nas' it was written, is it worth gettin???? and can someone tell me if there is a review???? i need some opinions.

Yes, it's worth every penny. IMO I liked this joint more than "Illmatic", although I still think that was a classic joint. "The Message" is one of the highlights of this album IMO. Then there's a dope interpolation of "Sweet Dreams" called, "Street Dreams". Dre hook's Nas up wit some dope production on "Nas Is Coming". "I Gave You Power" is one of the hottest lyrical attributions Nas has given throughout his careers IMO.

This cd is pretty hot but cats sleep on it because they expected him to put out another illmatic. My favorites are I gave you power, the message, black girl lost, shootouts, and street dreams.

listening to this album now i appreciate it more than when it dropped....theres some real dope lyrics and concepts on there...not to mention the beats.

The beats are dope as hell and i really like this one better than Illmatic (cuz of the beats).
U got "the message" wich has avery dope beat, "whatch them niggaz", "black girls lost", "If i ruled the world", "affirmative action" wich has a very dope beat, "Nas is coming" by Dre.
There are so many dope songs on this album, definetly better than Illmatic(i know alot of people will be very upset about this)

nahhhh....it aint on the level of illmatic, seriouslly....it is a tight album tho.

It Was Written is better than Illmatic. I think people are afraid to say anything negative about albums like Illmatic and Reasonable Doubt because they fear people will lose respect for them--whatever.
Reguardless..It was Written is hot and its the album that pop Nas on the map on a broader scale. The song with Lauryn Hill is hot. The song with Dre is dope too.

Word, this shit was mad slept on. Over at Rapreviews.com they giv it helluva dissing, saying shit like, jus cos he brought on dope record out b4 it (Illmatic) he thinks he can jus' slack off, they totally cut into it production wise also. But like I said b4, I enjoyed this joint more than "Illmatic" beat wise an' lyric wise, even though I do think Illmatic was a classic hip-hop LP.

that album is amazing, worth every penny like someone else said...the whole cd is dope...no filler...plus it also had the number 1 rap single "if i ruled the world", peace.

Its a solid 4 mic album. It doesnt touch Illmatic, but its still worth getting. Alot of nice story telling tracks on this album.....

This is actually my fav Nas album...This is the first Nas album I got in the summer of '96, in the middle of that whole East Coast West Coast BS...I was riding with Pac at the time but I couldn't front on this album it was hot...Since then Nas has become one of my fav MC's although Nastradamus was very average...
