or is no one releasing any albums on the West Coast these days? What's up?
-
Ain't exactly westcoast, but you should check out that Kurupt Presents: Tangled Thoughts album, philly 2 cali

That's a good question. I was actually thinking about this myself a few weeks ago. Evidence dropped The Weatherman LP recently, but apart from him, all we got are some very underground releases (Celly Cel and his Gumbo Pot album comes to mind right now just to give an example), so yeah, artists are still dropping albums, but either they're extremely underground and thus they have a limited fanbase, or most times they are simply releasing mixtapes.
XL Middleton is pretty consistent with releasing albums though! But again: he's relatively underground. He's known in Cali, but that's about it I think.
There are soooo many artists on the West that I'm anticipating an album from: Kam, Damani, Clinton Wayne ("Desert Eagle" is coming this summer though normally!), G. Malone, Omar ("Sign Of The Cruz" coming this summer on Interscope/Geffen bitches! lol, I just HAD to promote Mr. O Dot Cruz in this thread), Young Maylay plus A LOT MORE!
-
No one is releasing albums.. that's usual in this period of the year
-
young maylay is sickkkk 8)

I mean generally.

Check out that J Wells / Kurupt project... that's worth a spin!
-
yup the j wells kurupt project is going to be in rotation all summer for me.

Not a Kurupt fan anymore, but if I here some good stuff about this album, I'll get it.

The beats are dope and Kurupt comes off smooth on this... seems real throw back to the Space Boogie era to me...

But it seems like we as fans are just sitting and waiting for people to drop new material. With all the rappers on the WC, you'd think that new albums would drop for WC fans every week.

Snoop's Big Squeeze and Mistah Fab Baydestrian

Can't wait for Mr. FAB to drop (or is it already out?).

sounds like west is very quiet.

theres no mainstream albums coming out though, and i doubt there will be a decent mainstream album to come out untill Jay Rock or G.Malone
-
cali isnt in the limelight so less demand less shit. i mean lotta dudes still making some good music but i dont see anybody changing the game like chronic, doggystyle, efil4zaggin, etc.

G. Malone says he's going to drop since early 2006, Lamont was signed to Aftermath in 2005. Still nothing. Crooked I (since God knows when)? Jay Rock? Ya Boy (said his album would drop in 2006)? Omar Cruz? Clyde Carson? Eastwood (2006)? Lil Eazy-E (originaly saying he'd drop in summer 2005)? All these fools who have gained decent followings on the West Coast and we are just sitting here waiting for their albums to be dropped. Most of the undergorund artists drop nothing but mixtapes. How are people expecting to get heard if they aren't releasing any music for us to buy?

I doubt bishop would make much difference.

I have high hopes for Guilty By Affiliation...although its almost 3 months away.

But albums like that aren't coming out from ANY coast...they just dont make them like they used to. Now people call what would normally be 4 mic albums classics...real classics are no longer done.

I don't care about albums released that are classics and change the rap game. I just want more albums coming out of the West Coast period.

Make much of a difference for what? Are you a fucking hater or what? We are just talking about a decent mainstream westcoast album coming out. I'm willing to bet that Bishop will drop a dope album when he drops. If you haven't listed to N*gger Noize yet you really should.

celly cel recently dropped an album?

you have to because the one is cause the other is effect. look at how groundbreaking, widely accepted classic, popular albums like chronic and doggstyle lead to the most activity on the west for a couple years.
