Man, i was not even a real big fan of him, especially after the lacklustre (for him) year he had, but its like this:
The league HAS NEVER seen someone this size with his athleticism and talent, and it gets scarier: HE WILL IMPROVE.....
He has a weak post -up game, which is ridiculous considering his size. LEARN TO POST UP LEBRON!
His defense definitely still needs improvement. ALTHOUGH HE MADE SOME KEY STEALS LAST GAME!
His jump shot is erratic and inconsistent. I NEVER FEEL LIKE ITS GOING IN, LOOKS HORRENDOUS AT TIMES
THe thing is, all these things can be improved with practice, and no NBA player (besides Penny) has ever peaked at 22.
Lebron will never score 81 in a game, but you have to think he could lead the league in scoring if he wanted to, although his assists would suffer. Which leads me to another point:
For Lebron to be at his best, he needs to be surrounded by better talent, as the best part of his game is his passing. Teammates love him and feel comfortable with him, which is why a guy like Boobie Gibson can come up big in the playoffs instead of being intimidated.
I originally thought Lebron wouldn't be able to handle the pressure when he first came to the league, and thought he had fallen off a bit this year, but in reality this is only the beginning. He is only the third player ever to average 27,6, and 6 three years in a row, and when he is done he will be the only player to ever do it 10 straight.
IF he leads his team to the finals at 22, he becomes the first player to do that with out a true second option. AND, the CAVS become the worst team to EVER make it to the finals, all because of Lebron (and partly because of the weakness of the East).

Daniel Gibson is good. I watched him play quite a bit in college. He's got all-star potential especially if he can really start getting some good minutes w/ Lebron. Imagine if they still had Boozer :o
Lebron really showed that he does have the brilliance that he's always been hyped to have in that last game. He needs to have that sense of urgency and competitiveness throughout the entire season though, and I'm not sure he's shown that yet. Maybe that last game was a real breakthrough and we'll start seeing a new side to him, one that can singlehandedly will his team to win. If he can focus that energy every night, he can be the best player in the league.
I think tonight we're obviously gonna see a lot more doubles on Lebron, and much better collapsing defense when he drives. Someone else on the Cavs is gonna have to step up in a big way in order for them to win. Detroit is easily superior from top to bottom. And while I really love Detroit's style of play, LeBron has really gotten me hoping to see the Cavs advance just to see what he could muster up against the Spurs.

its not even comparable. LJ played PF, LBJ is the PG, no way Larry Johnson could ever handle and distribute the ball the way LeBron can. LeBron is way better at creating his own shot also. Bad comparison IMO

Hilarious comparison man! Definitely your idea of humor, right?!!!? LJ's best season wasn't even as good as Lebrons rookie year, plus dude didn't have court vision at all, wasn't as fast, not a good ball handler, etc. Did yoo see him play?
And Jrome, you're right, I have a feeling that Gibson is gonna be a great sidekick for LBJ over the next few years, he is fearless. Between Huges injury problems and his general lack of clutchness, its surprises the hell out of me that Cleveland was even able to beat NJ

AND, the CAVS become the worst team to EVER make it to the finals,
Not weaker than the Heat of last season.
Honestly, LeBron has a chance, but I don't see it happening. And LOL@LeBron being the point guard.

Yeah a 6'6 power forward. He averaged a double-double his first two seasons.
Grant Hill (a 6'8 sf aswell) averaged 21 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists for a whole season.
Lebron is a great player but you guys are taking your lust for him a lil too far. Give the kid time to grow.

You are killing me NIK, straight killing me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Player for player, tell me, how exactly the Cavs are better than the Heat last year? I know you hate Shaq, but seriously! Sometimes you take it to far! Shaq may not be great anymore, but do you realize how easy he makes it for others with the attention he draws? Oh wait, of course you do, he played for the Lakers for years and won three playoff MVP's.
Wade= Lebron
And I don't know who said Lebron was a point guard, but he is a point forward sort of player.
-
^^Im killing you? LMAO. You're acting like Miami has been some elite powerhouse in the league. They're the worst champions of all time. This Cleveland team would take them in 7.

^^Im killing you? LMAO. You're acting like Miami has been some elite powerhouse in the league. They're the worst champions of all time. This Cleveland team would take them in 7.
They are CHAMPIONS!!!! They were the only team to win 16 playoff games last year ,and they beat the best team from the west. What about that is so hard for you to understand?
Oh, its because the Heat had Shaq and Wade, and they steal shine from you know who....
-
^^Why do you have to make everything personal over opinions, like you're used to losing or something? The Heat were underdogs in the playoffs last year and got extremely lucky. They faced a soft Dallas team in last years finals (as was proven again this year)...Anyone who doesn't think the Heat are some of the weakest champions ever must have NOT watched them play...PeACe
-
What also makes LeBron great is how he can live with the team winning without him scoring. When he realizes he's being defended too hard and he's not in the zone, his teammates get more room and he passes the ball well and lets them get the shine, like with Gibson today. You know some other players, wcsoldier prohibited me to name names ;D wouldn't allow a 47th pick rookie to get the shine in such a game and rather jack up shots...
-
20, 14, and 8 in a subpar evening for Lebron. The thing with Lebron is this; he doesn't have to force it, he doesn't care about scoring. We all know he can score if he has to, but he'd rather dish and as long as he is surrounded with shooters, teams will pay for double teaming him.
Some star players would've tried to shoot anyway even when faced with triple teams, but Lebron has more basketball sense than most. I completely agree with you 7even, this victory wouldn't have happened if certain players switched teams.......

Miami beat dallas , dallas beat san antonio and pheonix, pheonix beat the lakers. logic says Miami>Lakers. you thoght the lakers would win the championship last year if it had not been for 'one rebound',lol . so logic says if the lakers would have won last year they would have been the worst champions ever.

Word. Lebron opened up w/ like 6 assists in the 1st quarter. He knew the doubles were coming so he got his teammates involved. He makes his teammates better.

Of course you gotta nitpick like a little bitch; you know as well as we all do that Kobe does not get as much out of his teammates as Lebron, so you have to bring up rare examples. For the record, how did games 5, 6, and 7 go for the LAkers against the Suns in that series?

^^It went with Kobe doing the same exact thing and his teammates letting him down this time, followed by the media shitting on him, claiming that he let the Lakers down by not shooting enough and trying to involve the team too much. When LeBron is a one man show (Game 5), the media crowns him for it. When Kobe is a one man show, the media crucifies him for it. When LeBron disappears, it's cuz he has faith in his teammates and knows how to get others involved. When Kobe disappears, it's cuz he's letting his teammates down and quitting on his team. The media rules your mind. Even you can't deny this.

The difference between LeBron's team and Kobe's team is LeBron's team plays in the east and has a nice supporting cast with all-star caliber veterans and players who fit the system perfectly. Sorry, but your comparisons suck man. You can't truly tell me you believe LeBron is CURRENTLY as talented as Kobe and as well-rounded as a player, can you? I think your love for Shaq, resulting in your heavy dislike for Kobe goes a bit too far sometimes. Maybe that's not why you're saying this, but it seems a little weird that someone would actually believe LeBron is currently as good as Kobe...PeACe

if you look at the stats the cavs played just as well against western conference playoff teams as the lakers while the lakers played POORER against eastern conference playoff teams. also the cavs swept the series against the lakers. and were able to win more playoff series. i'm sorry that you can not admit that kobe is a weak leader and lebron is a better leader. i don't care how many point and how many steals kobe is more able than lebron to get, he has 0 leadership qualities. lebron makes up for anything kobe has over him with his leadership and team mate skills .

You don't get it, Jake. You're having difficulties understanding my main points, one of them being that LeBron and Kobe don't both play individually. They both have TEAMS, and while LeBron has the luxury of constantly winning games while not even being a difference-maker, Kobe does not. While LeBron has a supporting cast of verterans and all-star caliber players who can play great team defense, Kobe does not. While LeBron played the whole season with a team in tact, Kobe did not. I know you hate Kobe and everything, but lets be a little more rational before we make outrageous claims...PeACe

Odom is not a point guard and Odom is not a true big. He does not fill one of our main holes in the triangle (center, point guard). Cleveland doesn't have any holes in their system. Ilgauskas (center), Huges (point guard/shooting guard), and Gooden (power forward) have all been all-star caliber players and are all experienced vets...The fact that you keep ignoring all this boggles my mind.

Z is one of the slowest players I ever saw, sometimes he looks like he was on some pot. Hughes, being a 15 mil per year FA signing, is absolutely horrible for that signing and not a true PG. Gooden has a really low basketball IQ and acts far from experienced. LeBron does not have a All-Star calibre supporting cast. You're just being a hater, there is nothing more to it. You can come up with the same "arguments" all week and act as if nobody was able to grasp their amazing depth, when all there is to it that you're just wrong, while blinded by true hate.

No shit he has been having good games. I'm not debating this. The fact of the matter is that Kobe was too much of a diva to defer to the great Shaquille O'Neal... :loser: While he should have valued the luxery to play with such a dominant center so early in his career, he got pissed. I bet Kobe doesn't have a brother.

He's "ruining the game by refusing to shoot" when his teammates don't make shots. What's a win-win situation for LeBron ends up being a lose-lose situation with Kobe. I'm surprised, Antonio. LeBron is very good, and I keep saying this over and over, but I am very surprised that you're cool with people putting him on Kobe's level... :-\
-
^^It went with Kobe doing the same exact thing and his teammates letting him down this time, followed by the media shitting on him, claiming that he let the Lakers down by not shooting enough and trying to involve the team too much. Even you can't deny this.
the diference between lebron and kobe is .....lebron leads his team to victory.
All i need to know is this: who are these ALL STAR CALIBRE VETERANS???? Please inform me who is more talented than Odom who is currently on the Cavs? Hughes? The dude playing with an injury? Or is it Ilgauskas, a nice player but has no athleticism. Who are these all-star calibre players? Maybe Gibson in the future, but he is a rookie and didn't have an impressive regular season at all?
Ilguaskas is a center. He's an all-star caliber player. Drew Gooden is a power forward. He's an all-star caliber player. Larry Hughes is a point guard/shooting guard. He's an all-star caliber player...Who besides Odom (who plays a position we're stacked in) is an all-star caliber player on the Lakers? We didn't even have a SERVICEABLE point guard or center! Admit that LeBron has a supporting cast who can win games without him. Admit Kobe doesn't. That's all I'm asking...PeACe
Ilguaskas WAS an all-star caliber player. Drew Gooden has NEVER been an all-star caliber player, he needs to improve on sooo much. Larry Hughes had a few all-star worthy seasons, but I don't think anyone would consider him all-star material. You KNOW Hughes couldn't make his team a winner if he's the first option, Z's feet suck and Gooden just needs more experience.

SONNED.
Kobe is not God, man! Let's be real: he totally fucked up Game-1 of this years P.O. against the Suns, the most important game of the season. We started the 4th quarter by having a 3 points lead and Kobe totally fucked it up by shooting when triple-teamed with stupid fadeways and off-balanced shots. He shot 1/8 from 2pts and 0/2 from 3pts, with just 1 fucking assist.
The truth is that sometimes Kobe have bad decisions. And he makes a lot of mistakes too. LeBron has done mistakes too, and has had wack games too. But you're making it looks like LeBron is garbage and Kobe is perfect. And it's not the truth, imho.
Kobe > LeBron, but let's give LeBron props.

Hey, i've never said they're on the same level! Don't get me wrong. I wrote it and i'll repeat it: Kobe > LeBron.
You know what's your problem, imho? You're not wrong, but when you have to defend your point (example Kobe > LeBron) against people who disagree with you sometimes you forces the things too much, and it looks like to you Kobe is God and LeBron is garbage. It's not like that. I just wanted to make it clear. Kobe is NOT God. He has had wack games too, and sometimes it was because of his teammates not stepping-up, sometimes it was because of bad decisions by Kobe. But he's still the one i'll choose to start in my fantasy team. And LeBron is a GREAT player who is showing a good maturation and who deserves props. He's not better than Kobe, imho. But he's a true "Superstar", and now he deserves to be called like that.
Like i said in the other topic you can't stop the storm. So when it's raining you betta wait for the storm to finish. Then it'll be easier for you to have valid points. Right now it's LeBron James' time. Make a post saying Kobe is better than him RIGHT NOW and people will call you a hater. Even if you're right. That's what i'm saying.

13 pts-7rbs on th worst team in the NBA is eall star caliber? Do u have any clue how foolish you sound? Of course LeBron's team is better on defense than Lakers, why u mad at Lebron for that? BTW the teams would be about the same without their stars, because Kobe is a star, not a leader, the Lakers would play a more relaxed game without Kobe "dramaqueen" Bryant.

Ok then, why the fuck did you actually think the Lakers had a chance at the title if they are such a shit team. And NIK, we all know you are just trying to big-up the Cavs as you don't want to give too much credit to Lebron. I will say Gibson had a nice series for three games, and Olgauskas was alright at times, and Gooden hit some big shots, but Larry Hughes? While he MAY be all-star calibre, he IS INJURED, like your boy Odom.
Lebron averaged 25, 9, and 8 for the series, something done in the conference finals only three other times EVER. He did not "DISAPPEAR" at times like you said, he just knows when to take over a game and when to get his teammates involved; his passing and unselfish play is his biggest asset, ubt i think we learned he can takeover when he needs to.
As for Team USA, of course Kobe will be the leader. He is older, more experienced, and above all else, you really think Kobe would have it any other way? And you really think Lebron gives a fuck who the leader is?

I'm not saying they're all-stars, I'm sayng they're all-star CALIBER players, meaning they've either made the team or been on the ballot...Drew Gooden will always get you double figures. Ilgauskas is better than any current center on the Lakers. Hughes had a season where he averaged 22 points and 3 steals. And what about the experience on that team? Is it comparable to the experience on the Lakers? Do you deny that LeBron's supporting cast is a way better unit? Do you deny their ability to play team defense, something the Lakers heavily lacked in? Come on now, homie...PeACe
All that shit is irrelevant, Z was an all-star years ago, not anymore, not an all-star caliber player at all, same with Hughes. You consider an all-star caliber player to be one just for making the ballot? so Primoz Brezec is a pereniall all-star caliber player too?
Primoz Brezec had a 13-7 season... That is all-star caliber for a center in the east. Are you denying that LeBron's cast plays far superior team defense to Kobes? Who's better. Lakers minus Kobe, or Cleveland minus Lebron...Think about it...PeACe
LOL...There have been all-stars with worse numbers than 13-7, especially when it comes to centers. Primoz Brezec isn't an all-star caliber player, but he's played like one at some point in his career. Drew Gooden is borderline, Larry Hughes and Ilgauskas are both unquestionably all-star caliber players. LMAO@"Lakers play a more relaxed game without Kobe." LMAO@"Kobe is a star not a leader." LMAO@you failing to acknowledge the Cavs have had a real unit minus their star, while the Lakers haven't...PeACe
You are insane if you compare the Lakers minus Kobe to the Cavs minus LeBron. Cleveland is a complete team, even without LeBron. It's laughable to say the same about the Lakers without Kobe...If LeBron is such a great leader, why did he lead the USA Team to bronze not once, but TWICE? That's why we need a KOBE to come in and take the lead...Watch Kobe bring back the gold, like Jake said...PeACe

If I am so insane, answer this question: Why did you think the Lakers had a chance to win the title, let alone win a series against the Suns, or even have a chance at the SPURS!!!!!!!, if they are so horrible????
Lebron, at his age right now, shouldn't be asked to be a leader of a team; he is too damn young, but doing a pretty good job of it anyway, wouldn't you say? His first year on the Olympic team, Larry Brown wouldn't even play him (if you know ball, you know Brown does that to young guys) ,and last year Lebron just played a supporting role; he isn't the guy that seems to want to be the man, I will give you that. BUt, it does seem he is capable of it if he has to..............
If Kobe plans on getting gold, be assured Lebron will play a huge role as well man. Kobe has already proven he can't do shit by himself, so i think he will need some help, right? Having said that, Kobe will be the leader and top scorer, and they will win gold.
NIK: one thing we can agree on (i think): it would be DOPE to see Lebron vs Kobe in the finals! Until the Lakers get their shit together (players, front office, etc).............
And i have become a Cavs fan during the playoffs, but i still don't get how they why you think they are such a complete team? They play good defense, and have had some unexpected guys step up, but their supposed 2nd best player has been playing awful, right? I think it is a case of Lebron stepping up when needed, and everyone on the team playing as hard as possible to win. Either way, its been enjoyable to watch.
The Nets had a better team on paper, so did the Pistons, but the Cavs somehow beat them both................

Le"Bronze" can't be blamed for how poorly the US did... first off, they've been strugglin in international competitions before LeBron played for them, and you can't ask for a 19 year old to lead the US to olympic gold, ESPECIALLY when coached by Larry Brown...
One of the main problems of your national team is that there is no real hierachy...
And I am still inclined to see Kobe leading them to gold next year... that's just another we got the best players we win mentality... didn't do your national team any good in recent years. Not having superior players has never been the problem, so I don't see how Kobe is supposed to solve a problem when there is none of that kind.
-
the olympic team just needs to fuckin play some team ball and we'll be okay. we got 12 kobe bryants out there and that's how come we keep losing like the lakers. enforce team play and you got another gold on the bbq

Were you even watching the Lakers this season? Mihm didn't play for us. Look at the difference in talent in VALAUBLE experience in the rosters (LMAO@thinking younger players are better). Look at the difference in TEAM DEFENSE. It's very safe to say the Cavs minus LeBron win, Jake. Even a Kobe hater like you can't deny this.

Kobe will solve the olympic drought because he is a true leader. Put some real talent around him, and he will win.. believe that. How many of you can deny you've watched Cav games and seen LeBron looking like a role player for long stretches? Looks like he's gradually improving in that area, but he has a lot to prove before we can start saying he'll be the best player in basketball any time soon...PeACe

If Kobe starts jacking up shots like usual, we won't bring back the gold. He may get hot and blow up for 50 or 60 one game...but the next he could have a 6-31 shooting night and cost us a game because he won't give it up.
The only way to win is to have a team of team players. Ballhogs won't do it. Kobe is a phenomenal athlete, but if he goes in with the mentality that he is going to win the gold by himself, then we won't win shit.

chris mihm is still on the team isn't he? he has to win scoring titles to be the best player in the league? look lebron has lead his team to two straight 50+ win seasons, he's won more playoff series than kobe, and he's lead his team to the finals. also he outperforms kobe in many statistical categories. and here's the kicker, he's not even in his prime yet!

LOL. The Lakers leader in assists is "selfish"...Poor Odom. Jake, you're a hater to the fullest, and it's sad that you can't see this. But what's even sadder is that you hate your franchise player! I can't imagine what that must feel like. ESPECIALLY when you're spoiled enough to have the best player in the world as your franchise player. It's quite sad, I must say. And Lamar Odom is nice, but no way can the Lakers match-up against the Cavs without Kobe. Not with their lack of defense, not with their lack of a scorer, not with their lack of post player and point guards, not with anything. And you know this on the inside. I feel bad for you, Jake. This is all happening because Shaq left. On my life you wouldn't be saying all this if Shaq was still on the Lakers winning titles behind Kobe (had he been mature enough to do so)...

Kobe is not a leader because he can't win titles with Smush as the starting point guard and a hobbled Kwame as the starting center? GREAT LOGIC, JAKE! Kobe has had 3 seasons with a team not built to win (2 full ones). LeBron replaced with Kobe on this Lakers WOULD NOT make the playoffs. And yes, I'm a fan of Magic. LMAO@claiming Magic looked like a role player though. MAGIC DOMINATED GAMES, AND OWNED KEY MOMENTS. Even when he wasn't scoring, he was running every play and left his mark on it...The fact that you would even compare LeBron to Magic boggles my mind.
LeBron's team is built to win in the EAST. Replace him with T-Mac and run the same system, and there's NO difference. Is T-Mac on Kobe's level? You know, there was a time when the media would argue that too... :-\

LOL. The Lakers leader in assists is "selfish"...
wow he has .5 more assists than odom and 1 more than luke walton. why am i not all that impressed. kobe still equals selfish at the end of the night, he wants the ball more than he wants his team mates to have it.
Poor Odom
.
damn right poor odom he should be on a winning team.
Jake, you're a hater to the fullest, and it's sad that you can't see this
well fine you're a hater too, at least i give props to kobe than you do to shaq, wade, or lebron, or anyone who doesn't agree with the path of kobe, lol.
But what's even sadder is that you hate your franchise player!
hypocrit, lol. you didn't like shaq, what's the difference? you like kobe more than the lakers, TRUE THAT. i'm a laker fan above anything else. and Kobe bryant isn't winning us a title, so why should i like him? yeah he might be the best player in the league, but he's certainly not the best asset, it's like kevin garnett, even when he did have pieces to win he couldn't so why should i love him . at least when shaq came to camp out of shape and hurt, he still never let us lose in the first round.
I can't imagine what that must feel like
.
your feelings towards shaq....that's what it feels like
ESPECIALLY when you're spoiled enough to have the best player in the world as your franchise player.
the best player in the world was on our team from 1980-to like 1991, then we had the most dominant player in the world on our team from 96' -2004. so i'm kind of jaded . the only difference is those other two player brought us success.
This is all happening because Shaq left.
well at least you can admit it that kobe isn't winning because of this ^ ;D
On my life you wouldn't be saying all this if Shaq was still on the Lakers winning titles behind Kobe (had he been mature enough to do so)...
shaq on your team = titles.....remember one thing, the lakers didn't have to trade shaq, lol, just like they don't have to trade kobe, they could have ignored his request and won at least two more titles, but kobe had to have the team for himself and so did management.....bad choice, bad bad bad choice.

You're not impressed that the leading scorer in the league leads his team in assists cuz you're a HATER. LOL. He doesn't want the ball more than anything, he wants to win more than anything. You're straight up blind and deaf if you can't comprehend that.

Yea, he should. Too bad him and Kobe are the only experienced warriors on the team.

You admit to being a hater...I don't. I give my honest opinion. When I speak of LeBron, when I speak of Shaq, when I speak of Nash, that's ALWAYS what I honestly feel. But you admit to being a hater, so no more needs to be said.
But what's even sadder is that you hate your franchise player!

I liked Shaq when he was on the Lakers, up until the day he started shitting on the organization. And just like all the other bullshit you post, I DONT like Kobe more than the Lakers. Unlike you sticking with Shaq over the Lakers, if Kobe was traded, he'd be just another amazing player to me. Did Shaq win us titles in his first three years here? :-*
I can't imagine what that must feel like

No, the only difference is that those players had teams built around them to win. How dumb do you have to be to not see that?
This is all happening because Shaq left.
well at least you can admit it that kobe isn't winning because of this ^ ;D
Yes, because Shaq destroyed the contending team due to a.)selfishness b.)laziness c.)money, causing us to rebuild and pretty much start an expansion team built around Kobe.
On my life you wouldn't be saying all this if Shaq was still on the Lakers winning titles behind Kobe (had he been mature enough to do so)...

Kobe didn't have to have anything. Shaq doesn't=titles. Shaq with a contending team built around him=titles. Shaq in Kobe's shoes=plays 20 games in the regular season and Lakers miss the playoffs. Understand it. ACCEPT it...PeACe

I guess the only truth is Shaq does=titles. Regardless of all of your rhetoric, he proved it last year.
And how come you hate Shaq for dissing the Lakers, but are not mad at Kobe??
Kobe IS a me-first player, dude wants to win because its all about his legacy and proving he is better than Jordan.
And NIK, just because you "feel" something, does not mean it isn't pure, biased hate man..........that is the essence of a hater/dickrider, and most peeps would agree you fit those things to a T

How does Shaq=titles? Shaq hasn't won anything unless he had a team built around him to contend...And even when he did, he's failed time and time again. Kobe's had 3 years of being a leader. How many titles did Shaq have in his first 7 years leading a team? That's right...0. It's a lose-lose situation with you disgusting haters. If Kobe says he wants to win, it's because he wants to up his legacy, not because he's a winner. You ask why I'm not mad at Kobe? He's loyal to the franchise! The difference between Shaq and Kobe is that Kobe actually loves the Lakers, it's really his team. He'll do whatever it takes to win.. There's nothing more he wants to do than play for titles in LA...With Shaq, it was always about himself and his legacy (like what you're unrightfully claiming Kobe is about). Shaq cares about retiring with 6 or 7 rings, and he doesn't care what franchise it's with. He's said it himself, his main goal is to retire as an individual great, not a great of a franchise (Magic, Bird, West, Hakeem, Jordan, etc.)...Shaq is the most selfish player in basketball. Kobe is the most hungry player in basketball...he loves LA and would do ANYTHING to stay and have a contending team built around him...Why should I hate on that?

Even demand a trade and make his team look ridiculous in the process? What a great guy. He should have handled the matter privately if he loved his team so much; what he did made the front office look bad and obviously wasn't a ringing endorsement for his teammates either.

Even demand a trade and make his team look ridiculous in the process? What a great guy. He should have handled the matter privately if he loved his team so much; what he did made the front office look bad and obviously wasn't a ringing endorsement for his teammates either.
LOL@thinking Kobe hasn't put in countless efforts to handle the matter privately. EVERYTHING he requested was rejected by management. The fact is, Jerry Buss didn't care. The trade demand helped wake Jerry Buss up. It was a last resort. He obviously doesn't want to be traded, but what drives someone who doesn't wanna be traded to say so? Think about it...The trade demand will push the front office to give a maximum effort in building a contending team this summer. Smart move by Kobe.

Man this organization planned to rebuild the team gradually, and to let his young players develope into good starting material. That's basically what you wanted to do too, since you too was the one saying the team was skilled and we had to add minor things without destroying what we've built till now. Kobe single handed forced the organization to change their plans and to fuck everything up because he wanted himself to be in a team ready to contend now. The result is that the Lakers will probably fire Mitch without a real reason, they'll sign Jerry West without a real reason, and they'll destroy their original project trading Bynum, Odom, Brown and other pretty good players cause Kobe wants to win NOW. Imho a player should simply play, without being the GM of the team. If the Lakers wanted to rebuild gradually, he had to accept it. If he disagree with the plan, he should request to be traded and get the fuck out of the team. But to menace Buss knowing he can't trade you just to get his attention is not something that will makes me proud of supporting Kobe.
I'm a Laker fan, not a Kobe fan. If we have to wait 3 years to be ready to contend i can wait. If the owner and the GM thinks it's better for us to rebuild gradually i'll support them, and i'll never stop supporting the Lakers, even if they'll get eliminated from the Suns every single fucking years from now to 2010! Shit, there's an owner and a GM. They're the ones who gotta make those decisions. Me as a fan i can only support the team. And if i see a player full of himself who wants our project to be totally destroyed because of himself being in his prime... i really dunno who to support in this. I'm not happy at Kobe right now.

WOW. Then you're missing the WHOLE POINT. Kobe was being lied to. Kobe was being told the team was doing everything it can to contend, while Buss had already told Phil in 2004 of a LONG-TERM plan, which Phil only recently discussed with Kobe. Kobe had NO IDEA about it! When they signed him, they lied and said "were gunna do everything possible to build a contender around you NOW"... DID YOU LISTEN TO THE INTERVIEW?? ::) If you're planning to rebuild gradually, you notify your franchise player, you don't lie to him and tell him you're building a contender around him NOW. That's what I thought too. I didn't know the Laker management wasn't trying to win now, I though their goal was at least 1 title in the span of Phil's 3 year contract. Unfortunatelly, they didn't see it that way, they were laid back and passed up on countless trades, some of which I badly wanted to go down. Be happy with Kobe. He's pulling a Magic on Jerry Buss. You will appreciate it soon...PeACe

You're not impressed that the leading scorer in the league leads his team in assists cuz you're a HATER. LOL. He doesn't want the ball more than anything, he wants to win more than anything. You're straight up blind and deaf if you can't comprehend that.
how am i blind MOST of the lakers except luke walton and lamar odom and kobe average 5 assists.....everyone else on the team averages 1 or 2 assists, lol what does that say? that says that kobe has the ball in his hands MOST IF NOT ALL OF THE TIME. lol quit riding for kobe and start riding for the lakers for once okay. that's not healthy for a TEAM to have a player hold the ball that much (especially if it's not the PG).
Yea, he should. Too bad him and Kobe are the only experienced warriors on the team.
aside from the fact that most of the team that went up 3-1 against the suns last year were on the team again, wasn't brian cook and luke walton playing for the lakers when they went to the finals in 2004. they have some experiance they just need a leader now.
You admit to being a hater...I don't. I give my honest opinion. When I speak of LeBron, when I speak of Shaq, when I speak of Nash, that's ALWAYS what I honestly feel. But you admit to being a hater, so no more needs to be said
.
lol again so you admit you're being a hater , because you're opinion is almost ALWAYS effected by your love of kobe. you don't have any love for any player that has a problem with kobe or are compared to him ,lol . again i'm a laker fan FIRST . i have a commitment to THEM, i have no commitment to kobe, kobe is just another player we let have the reign as captain and did nothing with it, in my 22 years of Laker-fandom....Kobe bryant is a cedric ceballos, meaning i'm looking forward to a team without him than with him. Terrell Owens is my Franchises Wide Receiver (star wide receiver at that ) but i still don't have to like him, cuz i'm a Cowboys fan FIRST . you always bring up my liking of shaq ,like it's a detriment to liking the lakers (which it's not) but is this jsut you projecting your inner feelings of the lakers and Kobe? seriously you act like Kobe is first and the lakers are second.
you've always like kobe way more than shaq, that's cool , there were girls who liked robert horry more than both at my highschool. but the fact is Kobe wasn't the franchise player, shaq was in 2004 and you shitted on him when he demanded the same thing kobe is demanding. you fed into all the media hype all the way until you started hating on shaq's new little buddy dwyane wade. then you started hating on pat riley because shaq said he was the best coach he played for,it's ridiculous. what really amazes me is how you built the lakers up as winning 50+ games this year and how solid their core line up was ect. ect. and now all the sudden because kobe says they're scrubs THEY"RE a dleague team.lol your love for Kobe >>>>>>>>>>>> my liking of shaq. so please shhhhhh with me being the bias dick rider. i still like shaq, but like i said my favorite team is the lakers not the heat, but i'll root for the heat because my favorite player is playing for them, just like i'll root for the nugggets because of my other favorite player melo. and if kobe got traded i guarantee you that you wouldn't follow the lakers as closely , bet you, you'd lose A LOT OF iterest in the organization. and no shaq didn't win us the title the first three years, however his teams boasted very high winning seasons
shaq's first year heading lakers: 56-26, .683%, First Round win against portland, lost to Utah(eventual western champs) in second round(kobe bryant air balls you remember)
Kobe's first year heading lakers: 34-48, .415 %, no playoffs
shaq's second year heading the lakers: 61-21, .744, first round win against kings, second round win against seattle, lost to Utah in conf. finals
Kobe's second year heading the lakers: 45-37, .549, lost first round to suns after being up 3-1
shaq's thrid year heading the lakers (lock out year): 31-19, .620, first round win against houston, lost second round against championship spurs
kobe's third year heading the Lakers: 42-40, .519 , lost first round to suns the worst defensive team
shaq as a leader> Kobe as a leader.
No, the only difference is that those players had teams built around them to win. How dumb do you have to be to not see that?
yeah but they've won without that luxury as well. why are you backpeddling your 'one rebound away from winning it all' theory. how is a team full of "d-leaguers going to take it?
Yes, because Shaq destroyed the contending team due to a.)selfishness b.)laziness c.)money, causing us to rebuild and pretty much start an expansion team built around Kobe.
shaq didn't destory it, managment and kobe did. kobe wanted the team for himself or he was goign to the clippers. what don't you understand that the lakers didn't have to trade shaq. lol. also a selfsh lazy money hungry shaq STILL gets us out of the first round ,lol.
Kobe didn't have to have anything. Shaq doesn't=titles. Shaq with a contending team built around him=titles. Shaq in Kobe's shoes=plays 20 games in the regular season and Lakers miss the playoffs. Understand it. ACCEPT it...PeACe
too bad that's not the case. shaq does equal titles, he brougt an eastern conference title to orlando, 4 western conf. titles to los angeles, 1 (almost twohad not been for injuries) to miami, three championships to the lakers and one to the lakers. also shaq missed a record amount of games this season and when wade went out the heat played better under him than under wade. remember they were in danger of NOT making it to the playoffs, wade goes down and shaq is number 1 again and they start winning and take FOURTH seed, i don't care what conference you're in that just doesn't happen under fat lazy leadership. lol shaq gets more involved at the end of the season the heat start winning more , Kobe gets more involved and the lakers start losing more. do you not see the trend. do you not see that kobe has all the physical powers in the world but has no mental leadership skills. brains over brawn

What are you talking about? Odom has the ball in his hands in almost ever play. Same goes for whoever's playing the point guard...I can tell you've really been watching the Lakers Heat closely this season.

I never always liked Kobe way more than Shaq. I liked them on the same level when they played here together. Shows how much your ass knows though...NOTHING. LMAO@me losing interest in the Lakers. You should come see my room, son. The fact is, Shaq asked to be traded because he was selfish and had no love for the Lakers or LA. Kobe asked to be traded because he loves the Lakers and LA and wants them to do something ASAP. If Kobe was Shaq, he would have been LONG GONE already. The problem is that you fail to realize this. There is no media hype, what happened with Shaq happened, the media hype is the opposite of what I (and Laker insiders) have been saying and writing about (Shaq being a big, selfish, spoiled baby, only interested in upping his personal status/legacy). The Lakers definitely coulda won 50 games this year...But by the end of the season, we DID look like a D-League team (minus Kobe and Odom). What's so hard to get? Also, don't forget, Shaq stepped into a team that was already playoff-bound, and he didn't even push them over the top until Kobe started developing into a star. Yes, because Shaq destroyed the contending team due to a.)selfishness b.)laziness c.)money, causing us to rebuild and pretty much start an expansion team built around Kobe.

It's PATHETIC to judge someone's leaderships skills when they're in Kobe's shoes. Kobe is the best leader in the league. You know why? BECAUSE NOT ONE OTHER INDIVIDUAL PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE WOULD HAVE LED THESE LAKERS INTO THE PLAYOFFS. What don't you get about that? What don't you get in the obviousness of you being a major Kobe hater? Shaq only won shit with a superstar guard paving the way...Shaq never even won ONE title as the clear-cut leader...PeACe

wow, you're not getting huh? kobe holding the ball that much is more BAD than good for his team, hence the playoffs and regular season records (ESPECIALLY after the all star break when kobe started scoring so much)
LMAO@BRIAN COOK...And Ankless Luke. Something else, Jake... something else.
again HOW many players were there for last year's almost upset? that experience should have carried over to this years' playoffs....especially since they were facing the suns once again. but why didn't it? they looked more lost out there than last year, it looked like the only team that learned anything from last year was the fuckin suns. the suns, a team that doesn't play defense and is predictable as watching a stop watch go from 1 to 2 ,lol.
[You just said Kobe is a Cedric Ceballos. :stupid:
i like how you ignored the point. kobe isn't shit to me. he's on the same love level as cedric ceballos. meaning i'm looking forward to winning without him than with him. he could jack up 101 point for the whole season and it won't mean jack shit to mean unless we get w's. we're obviously not getting those with kobe, and probably never will because he's proved for 10 years that he is obviously not a leader, he's just meant to be a hand gun for a more dominany player.
I never always liked Kobe way more than Shaq. I liked them on the same level when they played here together. Shows how much your ass knows though...NOTHING. LMAO@me losing interest in the Lakers. 1. you were always a kobe bryany fan first, shaq fan second (at most). that isn't even debatable. shaq asked to be traded because he hated mitch cup-check, and was pissed at jerry buss, he bitched about management just like kobe is  he was also frustrated with kobe , who was trying with everything in his power to take over the team , kobe wasn't ready in 2004 to be the leader, shaq was still in the twilight of his prime, but in his prime still non the less. if management and players at that time were smart enough to see, in the long run everyone would have gotten what they wanted within two years. but everyone involved was being indignant. shaq shouldn't have asked for an extention (meaning he wanted to stay with the lakers) but seriously you don't trade away that leadership that is FOR SURE (you can't argue that), and take a gamble on a player who has yet to proove that worth. he's just stats .and shaq was traded for three core players of that playoff team. that's like these lakers trading for shaq, getting rid of lamar odom, kwame brown, luke walton and brian cook. the heat traded ALOT for shaq. and shaq took them to a higher level. you make that kind of trade with any other player and team you don't get the same result. and even if your theory is right that shaq has always played in an "ideal" situation, why are they able to get and keep such quality players with such a high contract from shaq? simple because players know they can win with shaq. people like malone payton, walker, williams, e. jones, want to play under his leadership. lol Shaq > kobe once again.
Really? Shaq was winning without a contending team built around him? Shaq won something without a superstar guard to walk him through every play? WHEN?!
Penny walked Shaq into the finals? are you daring to say that, shaq was leading that team, not penny. Kobe Lead shaq to the finals four times? excuse me who was performing the highest all four times ?? you can make an argument for wade last year, but the heat were one game away from facing the spurs in the finals with Shaq at the helm (then both shaq and wade got injured) so your theory only applies 1 out of the six times shaq has appeared in the finals
Right...So your ass still blames Kobe, even though SHAQ HIMSELF admitted it was purely manegement's decision. GOOD SHIT, Jake. You're not a hater at all. ::)
management was the primary source of it, but dont' pretend that kobe didn't play a part of it. kobe was the one saying he didn't want to come back if shaq was still on the team. he was the one wanting the sole leadership role, if kobe wanted to win so bad why didn't he protest trading shaq. fact of the matter is this shaq and kobe didn't get along because from shaq's perspective he was still the most dominant player in the league, that is not debatable. he was still able to lead the lakers to the finals and attract key role players to the team becuase after jerry west left mtich wasn't doing a very good job. at the same time he was having to deal with kobe trying to prematurly take over the team. kobe wasn't ready then and he's not ready now, kobe is NOT a leader, if hisotry has taught us anything it is that kobe is just a gun for another player. shaq wanted a contract extention becuase he felt that he wasn't being recognized enough by the organization so his response was to test dr. buss to see what side of the fense he was on. dr. buss was too in love with kobe, so in love that he was all too happy to trade shaq to keep kobe in town. kobe still plays a role in this because he was all too eager to let this happen. now kobe is in the SAME EXACT POSITION SHAQ WAS IN, and shaq is sitting back saying i told you so. so now we have kobe and shaq on the same page .......wow you mean it was THAT easy, all kobe had to do was see it from shaq's perspective and they would have been on the same page. THAT EASY. kobe knows it was a mistake to trade shaq, the city of los angeles knows that and everywhere else knows that. now it's too late the only thing left to do is try for another 10-11 years to get back to glory. it's not happening with kobe. point blank simples as that.
Shaq only won shit with a superstar guard paving the way...Shaq never even won ONE title as the clear-cut leader...PeACe
the fact of the matter is this, i have seen players in kobe's shoes. shaq , i'll use shaq once again. in his rookie season he took the worst team in the league to a .500 record. this was in the Eastern conference at a time when the east was a power house conference with the jordan bulls. Kobe has the luxury still of having the best coach possibly EVER to guide him and he still can't manage. shaq had brian hill lol. there's other examples of players in worse roles but i like to stick with shaq. Kobe also has the luxury of playing with an awesome player like Odom. Odom >>>>>>>nick anderson, scott skiles, dennis scott, donald royal, john koncak, brian shaw, ect. lol
-
What are you talking about? Odom has the ball in his hands in almost ever play. Same goes for whoever's playing the point guard...I can tell you've really been watching the Lakers Heat closely this season
.
wow, you're not getting huh? kobe holding the ball that much is more BAD than good for his team, hence the playoffs and regular season records (ESPECIALLY after the all star break when kobe started scoring so much)
WOW. What part of "there. aren't. enough. options. on. the. Lakers." don't you get? It isn't Kobe's preference to bust his ass and do all the work, genius.
LAST YEARS "ALMOST UPSET" WAS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENTY SCENERIO. If you truly watched the Lakers all season, you wouldn't even compare. In '06, the team was healthy, everyone was on the same page, despite the lack of talent, Kobe willed the team to excel. The team, as a group, went into the playoffs with an 11-3 record in their previous 14. This year, most of our players were forcing their bodies to play, and pretty much everyone was coming off of an injury. Odom just came back, Luke just came back, Kwame barely played all season and wasn't even supposed to play in the playoffs...A disaster...LOL@comparinng the '07 season to the '06 one.
Good thing Kobe is just entering his prime and has a great chance of proving you wrong. Too bad for you, though, Shaq is way out of his prime and will never be able to prove that he can win a championship without a superstar guard paving the way.
1. you were always a kobe bryany fan first, shaq fan second (at most). that isn't even debatable. shaq asked to be traded because he hated mitch cup-check, and was pissed at jerry buss, he bitched about management just like kobe is  he was also frustrated with kobe , who was trying with everything in his power to take over the team , kobe wasn't ready in 2004 to be the leader, shaq was still in the twilight of his prime, but in his prime still non the less. if management and players at that time were smart enough to see, in the long run everyone would have gotten what they wanted within two years. but everyone involved was being indignant. shaq shouldn't have asked for an extention (meaning he wanted to stay with the lakers) but seriously you don't trade away that leadership that is FOR SURE (you can't argue that), and take a gamble on a player who has yet to proove that worth. he's just stats .and shaq was traded for three core players of that playoff team. that's like these lakers trading for shaq, getting rid of lamar odom, kwame brown, luke walton and brian cook. the heat traded ALOT for shaq. and shaq took them to a higher level. you make that kind of trade with any other player and team you don't get the same result. and even if your theory is right that shaq has always played in an "ideal" situation, why are they able to get and keep such quality players with such a high contract from shaq? simple because players know they can win with shaq. people like malone payton, walker, williams, e. jones, want to play under his leadership. lol Shaq > kobe once again.
I was always a LAKER FAN first...Unlike you, who admitted to being a bigger Shaq fan than a Laker fan. Shaq didn't know when his time was up...Imagine Magic Johnson entering his prime and Kareem not knowing when his time was up. What a disaster that woulda' been. Good thing Kareem was a little smarter and A LOT more mature than Shaq, otherwise, this same shit woulda been happening to Magic in the 80's...
Again, remind me when Shaq won something that MATTERED without a superstar guard paving the way and setting him up on every play? Can you imagine how disgustingly shitty Shaq would look on a team like the Grizzlies? Penny, at one point, was considered the best perimeter player in the league. The Magic had the best 1-2 punch in the league, before Shaq and his immaturity went and fucked that up as well...When Shaq led the Heat, they failed. When he realized he needed to back down and let Wade take over, they won...When has Shaq won something as a "leader" without Kobe?
Right...So your ass still blames Kobe, even though SHAQ HIMSELF admitted it was purely manegement's decision. GOOD SHIT, Jake. You're not a hater at all. ::)

But what did Shaq want? $30 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR! DISGUSTING! A fat, out of shape, majorly subsiding Shaq, who refuses coaches orders of losing weight, dieting, conditioning, training, and insists on healing his fucking toe during "company time" deserves that? Kobe had no involvement in Shaq's immaturity whatsoever. Kobe wasn't even re-signed yet with the Lakers, how the hell do you want him to worry about Shaq?...especiall when Shaq can't even get over the jealousy issues he has with Kobe taking over...Why can't you see that Shaq fucked the Lakers? Why can't you see that Shaq is a big asshole and a fucking baby? He did the same thing to Orlando...Have you read ANY books on Shaq, or books by people close to him describing his character? He's your idol, I'd look into this if I was you...

Good thing Kobe is just entering his prime and has a great chance of proving you wrong. Too bad for you, though, Shaq is way out of his prime and will never be able to prove that he can win a championship without a superstar guard paving the way.
i'm sure shaq's legacy of leading and winning will always eclipse kobe's 10 fold to the 10th power, lol . jordan never won a championship without a superstar small forward, so what! however kobe hasn't won a single playoff series without shaq , and that says alot more negative things about kobe's legacy than shaq "never winning a ring without a superstar guard". shaq was penny's leader. shaq was kobe's leader. and in miami so far it's been split between wade and shaq. they won with shaq the first year and the won with wade the second year. this year they won more with shaq than with wade. so really your theory doesn't make any sense. and btw hasn't kobe BEEN entering his prime for the past 5 years now....lol kobe has been playing at the same high level now for 5 years, the only thing left for him to develope is a better team and leadership mentality. until he develops that, he'll always be like elgin baylor, all stats. his three rings will be Courtesy of shaquill O'neal. your welcome

lol i never seriously admitted that i was a bigger shaq fan than laker fan, lol. anywyas after that laugh, with karrem and magic magic didn't take over til kareem was past his prime, it was still kareems's team until kareem went over the hill. that's when the torch was passed. remember there was bigger gap of age. 13 years to be exact so by the time magic was coming into his prime kareem was already ready to pass the tourch. however with shaq and kobe there was a smaller gap of age. 6 or 7 years. meaning in 2004 shaq was STILL in his prime. shaq didn't go over the hill until after the 2004-2005 (when he almost beat nash for the mvp .....again). Kobe is still trying to figure out how to lead a team. why would shaq, who was still in his prime, and a much much much more established leader give ranks to kobe. that should never of been an issue. Kobe should have waited til shaq's dominance reign was over. to start any of this. kobe showed MORE immaturaty than shaq here IMO. this would be like me trying to take over as CEO of Microsoft after i get my MBA. kobe wanted to much too soon and now he's got what he wants and can't figure out what he wants to do with it. Kobe under Shaq =championship, Kobe without Shaq =not even a playoff series win.

it's obvious you just got into basketball. shaq was on the losingest team in the nba , he turned them around and made them a .500 team. without a guard. that right there says something. the lakers (before kobe got big) won more as well when he arrived (eddie jones and nick van exel were not superstars), if anything shaq has made those players careers. they benefited more with him being on the team than he benefitted from them. Shaq +______ =wins, Jordan+________ = wins. the equation isn't that hard . shaq like jordan made his teammates better no matter their skill level. give shaq/jordan a good player with a little bit of skill and they'll give you back an all star. put shaq in his prime on the grizzlies. he'd tear it up with gasol, miller, stoudimire, and swift. i'm not saying they'd be the NBA champions right away but they'd finish 4th 5th or 6th and at least make it out of the first round. lol. after shaq left did penny live up to the hype? yes there were injuries, but if we're using injuries as a crutch here shaq's had JUST as many. and when he came back he always lived up to the hype. even this year when he came back and lead the heat back into the playoffs
Uhhh, Kobe never said he didn't wanna come back if Shaq was on the team. :stupid:...He's the one who said in his exit interview that he wouldn't mind playing alongside Shaq for the rest of his career... lol you know and i know kobe wasn't coming back if shaq was there leading the lakers, plain and simple, also someone get me that quote from kobe saying what i just put. also quit being a "hater" shaq brought your team more wins with his 'lazy' 'immature' leadership than kobe. get off the kobe wagon son, it's going no where fast. shaq could be the world's biggest ass hole after adolf hitler and i wouldn't care, he brought my team the trophy thrice and got us more wins than kobe who can't make up his mind on what he wants to do.

penny didn't come to the magic until the year after shaq's rookie year where they went from the worst team in the league to .500. they went from boston celtics satus to Golden state status, then the next year with penny averaging what ? 14 15 points playing like a rookie, they won a few more games and so on shaq was always the leader, penny was like lamar odom to kobe. lol . and for the record the best 1 two punch in 93-94 was stockton malone, then in 94-95 was hakeem and drexler. lol then the next year it was jordan and pippen. shaq was always the unquestioned leader of that team, when shaq went down i believe at the begininng of the season for the 95-96 season penny did lead the magic to a good record , however other instances he failed miserably so don't think that Penny was the reason for the success. dont' think kobe was the reason for the success. don't think wade was the lone reason for the success, because when you analyse it, shaq was the major factor, the nucleus to it all. again shaq = championships and wins. heat with shaq> heat withouth, lakers with shaq> lakers without, magic with shaq> magic without

Yo Don, do what I've (and MANY others) have done, and just don't respond to NIK. He doesn't even believe what he is saying, so i guess you just have to laugh at him or ignore him. Ever been around a 2 year old? They do stupid shit to get attention, and they will keep doing it until people ignore them. Maybe if we ignore NIK he will go away.
There is no way NIK truly belives that Shaq wasn't the key to the Magic and to the Lakers teams either. If anything, Shaq winning last year proves he doesn't need Kobe as much as Kobe needs him, right? NIK knows this, it hurts his feelings, and thus his continuos denial. Peace

Odom just came back, Luke just came back, Kwame barely played all season and wasn't even supposed to play in the playoffs...A disaster...LOL@comparinng the '07 season to the '06 one.
aha so you admit: that these players are not D-leaguers, the problem was injries then, kobe was wrong to blame his teammates, management did a good job building around kobe......lol
We could manage without the injuries, but we OBVIOUSLY weren't 100% built to contend. We had no one to run the point! No true big! Before the injuries, we had depth to somewhat compensate for that, but once reality set in, no way..
How many years has Kobe played without Shaq yet? How many of those years did he have an all-star to play alongside?...Now how many years did Shaq play without Kobe? How many of those years did he have an all-star to play alongside? Thank you very much. 8)
Good thing Kareem was a little smarter and A LOT more mature than Shaq, otherwise, this same shit woulda been happening to Magic in the 80's...
lol i never seriously admitted that i was a bigger shaq fan than laker fan, lol. anywyas after that laugh, with karrem and magic magic didn't take over til kareem was past his prime, it was still kareems's team until kareem went over the hill. that's when the torch was passed. remember there was bigger gap of age.
WE LOST TWO CONSECUTIVE YEARS WITH SHAQ IN THE LEADING ROLE. In fact, Phil called for the offense to run through Kobe in 03-04, but Shaq couldn't have it. Remember? He wouldn't "play defense or rebound" if the offense didn't run through him... It was time for Shaq to step down and let the offense run through Kobe and he couldn't take it. Too bad you love Shaq too much to see this.
When he realized he needed to back down and let Wade take over, they won...When has Shaq won something as a "leader" without Kobe?
it's obvious you just got into basketball. shaq was on the losingest team in the nba , he turned them around and made them a .500 team. without a guard. that right there says something. the lakers (before kobe got big) won more as well when he arrived (eddie jones and nick van exel were not superstars), if anything shaq has made those players careers. they benefited more with him being on the team than he benefitted from them.
The only thing obvious is that you have no fucking clue what you're talking about. LMAO@Eddie Jones benefitting from Shaq. You're a joke, Jake. Then people wonder why I tell you to read Laker books. Read some books on what were discussing, and you wont be making all these irrational claims. Jordan made his teammates better? Penny Hardaway took the Magic to the playoffs on his own as well...Big fuckin whoop. JUST ADMIT SHAQ HASN'T DONE SHIT ON HIS OWN.
Uhhh, Kobe never said he didn't wanna come back if Shaq was on the team. :stupid:...He's the one who said in his exit interview that he wouldn't mind playing alongside Shaq for the rest of his career... He's your idol, I'd look into this if I was you...
lol you know and i know kobe wasn't coming back if shaq was there leading the lakers, plain and simple, also someone get me that quote from kobe saying what i just put. also quit being a "hater" shaq brought your team more wins with his 'lazy' 'immature' leadership than kobe. get off the kobe wagon son, it's going no where fast. shaq could be the world's biggest ass hole after adolf hitler and i wouldn't care, he brought my team the trophy thrice and got us more wins than kobe who can't make up his mind on what he wants to do.
Yea, because the Lakers wouldn't have had enough money for Kobe with Shaq's selfish ass demands! You tend to fiorget Shaq/ & Kobe pretty much led the way 50/50 in the threepeat years. Shaq never got us shit on his own, and it's a shame that you can't see that.
A .500 record?! OMG, WOW! The fact of the matter is, Magic had the best 1-2 punch in the league before they started doing anything serious. Lakers had the best 1-2 punch in the league before they started doing anything serious. WHEN has Shaq won anything alone? When has Shaq led a team with no other all-star on it to success? PLEASE REMIND ME, JACOB.
penny didn't come to the magic until the year after shaq's rookie year where they went from the worst team in the league to .500. they went from boston celtics satus to Golden state status, then the next year with penny averaging what ? 14 15 points playing like a rookie, they won a few more games and so on shaq was always the leader, penny was like lamar odom to kobe. lol . and for the record the best 1 two punch in 93-94 was stockton malone, then in 94-95 was hakeem and drexler. lol then the next year it was jordan and pippen. shaq was always the unquestioned leader of that team, when shaq went down i believe at the begininng of the season for the 95-96 season penny did lead the magic to a good record , however other instances he failed miserably so don't think that Penny was the reason for the success. dont' think kobe was the reason for the success. don't think wade was the lone reason for the success, because when you analyse it, shaq was the major factor, the nucleus to it all. again shaq = championships and wins. heat with shaq> heat withouth, lakers with shaq> lakers without, magic with shaq> magic without
Again, failing to give credit where credit is due because you love Shaq so much. Just remember, the question was alway "will Shaq retire with no rings?" before Kobe broke into superstar status...PeACe

Peace
Moron. The Heat were built to win. The Lakers weren't built to win...Do you believe what YOU say? LOL. :grumpy:

No shit...This is the kind of thread that needs to be locked...nobody, including the sections moderator, is staying on topic.
To bring it back...watching tonight's game it is clear that Lebron has a few more things to learn. He has the skills and the talent and with a little more growth, I agree and believe he will be the best player in the NBA in two or three years. I bet he will explode at least once, maybe twice, in these Finals. but I think most of his games are going to be average (for him, which is still better than most players).
-
^^Better than average, but can you at least now admit that it was a bit premature to put him on Kobe's level? I mean, come on, now.
-

Present Kobe>>>Present Lebron
I believe I said that...
But regardless, quit bringing Kobe into topics. Let it go. I think Lebron will only get better. He is playing at a phenomenal level for a 22 year old. He probably won't his prime until 25 or 26 and go strong until he's 32 or 33, maybe even 35 or 36. He will only get better.
Stay on topic...you are a moderator after all...

We could manage without the injuries, but we OBVIOUSLY weren't 100% built to contend. We had no one to run the point! No true big! Before the injuries, we had depth to somewhat compensate for that, but once reality set in, no way..

Of course Shaq did...But you're in straight denial if you wont admit that Kobe made him look amazing during the 3peat years. SHAQ CAN'T WIN IN A LEAD ROLE WITHOUT AN AMAZING PLAYER LIKE KOBE SETTING HIM UP ON EVERY PLAY AND BAILING HIM OUT IN CRUNCH TIME! Shaq 1993-2000 > Kobe 1993-2000.
Once again, it's usually the dickriders like you who bring up Kobe in random threads...

Potentially yes, IMO...
But Time has a way of Killing Potential.
We never know what Life has to offer us in the furtue? (injuries, or worse)
in a perfect world where everything goes as planned, yes Lebron has the Potential to become the Messiah of Basketball.
But so did S. Kemp, A.Hardaway, G.Hill ect.. (Injuries & Laziness killed their potential)
If Lebron James can stay injury free & avoid the off court bullshit...
If Lebron James makes the commitment to himself to become the best he can be, & dedicates himself 100% to this sport
If Lebron James improves his on his weakness (Shooting & Freethrows)
When he has veteran status then we can see, but right now he's just on pace.
but he's defo looking like a legend to be.
