, afraid of people's responses. Time after time your fallacies are being exposed, and we never hear from you again. Be a man and defend your statements!

well thats his reward from allah, the more he is rejected by society, the closer he feels to allah. it's a defense mechanism.

well thats because you do it all the time. you're like a groupie finding out a song is done by your favourite artist, now it's your favourite song.
just forget about it man, you wont ever get it.
-
But it seems like u like an artist/group only if he/they are muslims.
It's not only because of that. Although, it does make a difference.
Look at it like this... Why do people support artists from their own city? They feel some kind of connection or relation to the artist. This is no mystery, I don't know why ya'll have a difficult time with this. We like songs more when we feel like we can relate to them, and we like artists more when we feel like we can relate to them.

Time after time your fallacies are being exposed, and we never hear from you again. Be a man and defend your statements!
Sometimes when I don't respond it is because I don't want to repeat myself over and over again.
In the thread you are talking about, I was explaining how Allah is self-sufficient and is not in need of anything, and Allah gives benefit to those who believe. In contrast, I mentioned how if you are attatched to a person, that person has many needs, and therefore you may be harmed by being attatched to something that has their own needs and interests at heart rather than your own.
So everyone came on afterwards and said. "Well, your a slave to Allah". I didn't need to come back and repeat myself and explain that "yes, I am a slave to Allah, because slavery to Allah benefits the one in bondage, when on the other hand if you are a slave to another man or woman then you are being exploited".---which was the point of the thread in the first place.

Below I added the response you requested in the other thread you gave the link too.........
I don't like repeating myself, but you went so far as to post a link and asked me to respond in another thread. So I will waste my time and repeat myself.
Again, like I said in the opening thread. If you are addicted to a created thing, like a human being, that that person has their own needs and their own interests. So slavery or addiction to a human being for example, could lead to exploitation. On the other hand, Allah is self-sufficient, and only gives benefit to those who believe in Him. Therefore, I am a slave to Allah, and yes, my submission is slavery. And my slavery to Allah is not something that bemeans me or puts me down, but it raises me many times over.
You are also a slave to Allah. You are not free enough not to breathe. You also have to follow the laws of the Creator. The only difference is I willingly submit, while you make a false claim of being in control.
As for free will, from a human perspective, the Creator (Allah) had full knowledge of his creation before he created it. From a human perspective we have free will, but ultimately he knows which choice we will make.

^^ I replied in the actual thread - thanks.

Still Standing is a nice album.
It has three bangers on it.
The following tracks are all 10 out of 10.
1. "Black Ice"- Andre 3000 kills it.... this was when he was in his prime.... before he started thinkin he was a singer and playin giutar
2. "They Don't Dance No More"-.....the beats and lyrics to this are mezmorizing, Cee-Lo sounds kind of silly on it, but I guess it goes with the theme, he's trying to sound like an old man
3. "Beautiful Skin"- ..nice track giving love and respect to the great black woman
