2001 is the only true classic, but it came out in '99. And even 2001 is a 2nd tier classic to me. The rest of the albums are great albums, but if they're classic then Predator & Lethal Injection are classic and you'll just keep on diluting what classic means.

nah, sorry. i was down with epmd, pete rock, lord finesse, etc. the older stuff and of course the oldschool when hip hop only existed in the east, but no, not today
-
2001 was the last classic released coz it brought a new sound which has been imitated by other producers... College Dropout could have been one but 2 or 3 average tracks and these stupid skits ruined the chances ...
-
Daz R.A.W. is as close as the albums mentioned about.
Dillinger and Young Gotti maybe.
i know several others but can't think of them right now...
Non west i'd call Masta Aces A Long Hot Summer classic.
-
Woss Ness - The Only Way To Beat Us To Cheat Us
Roscoe - Young Roscoe Phillaphornia
Snoop Dogg - Paid Tha Cost To Be Da Bo$$
WC - Ghetto Heisman
Tha Eastsidaz - Tha Eastsidaz
Messy Marv - Bandannas, Tattoos & Tongue Rings
MC Eiht - Tha8t'z Gangsta
-
Maybe not classics but great albums
Break Bread Mafia
Mitchy Slick - Triggeration Station
Cricet - Blue Damien
-

You shouldnt get heat for that at all...I dont think its a classic but GRODT was a great album, amazing production, and 50 actually delivered decently on the mic. He's been garbage since, but that shouldnt take away from the album. IMO its better than The Documentary, although not by much.
-
College Dropout like someone said could have been a classic without the cruddy skits and a few more hot songs. Hmm the Lupe album was hot but i dunno if you could call it a classic, same with Common's 'Be'.

Great album, but not classic.

Classic:
New Testement - Suga Free
Restless - Xzibit
Painkillerz - Kokane
Near classic:
E-40 - My Ghetto Report Card
Crunk Juice - Lil Jon
LNCL - Cube
-
Daz R.A.W. is as close as the albums mentioned about.
Dillinger and Young Gotti maybe.
id also say lil jon - kings of crunk and crunk juice
-
Not westcoast but one of the best hiphop albums ever released was in early 2006 by the Cunninlynguists entitled "A Piece of Strange"
Also Immortal Technique's "Revolutionary Vol. 2"
For the west I'd say Paris: "Sonic Jihad"
-
Restless
Philafornia
Informal Intro
I want it all
Terrorist Threats
Bang or Ball
-
i would say restless was a west coast classic, from the era of 2001, an amazing sound on tht album
