from MTV:
Ice Cube's film career is still going strong. The rapper/actor is reportedly set to star in "Barbershop," a comedy set to film in 2002.
Cube will play Calvin, the owner of a barber shop on the South Side of Chicago, according to the Hollywood Reporter. He'll begin work on the "Diner"-meets-"Car Wash" project next year, following his stint on "Friday After Next," the newspaper said.
Cube also stars with Natasha Henstridge in "Ghost of Mars," a sci-fi flick directed by John Carpenter that hits theaters Friday.

IMO Cube always comes off beleivable in his movies. He was so mofo dope in "Boyz...". Can't wait 2 score some laughs wit "Friday After Next".
John Carpenters "Vampires" was so whack IMO, hope Cube knows what he's doing.

For real Cube's movies are always dope so the more hes in the better...
-

Yeah, he's also in "It's all about the benjamins" movie dats suppose 2 come out in couple of months. He's one busy ass mofo, no wonder he aint got time 4 NWA.
But on tha other hand he shouldn't be signin 4 new movies so he can find some time 4 tha album.

Fo real though, whats he going to rap about? I don't think he want's to rap about the hood, since it seriously isn't his place anymore, so he is taking his image farther with something he does well.
In face its funny because right this minute
Dangerous Grounds is on TBS
im watching... good movie too, never seen it, so im just watching it for the first time.
-
instead of rappin about other hoes pussy and shit hes gonna rap about his wives pussy and hes gonna rap about smokin dope with his kids, and how hard life is in the suburbs.LOL ;D
-
Well this is how I see it.
The ;onger he stays away from music the better his next album will be. I just hope he stays away from that party stuff and does political rap. Thats what he is best at in my opinion.

I know your kidding, but thats seriously some messed up shit. When people diss rappers like Snoop, especially Snoop for being a fake, a thug... they seem him as a fake because they obviously believe he is still a thug. He hasn't been a thug since 1992 and so many times he mentions that, but people don't wanna listen to that, they wanna hear the hood shit, but then when they are forced to swallow the real shit, they gotta scream fake, punk, snitch etc... so seriously Snoop is somewhere that these fools will never get, as a kid Snoop could only dream about this shit, a kid in the gutter holding onto nothing, he just got into something and made it big, real big and now the hataz bite his tail saying he has to stay in the street to get their respect. Well the fact is, Snoop doesn't need you like you really don't need Snoop, he has done bigger things in the last ten years than most of these 18 yr. old haters have done in their lives, yet they wanna hate... well this is my point, cube basically is taking his rhymes away from the mic, his gutter isn't going to get attention because he doesn't live their anymore, he's got a house, a family a fortune, one of the best rappers in history, and now he takes it to the screen. He knows that. Thats why I see Dre only behind the boards, yes he is the best, yes he's great and we love to hear him, but whats he going to rap about?

yeah BPG i aggree with you and understand what your sayin, and i love cube and snoop there in my all time favorite top ten. . but i never called snoop or cube fake. i dont understand what what you said had to do with me messin around
-
no i wasn't dissing you , u just said cube would rap about his wifes pussy and smoking with his kids...
i said... now i know your kidding, but...
-
oh i get it now.

BPG: I read what you said, on this thread, and on the other thread about Snoop not showing at the Source Awards. And I agree with you, but not 100%. I'ma Snoop fan, I bump his shit and support what he does... but, I can see why people choose to call Snoop fake. And it seems like you dont even wanna hear that, being a BIG Snoop fan or whatever. In his music, and outside his music, Snoop tries to give off that Gangster/Thug image. But YOU know it's not like that, you know he's not as hard as he makes himself look.... well to some people, that's being fake... For him to say "Fuck Deathrow" and then try to stop Suge from showing at the Source awards is also fake to some people.... Not being a gangster, but playin a gangster to make money, is fake to some people.
I dont know, I really dont care what other people think. Especially not what they think about Snoop, I like his music, But I dont think he's 100% true to what he claims... I was just wondering where you were comin' from?
Back to Ice Cube: He's an alright actor... it's just that to me, all his characters are kind of the same. Most of his movies are tight.... so are most of his cd's. I'd rather hear a new Ice Cube album than watch a new Ice Cube movie though.... and I saw "On Deadly Grounds" tonight on TBS too.... I hadn't seen that movie in a long ass time... remember that song that used to be on tha soundtrack? It was dope... I think it was called "The World Is Mine"

Jus' a li'l review I peep'd over at Davey D:
Big Props to Ice Cube. I gotta chance to see him perform in the new John Carpenter flick 'Ghost of Mars' which also stars Pam Grier and Natasha Henstridge. The movie was a bit cheesy, but Cube did his thing. He was funny and kept you watching. In short he did his thing. What I like most about Cube is the fact that he always plays that Straight Outta Compton role in every flick except '3 Kings'. And even there you knew his buttt was from LA. But if you want a good laugh peep this new movie.. Bring a couple of your homies and have a good time.
-
Yeah, he isn't a very diverse character. I don't see him winning a Oscar anytime soon but thats aiight as long as he makes good movies.
-
Fo real though, whats he going to rap about?
He can rap about me....Hahahaha.
He can rap about how he coaches his sons basketball team, which I happen to play against once every 2 weeks, and he can also rap about how he shows up at Tarazana Park with his whole family every Sunday and Tuesday...LoL
