i agree Bone is really influential especially in the Mid West division of hip hop...when they came out look at all the groups that followed...Crucial Conflict, Do Or Die, Three 6 Mafia [Yeh I Know They SOUTH But They Used To Sound Like Bone], Twista [Got A New Deal After Bone Dropped], Speed Knot Mobstaz, etc...now you got peeps like Nelly that is obviously influenced by Bone with his sing song flow...
well we need hellrazor up in this piece to further the topic since he the expert Bone fan...
anyways Bone deserves to be considered as one of the best groups ever IMO...

why is everyone so hyped about outkast, i used to think the same, but now i realize they are way overrated.

There is NO top 3, cuz you'd leave out too many influential groups. I could easily make a case for Bone, Public Enemy, Run Dmc, The Wu, the Beasties, NWA, Outkast, Gang Starr [i cant believe no one has mentioned them yet], and Tribe. Run Dmc is probably the most influential, since they paved the way for pretty much everyone. But it takes more than impact to make a great group. I think, song for song, album for album, Public Enemy, Bone, Wu Tang, and Outkast are better than Run Dmc, but thats just me. Public Enemy was HUGE, they opened alot of eyes in the black community and were the first "prophets of rage", and Chuck D is probably Pac's [rip] biggest influence. Wu Tang brought that gritty sound back to hip hop when the west was dominating, and they brought lyrical fire and RZA is a sharpass producer. They made some great concept albums too. Outkast is probably the most consistant rap group ever. 4 straight classic albums, all with a different formula. They are on pace to become the best group ever. Without Bone, there is NO midwest, and coupled with the fact that E.1999 Eternal is one of the top 10 hip hop albums ever [IMO], they are one of the best. They brought a completely new sound to the table.
Basically, there is no top 3. Its impossible to say.

that's like putting snoop dogg in one of the best lyracist list which i'm sure "certain canadians" on this board might do....i mean they are a pretty good group but ALLL THAATT there are better groups out there than them....i love tha dogg pound but they're not even one of the all time greatest groups, just cuz you like somthing alot doesn't make it one of the best out there, my friends dad thinks steve kerr is one of the all time best players in nba history ....he's one of the most accurate shooters in the game's history BUT he ain't gonna be on no top 50 ever or top 100 or 300 for that matter
bone might've been the first to rep the mid west but they've hardly had any significant influence every one else who's come out of the midwest has done somthing completely different than bone, Esham is an Idiot and i HATE his music and i like bone a million times more but Esham is the REAL most influencial mid west artist if you look at all the rap acts that have drawn inspiration from him

first of all the ultramagentic put out 3 straight classic lp's that are recognized by every true hip hop fan your fooling yourself if you think bone is better than them and teeny bopper rap fan if you don't at least know of kool keith....
and yes the roots are more historicle than bone thugs they made it ok for a rap group to be a band also and not limit it'self to just synthed beats and drum machines instead was a live band
and yes the pharcyde molded another style in the west an alternative to gangsta rap, and dropped classic albums

ummmm bone thugs didn't even invent their whole style dude like twista were using the whole fast rapping style before bone, people like domino and kokane were doing that whole vocalizing/rapping thing before bone, three six mafia were doing horror rap in the underground waaaaay before bone dropped faces of death, and even if bone reaally did create their little style Tribe's jazz rap thing is more influential seeing as the whole east coast scene is up on that and the east coast has the biggest rap scene in the world and the only peeps who use bone's style is....welp bone
