I'm sure he got a nice potential ... the only question is always the same : how many years til he makes a significant impact ...
-
^^You're expecting instant impact from a rookie?
-
^^^^ naw if not I wouldn't ask "how many years til .... " in my previous post
-
Who knows how many years?
-
Who knows how many years?
yeah... what I meant is if we want to win now , we can't count on young players to skyrocket their level in little time.. I'm sure he'll be a very good PG in this league in 3, 4 years .. til this time we need an experienced PG ..
-
I'm a Laker fan for life, so I think for the long-term as well...As for now, we both know damn well the PG issue still needs to be addressed.
-
+1 for the video.
I'm excited.
-
¨^^^^^ Me too but I still think we have FIRST to adress the current weakness of our roster.. then we can think about the future.. thinking about 2011-12 is good but we'll have to know where we're going next season and the 2-3 upcoming years
-
"How good you think Bynum is gonna be in 10 years?"
-
I wouldn't mind if we keep both Bynum and this young player.
Kobe should lead those two guys and stop bitching.
Or we betta trade him for other good players.
Stop bitching, the team is pretty decent.
We miss one piece of the puzzle.
We will get it as soon as we will have a good trade to make.
-
"How good you think Bynum is gonna be in 10 years?"
That quote can make or break Bynum. Quit being such a tabloid loving drama fag.
-
we havn't really had a decent draft class since 96' when we got fisher and kobe, but i'm hoping we'll come up with this dude.

We've had some amazing 2nd round steals though...
-
we have had some "steals" in the second round but havn't drafted an all star in 11 years :-\

Andrew Bynum will be an all-star.

Critt had an amazing debut with the Lakers vs. the Bucks in the SPL yesterday, even hitting the game winner...Dude has been called the most skilled player we've drafted since Kobe! Check the review:
Crittenton -- Laker fans got to see a glimpse of why Crittenton was thought of as a lottery pick. His explosion to the rim, his versatility, some strong D and the clutch ability that he showed often at GT is his only season. What they didn't get to see yet was some of the more spectacular passing he can come up with. With the Lakers stuck in mud early in the game, Crittenton came off the bench and provided instant spark on both ends of the court. The tempo changed noticeably. He was quick to push the ball up or hit an open man down court. Critt's instincts to hit the open man quickly after getting the ball loosened up the Tri to where the team sometimes just winged it and played ball. Triangle execution is always, without fail, miserable in the first SPL game. Javaris played at both the 1 and 2 spots. Three of his first four makes were dunks, showing his athleticism with a reverse jam out of the gates. He scored 18 points on 8-13 shooting (0-2 from three, a poor 2-6 from the line), he grabbed 4 boards (2 offensive), dished 2 assists without a turnover in 25 minutes. Defensively, he was called for only 3 fouls (two very late in the game), he had 2 steals and 1 blocked shot. He caused a turnover in the backcourt pressuring his man as soon as he entered the game. He read a pass, jumped the lane, swiped it and took it for a dunk. He scored a putback after crashing the glass. He pressured his man on the perimeter, stripped him with an excellent reach and took it the distance for another dunk. At the end of the half, they ran an iso play for Critt. He took the clock down, attacked off the screen to his right, crossed up a defender badly and threw down a monster dunk...this was a get-off-your-couch dunk if you were watching a regular Laker game. He hit a pull-up jumper from about 17 feet straight away. He got back in transition and blocked his man's layup attempt. He took another 17-footer that looked like it might have been tipped in or that he got a lucky bounce (hard to tell on the small screen). He worked the two-man game on the right wing, attacked and banked in a layup in some traffic. To start the fourth, he attacked the baseline, drew the D and fed in traffic to Johnson for FTs. He attacked off the pinch post on the right side, pulling the dribble out wide, then charging toward the hoop for FTs, he made both. Excellent Tri read, cutting quickly as the ball was swung to the pinch post, he took the bouncepass in stride and drew a foul, he missed both FTs. He missed a couple of long jumpers up against the shotclock. He nailed a catch and shoot wing jumper from the college three line. He pushed up the break and hit Karl, who scored off a couple dribbles. He ballwatched and got backdoored for a dunk. He was called for a foul trying to swat his man on the drive. Then with the game tied and both teams struggling to score for the last minute and a half, Critt took the Farmar kickout and drained the 21-foot game winner with a second left on the clock.
...and the game in full:

I've seen the full game.
Crittenton >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Farmar.
I do agree: he's the most skilled dude we've drafted since Kobe. This guy can do it all.

Man, Jose Barea looks like a franchise player in those type of games lol. The real NBA is different.

Still......
Crittenton >>>>>>>>>> Farmar

He's still been displaying tremendous skill, people have been comparing his game to Dwyane Wade!...And Farmar will step his game up and be very valuable for us this coming season. Mark it.

Oden and Durant look like shit in those games... we're not saying he's going to average 20 and 10 assists in his rookie season but he already shown some skills... by the way he got 26 pts last night .. what I like is ONE turnover in 3 games
-
Farmar had 18 points and 11 assists last game. :o

Everybody is willing to show them that the NBA is a different beast... blocking Oden or Durant is a much greater joy than blocking Javaris... I'm just saying tho. Kid could be something, but Kobe needs to win now.

Critt is not gunna be our starter...

The Lakers could draft any random dubcc member and NIK would still talk about how with a few years under his belt, a good coach, and good system, that random dubcc member can be a all star. Whats the excuse going be when Kwame continues to suck this year ?
-
^How did I know that your post in here wasn't gunna be about Javaris Crittenton?...And to top that off, when did I mention anything about him being an all-star?...Stop the nutridage, Tommy. The look is out.

And since I doubt Fisher is going to start more then half of the season, they're is a slight chance that Phil Jackson will actually play Crittenton. :)

Postcards From Hawaii: Javaris Crittenton Blog (http://www.nba.com/lakers/news/071005_postcards_javariscrittenton.html)

Last night went well, but we lost ya know. I think I played pretty well with the time I was given. I didn’t really have any jitters when I first got in, it was just like that moment, that “Wow I’m in my first NBA game” moment. After I went up and down once I was cool.
The whole night was a great experience. Getting to the game dressed in my jeans and button up and nice shoes. It’s a whole different style from college. I’d come to my college games in jeans and my white T or t-shirt and tennis shoes or whatever. Now I have to come to the games dressed appropriately, professionally. Then getting dressed and sitting in the locker room with my teammates, having my jersey under the Lakers warm-up and everything.
Before the game I did the meet and greet thing with some fans, then went on the court and got up some shots. That was about it, just got ready for the game. Went out and focused. We were down by a lot early in the game, but we fought back really hard.
I think I penetrated well and that opened up some things for my teammates. I got into the paint and scored in traffic. I was able to get in there and I found the shooters a few times when they collapsed on me. I penetrated and I got fouled a lot and got to the line. I’ve been putting up a lot of shots after practice and really practicing my free throws.
I made my first couple buckets, then the next time I came down my man sagged off of me. We come down and look for our offense, but we can push it in transition and see if we have anything. I like to get it out and run, I like to push it and see what I have. I pushed it up court and he backed like two feet off of me. If someone’s going to back that far off of you... I mean you can run the offense, but if you have the jump shot then pull up. I was in rhythm, I was coming down under control, and I just pulled up.
I also tried to take it down in the post when I could. I’m a big point guard, so when I get a smaller guard on me, someone that’s 6-2/6-1 and under, and I can catch him in the post and turn around and shoot over the top of him, or fade, or hit him with a post move and get to the bucket, or hit him with a post move to draw another defender then find my teammate it opens up things. Things open up when you have a big guard that can post up.
People have been underestimating me my whole life. I’m pretty big, pretty strong for my size, and I’m pretty quick. People are going to start to realize that when they see me on the court and see me play a little bit more. That’s the reason that I slipped to 19 and I’m with the Lakers. All those teams that passed up on me are going to see their mistake. The Lakers are going to be happy to have me, because I’m happy to be here.
I made a good read and was able to throw an alley-oop to Andrew in the 2nd half. Me and Andrew, we kind of vibe with each other a lot, so I kind of know him. He spun off and I threw it over the top and he dunked it. It’s a play where you have to read the defender and read Andrew and his position. He was open. I caught him with that same pass today in practice.
I ended up with only one assist. I was getting in the paint and getting fouled. A few times I did find shooters, but they had to take dribbles. I was penetrating, looking, looking, looking, but most of the time I was able to get fouled or score in the lane. We’ll work on that tomorrow.
It was cool matching up with a veteran like Troy Hudson in my first NBA experience. I wish I would have got to play against Baron (Davis) a little bit more. He’s a good friend of mine and he had a good night. I was just mad that Troy hit that shot at the end. He had just shot an air ball the previous possession and I thought he was going to penetrate and try to get to the basket. Don’t get me wrong, I was still there on the jump shot. It was like, give him a step, so if he shoots the jumper you can contest and if he tries to penetrate you’re there to stop him. I was thinking he was going to penetrate since he just shot an air ball, but he put it up and made the shot.
In practice today we worked on getting out and pushing it, making sure everybody can run. That’s important to Phil this year in the offense, the live dribble and getting out and running and kicking it ahead so we can start our offense early instead of letting the defense get set. Everybody knows the triangle, we’ve been doing it forever, not to say that they can just stop it because everybody knows it, but still you allow the defense to setup, so we just push it forward and see what we got.
I’m just chillin for the rest of the day. About to shower, go grab something to eat with my teammates, and look forward to tomorrow. I’m ready to come out and play harder. I want to win; it’s about winning for me. I’m just going to play hard, contribute on defense, just try to light my man up on defense, get everybody involved, make sure we’re getting out and running, just play the game. Play the game like I always play it.
