Title: Songs that didn't live up to the hype or anticipation....
Post by: R-Tistic on May 02, 2007, 03:00:16 AM
What are some songs, mainly collaborations, that didn't live up to the hype of the names involved?

I'd say.....

Dr. Dre and DJ Quik - Put it on me....it got a whole lot of radio play, but you barely hear it mentioned nowadays because it just wasn't a classic song like we wanted it to be.

Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube (prod. by Battlecat) - L.A.X.....definitely a cool song in my opinion, but wasn't as hot as it could have been at all.

Timbaland ft. Dre, Missy, J.T. - Bounce.....track has a futuristic sound, and has a few dope elements...but overall, just wasn't a strong track like that.

I love that Dre & Quik track.. shit is dope as fuck to me.

That Snoop & Cube track I'll have to re-listen to but from what I remember it was a cool track.. nothing spectacular.. definitely wasn't good enough for me to have on constant repeat.

Timbaland track was cool but again I need to give it a few more spins...

Lollipop on Paid The Cost. Snoop, Soopafly and Jay-Z over a Just Blaze beat. It fit the subject matter but I was expecting something else with that.

Dr.Dre's work on Snoop's TBCT.

LAX kind of sucked.

Way I am - Knoc and Snoop
Cali iz Active - DPG, (great song, but didn't lead them to any success)

L-A-X

The last 3 tracks that have Cube and Snoop on them have been COMPLETELY out of left field for me. I always wanted them to collaborate since the early days, but really the only track I bump with both of them is Only In California. Go To Church was cool, Gotta Lotta That is aight. Same with LAX. I want some Murder Was The Case/Natural Born Killas gangsta type shit from them 1 TIME!

I agree with Timbaland, Dre, Missy & JT - Bounce, it just didn't get to me like the other tracks on the album did.

Oh shit, my bad. I thought it meant commercial hype. These songs had huge commercial expectations, and were supposed to hype the artists, but I don't think the songs achieved that. I like both tracks.

oo yea that's for sure. Cali Iz Active did very well for a Koch album though. And Elektra just fucked up the promotion for Knoc

Yukmouth, E-40, Crooked I - Kalifornia Gz

if Crooked I came better it would be impossible to knock but his verse was cool, not great like the other two
