Looks like they are trying to get the deal finished before the weekend. I think United are trying to send a message to Chelsea.

it will be a very complicated deal to pull off, there is still rumours west ham dont own him. It appears that he may even join on loan at first with a view to a permament deal later on.

Im not sure if this is going to happen, mainly because of the ownership of a player at the moment. The premier league will look very carefully at any deal involving tevez if he moves to another english club. If there was anything dodgy about the deal i wouldnt expect united to go through with it.

Carlos Tevez is keen on a "dream" move to Manchester United - although any deal will come under heavy Premier League scrutiny before going through.
The League insists the transfer must be "done directly" with West Ham rather than his agent Kia Joorabchian.

Tevez, 23, was involved in a saga that led to West Ham being fined £5m for breaching transfer rules, although they crucially escaped a points deduction.

But he said: "For me, Manchester United will be a sensational destination."

Tevez is still under contract to West Ham for three years, but the League wants to ensure Joorabchian is not paid any of the fee after previous questions over the Argentine forward's "ownership".

West Ham insisted they cut all ties with Joorabchian after they were fined in April.

One possible avenue would be for West Ham to be paid a transfer fee and then agree a compensation figure with Joorabchian for breaching contracts with his company, Media Sports Investments (MSI), when the Hammers terminated third-party agreements following their fine

It is understood though the League would want a substantial chunk of the transfer fee to remain at West Ham rather than it all be handed over to MSI in compensation, otherwise they could be accused of merely covering up the third-party agreements that have caused so much controversy.

West Ham have been speaking to Manchester United about a transfer, and the former Boca Juniors and Corinthians player is excited at the prospect.

He said: "I am a player who thrives on challenges. I went to England to triumph in the Premiership and with West Ham I have achieved that first stage.

"Now I'm ready to move on to the next stage. To be a member of Sir Alex Ferguson's squad will be absolutely spectacular.

"My dream is to be an idol in English football and I can achieve this now."

or i could be talking rubbish

Carlos Tevez claims he has promised Sir Alex Ferguson he will join Manchester United.

The Argentine striker is determined to do all he can to push through his move to Old Trafford.

The completion of the switch to the Premier League champions has stalled with West Ham arguing the forward cannot leave Upton Park without their approval.

But Tevez wants to honour his pledge to Sir Alex and join his side.

He told The People: "Through my backers I have given my word to Mr Ferguson. They have told him I'll be at Manchester United next season and once I make a promise I don't go back on it.

"There isn't a player who would turn down this opportunity and the negotiations are too far advanced to go back now.

"I have been open and honest with West Ham every step of the way and I hope the fans understand."

Tevez also claims he only decided to quit Upton Park after The Hammers decided not to make his deal permanent.

"My representatives sat down with West Ham at the end of the season and once it became clear they were not going to sign me, they gave me permission to talk to other clubs so I am surprised this is causing such a stink," the Argentine said.

lol

WEST HAM have sensationally evicted Carlos Tevez from his London apartment, ridiculing claims they want him to stay at the club.
The Hammers are still locked in a bitter fight over Tevez joining Manchester United in another controversial loan deal.

Last week they insisted the Argentinian, loaned to them by businessman Kia Joorabchian, remains under contract until 2010 and they expected him back for pre-season training.

But I can reveal the club booted the 23 year old out of his Canary Wharf penthouse four days earlier-taking away all his personal belongings and moving in their new French signing, Julien Faubert.

Tevez was in Venezuela at the time where he's playing in the Copa America tournament. A source told me: "The first Carlos knew about it was when his agent out in South America suddenly got a phone call from West ham announcing they were moving a new player into his flat that day.

"They even asked whether Carlos could arrange for soemone to take his his possessions away-even though he was in Venezuela playing in the Copa America!

"Carlos was devastated and even now has no idea where all his belongings are. He has lived in that flat ever since he arrived in London from Corinthians and has naturally bought lots of his own things since then."

yeah but whether teh premier league allow it or not is another thing. It seems pretty obvious that west ham dont own him even though the premier league says he does. If it becomes clear they dont, then shef united will want to be reinstated into the premiership. The premier league fucked it up from the start letting tevez and mascherano join west ham even though they didnt own them and have never properly sorted it out.

EDIT

http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,16368,1778_2489082,00.html

Big chiefs urged to solve Tev row
The Football Association and FIFA are set to be called in to broker a solution to Carlos Tevez's move from West Ham to Manchester United.

The Argentina striker's proposed move to Old Trafford has been blocked after the Premier League ruled the Hammers must receive the vast majority of the £30million-plus fee.

But West Ham are not in a position to handle the transfer because Tevez's economic rights are owned by businessman Kia Joorabchian.

United have agreed terms with Tevez and Joorabchian and hoped to have everything tied up last week - but the deal has reached an impasse.

It is understood some of those involved in the negotiations do not believe the Premier League can act as independent arbiter in the case any longer.

And Tevez's representatives are set to request help from the FA and FIFA - the two bodies who oversee transfers at a domestic and international level. It is understood any such move would be endorsed by United, who are anxious to get a deal finalised.

A source close to the negotiations said: "Diplomatic moves are being made. We are in deadlock and we need an independent body to try and sort this mess out.

"The lawyers all agree Manchester United and Joorabchian are within their rights to do a deal - but the Premier League are saying they can't.

"The Premier League seem to have a vested interest now. They are covering their own backs after allowing West Ham to continue playing Tevez last season.

"Their whole argument is built on the premise West Ham tore up Tevez's contract and claimed to control the player.

"But any court in the land will tell you they cannot do that."

The recent Premier League arbitration found West Ham's actions in declaring all ties had been severed "may not have been legally watertight".

United and Joorabchian are at a loss to understand why the Premier League are blocking Tevez's move when they sanctioned Javier Mascherano's transfer from West Ham to Liverpool in January.

Both players were on identical contracts at Upton Park and it is understood United want to sign the same deal for Tevez that Liverpool agreed with Joorabchian for Mascherano.

The Premier League's argument is that Mascherano had left West Ham before the independent commission's inquiry into the duo's initial move to West Ham from South America, which deemed the pair's contracts to be in breach of regulations.

West Ham were fined £5.5million but "satisfied" the Premier League they had terminated the third party agreement in Tevez's contract.

As a result the Premier League allowed Tevez to play in West Ham's last three matches of the season, when he played a key role in the club's successful battle against relegation.

Having accepted Tevez was now controlled by West Ham, the Premier League were compelled to state the club had to conduct the transfer.

To accept Joorabchian retains control of the player would not only be a major climbdown but could result in legal action from Sheffield United, who felt they were unfairly relegated.

Unless FIFA or the FA can help manufacture a breakthrough, the matter would appear to be heading for the courts.

I hope it draws out to September  :D

looks like it may do

Manchester United may be further frustrated in their attempts to unravel the complicated transfer saga involving West Ham striker Carlos Tevez.
BBC Radio Five Live understands Tevez, 23, and his management team wrote to the Premier League and West Ham asking them to terminate his Hammers contract.

The Premier League refused and has suggested West Ham do the same.

If Fifa or the Football Association cannot help manufacture a breakthrough, the matter could end up in the courts.

Tevez's proposed move to Old Trafford has been put on hold after the Premier League ruled West Ham must receive the vast majority of the reported £30m-plus fee.

But West Ham are not in a position to handle the transfer because Tevez's economic rights are owned by businessman Kia Joorabchian.

Manchester United have agreed terms with Tevez and Joorabchian and hoped to have everything tied up last week - but the deal has now reached an impasse.

BBC Five Live Sport football correspondent Jonathan Legard said: "Sir Alex Ferguson the Manchester United manager was saying, 'Why hasn't this gone through?'

"He may think the Premier League are causing the problem.

"Well the Premier League would say we have our rules, and in terms of the FA being involved the Premier League would say it's our rule, it is unique to our league and therefore we should have sole jurisdiction."

It is believed some of those involved in the negotiations believe the Premier League can no longer act as independent arbiter in the case.

That means Tevez's representatives are set to request help from the FA and Fifa - the two bodies who oversee transfers at a domestic and international level.

According to the Argentine's representatives personal terms were agreed with United last week.

Tevez, who is currently with Argentina in South America for the Copa America, has made no secret of his desire to move to Old Trafford.
