Title: Who Will Have The Better Season... GREG ODEN OR ANDREW BYNUM?
Post by: Now_Im_Not_Banned on July 08, 2007, 03:12:00 PM
With media reports on Bynum about how "impressive" he's been looking in his current workouts and quotes about how it's "possible to imagine Bynum at 14 points and nine rebounds", I'm wondering who will be the better 20 year old sensation this coming NBA season? Oden averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds in college last year, his number wont get too much better his rookie season in the NBA (if anything, they'll subside)...Bynum has more value than everyone thinks. I can't wait for next season, the battle of the bigs are fixin' to be very interesting. Who do you think will have a nicer season in 2007-2008?...PeACe

probably greg oden, he's expected to be the corner stone of the organization. bynum is the bastard child of LA.  clear cut and final.

Another question, who has more to prove?

Oden has much more to prove.  He was a number one draft pick and is already being compared to all the other big men who were drafted number one (Duncan, Robinson, Shaq...etc.)  Outside of LA, nobody cares about what Bynum has to prove.

That said, I don't know what Oden is capable of doing.  His hand was apparently jacked up for a while, so I don't know if he'll instantly be dominant, take a few years to become dominant, or be mediocre overall.  Who knows, he could be a great defensive big man and that's it.  On the other hand, he could be the next Shaq.  It'll take a few regular season games to see how well he looks.

And what's up with NIK even mentioning what the media is reporting?  I hope he's okay....

Bynum is still developing and Oden is more polished. With that said its always tuff for Rookies to make any impact but Oden starting will make his stats better overall then Bynums.

Oden will have an instant impact Defensive wise.. on the offensive end he still has a lot to work on... I think Aldridge will steal the show next year for Portland .. on the other hand I'm curious to see Bynum improvements .. the only question I wonder is his mentality .. I don't want  "I don't care if I start, the only important thing is I get some minutes" type of comment no more.. skills wise, he has to be quicker with his offensive move and improve a lot on 1 on 1 D ....

I think Oden will become more like Mutombo than like Shaq and them... I don't predict him to be nearly as dominant offensively as Shaq or Hakeem...

The thing about Bynum is, he's got a lot of pressure now due to the Kobe-situation. It's gonna be interesting if he fails.
