Report: Kapono reaches agreement with Raptors
July 1, 2007
BRISTOL, Connecticut (Ticker) - Jason Kapono reached a four-year agreement with the Toronto Raptors on Sunday, according to ESPN.com.
The network reported that the contract is worth $24 million for Kapono, who averaged a career-high 10.9 points with the Miami Heat last season.
Free agents formally cannot sign contracts until July 11.
"Jason is excited about this opportunity and intends to sign with the Raptors when the moratorium period ends," Kapono's agent, Bob Myers, told ESPN.com.
A second-round draft pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003, Kapono led the NBA in 3-point percentage (.514) in 2006-07.

Report: Jason Kapono to the Toronto Raptors
Marc Stein of the ESPN.com writes, "Free agent sharpshooter Jason Kapono has quickly reached an agreement Sunday to leave the Miami Heat and sign a four-year deal believed to be worth $24 million with the Toronto Raptors. The NBA's free agent period commenced at 12:01 Sunday morning, with free agents unable to formally sign contracts before July 11."
this is pretty good for Toronto, they are gonna have some amazing outside shooting since they just picked up Delfino and now Kapono, plus Bargnani. They will be deadly from outside.

Hmm....4/24 for him, 5/30 for Luke Walton.....Kapono is a much better shooter, but that's ALL he's really good for....so I think the Lakers made the right choice by going with Walton again...plus he's familiar in the system and all.
