Title: I miss 2pac
Post by: jeromechickenbone on June 26, 2007, 12:30:53 AM
Alright yall, i got some shit for you.  Many of yall cats on these boards have no idea.  You don't know the impact or you don't know what it was like to bump a new Pac album.  I was around in those days, and all I can say is it was a major reason why I love Hip Hop as much as I do.  I don't even give a motherfuck about WestCoast rap these days, but I was bumpin some Pac tonight, and it reminded me how real this shit was.  So anyway, bang this shit out with me, leave some comments, and if it inspires you, please drop some of Pac's music.  No remixes, just shit how he intended.  Peace Brothas!!!

This ain't an official vid, just one of Pac's HUNDREDS of classics.  If you don't respect Pac, I don't respect you!!!! PEACE AND R.I.P. TO PAC!!!!!!!!

yea man 2Pac is real dope

of course everyone knows the big hits and he's big because of his death and all, but he is for sure one of the best ever

when I think of some of his best tracks, he's completely original and a rapper that didn't take rapping lightly

doesn't come half-assed and never had a weak verse really, always had energy in his verses with knowledge

people get tired of him because others hype him up a lot but if you wanna be real about it then you gotta admit he's way at the top

I was only 9 when he died so I don't know what it was like back then but I can definitely understand and appreciate the rapper he was

Sorry i refuse to turn off a Noel Gallagher acoustic version of "whatever" to listen 2 this. And i used 2 be the biggest 2pac fan you're likely 2 meet. Todays hip hop scene has made me lose interest full stop.

Great thread. Yeah it is hard to get into any music for that matter after BIG and Pac passed but Pac impacted me more. There were other rappers that were better lyricists, but Pac had that complete package in a mc that soooo many rappers try to have and never get. Big too. Definitely my all time favorite and too many hits to mention, new, OG, remixed, it doesn't matter.

Here is my all time favorite, Picture Me Rollin. Man he was in jail the year before and dropped a 9X platinum album the year after that. If that ain't Picture Me Rollin I don't know what is  8) R.I.P.

50 Cent is more "real" then Pac was, cause at least we know 50 did the dirt he claims, there's proof of it. He may be a mainstream rapper, make boring music nowadays, but his past is way more "real" then Pac's. So yeah, stop talking nonsense, Pac was at least 75% hype. You just stated that by saying that you looked forward to each album of him, that is hype.  8)

True that, but just like Biggie who grew up in the suburbs, nothing wrong with that, but imo it's wrong to claim things you have/had no parts in. I just mentioned 50 Cent cause many hate on him and say he snitched and all that, but the truth is he was in the pen a lotta summers cause he was really doing dirt, unlike the biggest stars who claim the same.

Street cred and jail time for me do nothing for my enjoyment of the music. If the music is dope then I bump it. And Pac had a wide range of music, from uplifting to morbid to upbeat to explict to raunchy to everything. It showed in his personality. He was fighting alot of demons in his life, the difference between him and regular people is like he said his life played out like a movie in the media. Dude was a very intellectual brotha and though I did not agree with some of his words or actions, alot of things he was going through I could relate to.

And that is something that is missing from alot of these artists now coming up. They come and go but they leave no impact. It is just a bunch of songs with words on it and a beat.

Realest there ever was bestvthere will ever be. Rest in peace to a legend. I would start naming
all my favorite Pac tracks, but i know i'd get carried away and would be able to stop. Bury me a G (solo), hail mary, how do you want it, never had a friend like me, Starin thru my rearview, unconditional love, changes, it aint easy, Pain (original),..... I stop myself there.
And the fact that theres still damn near 150 UNHEARD, unreleased songs just blows my mind. Hopefully they'll stop completly destroying his posthumous releases.

No offence to nobody, ya dig.

I can tell you're a dumb nigga just like most street niggas. its not cool to go to jail. dumbasses who get caught go to jail. Pac was smarter than that. That's why you don't have arrest records and news stories to verify because he just didn't get caught.

Pac was the realest to ever do this rap shit. No matter what mood I'm in there are at least 5 2Pac songs I can listen to express how i feel. No other rapper has ever come close to relating their music to people like that. That's really for any genre of music, Pac made you feel his music, that's why it's so timeless. We were all blessed that 2Pac made the music he did and I think we take that for granted too much.

If that's the case anyone can be a "gangsta-rapper" even you and me. That's hella stupid you know. Pac rapped about things he did and shit, what did Pac ever do man? There's some uddes that are 10 times harder (no homo) and they have the credibility.

If you think Tupac was just a "gangsta rapper" then you have no idea about the dude.  That side of him was just a small piece in his arsenal.  One of the most versatile rappers ever.  But I'm not gonna sit here and act like I knew him and if he killed people and shit to try and validate his authenticity to you.  I know he was homeless for a while, moved constantly all over the country as a kid, his mom was a crack fiend, she was also a black panther and was pregnant w/ him while she was in the federal pen for allegedly planning to blow some shit up in NY, he got robbed and shot up, got shot in the fuckin nuts & head, then got shot up and killed in Vegas.  I also believe that Stretch Walker was supposedly the one who put the hit out on him (robbery back in NY) and he was murdered exactly one year later.  Now thats some gangsta shit right there.

Look at the fuckin company dude kept - Suge was his homie, Mike Tyson, etc etc.  I'm sure if Pac was some fake ass phony that these dudes wouldn't have fucked with him.

But really though, I personally don't give a fuck about how "gangsta" he was.  He was an incredible artist and I was lucky enough to be a Head when he was alive.

And finally, once again you step into a thread and make incredibly ignorant statements about shit you know nothing about.
