So who's the best out of this fading group?
For me, it's Tony Starks hands down, no rapper pays greater attention to detail imo, and is one of the few artists who makes "themed" albums.
-
Iron Man was always my favorite out the group.
-
I personal favorite is Inspectah Deck :) Of course in 2007 there are members who are obviously better than him. But back in the day he used to be the one I was feeling the most.
-
GZA... I think Ghostface gonna win the poll though, his consistency as an mc is very appreciated.. don't get me wrong he's very good, I just CANT stand his voice
-
it's a close one between ghost and the genius imo, but my vote goes to tony due to his catalog being slightly better than gza's.i also listen a lot to other members like method and rae, overall they're a group full of originality and talent.
-
I agree GZA should not be forgotten about, i just feel like Ghost's discography is a little stronger, and a little more consistent. Grandmasters was the 1st GZA album I liked since Liquid Swords, but he's so good, he's gotta always be mentioned as one of the best member of the group.
-
RZA cant' go unmentioned either. He put the group together and handled most of the production. Great production at that.

Yeah besides Dre, he was the most sought after producer from 94-99.
-
i like the rizza the best as an emcee. beats aside he's a sharp mother fucker on the mic. i think he's lyrically up there with gizza but got the charisma of say meth.
-
Method Man
-
m-e-t-h-o-d man! 8) fuck how i miss the 90's,97 was a blast with wu-tang for ever!
-
Method Man
-
GZA easily! Ghost's a good second though.
-
Ghostface
-
1. GZA
2. Method Man
...for me. I like all of the dudes though.
-
meth nigga, METH!
-
GZA for me, lyrically hes the best out the bunch and the fact hes still got a high standard even today(Grandmasters by Muggs & GZA) is genius, GZA The Genius

Thats why I love Wu. Everyone of those motherfuckers can rap, everyone of them bring something to the table. They've all spit verses that leave you like :o.
No way I can pick, but I think without RZA there is no Wu and his presence is sorely missed on a lot of the solo albums. My current favorite MC out of Wu right now is GZA. That shit he did with Muggs was one of the best albums released that year.

Method Man and Ghostface Killah
-
Methical!
As for second, it's close between Ghost, GZA & Raekwon.. RZA is occasionally dope as well.
-
Inspectah Deck was my favourite, though i think Ghostface is the best member
-
I haven't listened to enough material from them, for from what I've listened to, it's a tie between Rae and Ghost for me.Jonny Blaze can't go unmentioned too 8)
-
ghostface and raekwon

:o School yourself!
I thought just about every hip-hop listener started with all them early Wu-Tang albums. Apparently not :)

Yeah man, I have such observations too, but for me, when it comes to the East Coast, it was Main Source, Blackstar & Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth's first albums that got me started :)
Let me ask you something tho - am I the only one having a hard time with RZA's production (at least for the most part)? What I'm talking about in particular is Only Built For Cuban Linx - mindblowing lyrics, but most of the production is kinda weird.Don't know, maybe it's just me :(
Same thing with Tical - I really love Meth's style, but production is again weird.Keep in mind, that's coming only from a couple of spins.Maybe it'll grow on me

That's funny.. I never listen to Tical - it's too dark for my mood. And I never understood what exactly is so damn amazing about Only Built 4 Cuban Linx - they spit a whole bunch of amazing verses and it's a great concept, but musically it won't move me. I'll put "Liquid Swords (GZA)", "Iron Man (Ghostface)" or "Return Of The 36 Chambers (ODB)" over "Tical (Meth)" and "OB4CL (Rae)" any day...
Anyway, just give it some time to grow on you - who knows...

RZA's early productions were very dark, and somewhat minimalistic. Ain't nothin pretty about his beats in the early Wu days. Unless you're initially conditioned to the sound, it's gonna be a few times to hear his work to even begin to appreciate it. If you bump 36 Chambers, listen to "Shame On A Nigga" or maybe "Can It All Be So Simple".
Found em on YouTube. Obviously they'll sound better CDQ, but hey I do what I can 8)
SOAN will hit you pretty much the first time - very melodic, but still raw as fuck. ODB and Meth completely rip this shit

CIABSS - very eerie sounding, incredible gladys knight sample on the hook. But just an awesome track

That's what I find so weird: I absolutely love Enter The Wu-Tang, while at the same time Tical is hardly enjoyable for me...
-
Method Man
-
voted for Meth too....followed by GZA and Raekwon
-
Props for postin' those joints Jrome.I was wonderin' about Shame On A Nigga since the Method Man concert I went to.Great track. Can It All Be So Simple is awesome, it's the first time I hear it.If production is like that throughoout the whole album, no doubt that what 11z say will apply to me too
