My favorite import: Marco Belinelli
It's simply impossible not to pick the Italian. He's become such an instant favorite with the Vegas crowds -- averaging 25.0 points through three games and generally commanding Best Player So Far status from coaches and personnel types in attendance -- that most of his misses from outside are met with a disappointed groan from fans.
Ever since that 14-for-20 shooting spree in Belinelli's 37-point opener, the locals apparently think that Golden State's No. 18 pick is supposed to make every shot.
"But he's not just a shooter," said one Western Conference executive. "Don't be mistaken. He had [Philadelphia's Rodney] Carney isolated at the top of the key, beat him with a super crossover and finished at the rim over two people. He's going to fit right into the way Golden State plays. And he's not as bad defensively as people thought. Philly tried to iso him a few times in that game and he did a decent job."

warriors have such a tight future!!!!!!!!!

^ only if B.Diddy can miraculously stay healthy. I'd like to see Golden State play Phoenix in the playoffs, that'd be one hell of a matchup.

BD staying healthy is a huge IF

I told y'all! about one year ago.
No man, i didn't know it. I made his name just cause i knew how good he is (he showed it in the last World Cup tournament tho) and how he is the perfect european C (great outside, wonderful 3pts shooting, great zonal defence, wack one on one defence). But it's not really a big surprise, if you ask me. I mean Toronto Raptors named former Benetton Treviso (an italian team) GM Maurizio Gherardini as the club's vice president and assistant general manager of Colangelo. I know Gherardini very well, he's a wonderful talent scout who worked extremely well in Treviso. He's the one who acquired Garbajosa when he was still a good but not superstar C in Treviso (and Treviso made him a superstar) and he's the one who helped Bargnani reach the NBA #1 draft pick playing in Treviso. So for him to select two former Treviso stars like PF Bargnani and to C Garbajosa had to be a natural thing. Plus Anthony Parker, well everybody in Europe knows he's the Michael Jordan of Euroleague. That explains why Colangelo did a great job this year. And that's what i'm talking about!! The NBA needs people like Maurizio Gherardini. I criticized the selection of Bargani saying Garbajosa was more ready for the NBA. Well.. Gherardini acquired both, so nothing to say, hands down, great offseason for him.
About Halperin i must admit he's a pretty good talent, but he's not yet ready for the NBA. This year, without Parker, it will be an "in or out" season for him. He has to step us as the leader of Maccabi, so i'll just wait and see him. If you want a name of a player who will make noise in the next NBA draft it is Marco Belinelli, an italian all-around player from Bologna. I predict him to be selected in one the first 5 positions. I prefeer him to Halperin, by far (if Sasha Vujacic can be in the rotation in the Lakers... Belinelli can START!).
Remember my words.

congrats.
you get a prop.

dude takes and makes crazy shots ... he can be a nice 6th man without a doubt .. nowadays 70% of the NBA teams can't D so he will have good postions (he's great at creating them and has a very quick release) and is a perfect fit for the Warriors.. only concern is he will in trouble defensive wise against NBA guards coz he's not strong but after all the Warriors don't care about D so no pb for him...

Personally, I'm glad the Warriors took him with that 18 making Crtitt slip all the way to 19. 8)

^^ a lot of people that i talked to like danny ainge and flip saunders who was sitting right next to me thought the lakers reached a lil to far for critt and that hes not NBA ready at all.

LMAO...Critt was projected by some as a lottery pick...If anything, Belinelli was scooped up too soon, as he was projected to go in the mid to late 20's. Critt is an amazing prospect who has already had some brilliant performances for the Lakers in the SPL...PeACe

^^yea my bad sorry to ruffle ur feathers im just repeating what flip saunders said to me but what the fuck does he know right. you have far more b-ball knowledge than that idiot. anywayz were talking about the warriors pick in here not ur boy critt who's not nba ready. so moderate yourself into the critt thread or whatever the fuck that guys name is. THANK YOU COME AGAIN

Maybe I should trust the great scouting skills of Danny Ainge?
All I'm saying is that I'm glad Benelli got picked up early, cuz I know the Lakers were high on him...Critt was a lottery prospect who slipped. Flip Saunders is a dumbfuck, I doubt he knows anything or is responsible for any of the basketball decisions made in Detroit...Dude's a COACH. And where the hell did you talk to Danny Ainge and Flip Saunders to begin with?

monday in vegas. the first summer league game was the celts against the blazers i think. 2nd was pistons against the grizz got to see afflalo and conley JR go at it with each other. 3rd game the W's. $75 the best seat in the house for all 3 games. courtside had a hella good time

Italy has a great generation of young skilled players who will make noise in the NBA, mark my words. You've already appreciated Andrea Bargnani, this year you'll appreciate Marco Belinelli and the next year it will be the year of Danilo Gallinari. Those three are fantastic all-around players who can compete in the NBA for sure. Crittenton is by far a better athlete, but Belinelli is a starter for the Italian League (don't underrate it, homie), for the Italian National team and he has Euroleague experience. He knows how to handle the pressure, and he will do damage in the States too, because he has the right mentality to ask for the ball and to shoot. Javaris looks awesome. But they're very different players, you can't compare them. I simply hoped for Mitch to sign him (on a side note: he impressed him in the pre-draft workouts), but GSW drafted him just one spot behind us. I'm not saying he's better for sure. But he's a good draft pick.
And, like i said, he's by far a better player than Sasha Vujacic.
-
+1 for the info hommie. always good to have someone like you educate NIk and I about a couple of players that we know very little about.
-
No problem. Oh, just out of curiosity, there's a young player who's making noise at the moment here. He's 16 years old, and he's 7'3. A monster, from the isle of Malta. The best clubs in Europe fought to acquire him this summer, and at the end Benetton Treviso won (the former team of Garbajosa, Bargnani, Nachbar, etc..). They say he can play bball too. We will see.

if ur not gonna post anything related to the topic just shut the fuck up. mmmkay pumpkin?
what are the Warriors going to do with Barnes?
Heading into this offseason, the midlevel exception of $5.356 million seemed a realistic salary starting point in the eyes of many, including Matt Barnes.
In a departure from his usual steady, low-key approach, Barnes left agent Bill Neff, who had beaten many a bush over the past few seasons to get Barnes into veteran training camps, to sign with agent Dan Fegan, who just happened to have fellow Warriors Stephen Jackson and Jason Richardson (since traded to Charlotte).
"I was talking to a lot of people who were telling me that I needed a big-time agent to get that big money," Barnes said Wednesday evening. "That's the main reason I decided to change agents. It wasn't anything that (Neff) did or didn't do. We'll see if that was a smart decision or not. Basically, it was just me analyzing my situation."
Wednesday was the first day teams could sign free agents, and Barnes said he has not received the offers he anticipated.
"Right now, there's nothing happening," he said. "I was thinking the midlevel exception was realistic, but my agent has been telling me teams have questioned whether the success I had was because of (Warriors coach Don) Nelson's system and whether or not I could have the same success in another system.
"It's pretty frustrating because I thought I had a good year," said Barnes, who averaged 9.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists and shot 43.8 percent from the field, including 36.6 percent from three-point range, in 23.9 minutes per game during the regular season. "It was not a great season, but it was good. And from what other players have received, I thought I'd be right there in that mix. But Golden State has not come around to what I thought they might, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens."
^ Barnes is nice. I guess teams are worried that he's just another James Jones.

the warriors want him back as long as the money is right. i dont anticipate him gettin all kinds of offers like the article states hopefully we get him for a good deal

Today i was here at a summertime camp with Gallinari, the other italian guy who will make it to the NBA draft next year (top 15-16, mark my words). I'm a friend of them cause my father is a former international ref, so i've met a lot of those players during the years (international players too). That said, i just checked the Official GSW site and there's nothing about Belinelli shooting 0/9. I was just curious. I know what can he do (and you should know it too: remember how the Italian national team sonned your team?), so it's not really a big problem. He can shoot.

Ok.
He's shooting 44% from 3pts tho'. Crittenton is shooting 25%, just to let you know. It was just a bad game.

Other than his first game where he went off, he shot a bad percentage from the field every time...9-23, 5-13, and then 6-22. Not saying he's not good, just putting a stop to the notion that he "can't miss"...PeACe
-
What notion? I mean he's not even a pure shooter, man. He had an impressive game and he's still shooting .444% from 3pts no matter that horrible game, but he's not known for being a pure shooter. He's not a role player. He's an all-around player who can hit a jumper here and there, who can share the ball pretty well (2.5 assists, but he can do more if he's not in the aggressive mode he's been in the Summer League) and who can even run the ball himself. He can make good pick-n-roll's, and he can dribble inside and dunk. He's a complete all-around player. So i dunno who said he "can't miss". He can miss. He still has a great percentage but he can miss. Obviously. That said, he was just named in the Summer League All-Star Team. No Laker players were named in it.
-
^^Really? Crittenton wasn't in it? ::)
-
the locals apparently think that Golden State's No. 18 pick is supposed to make every shot.
-
The locals? Does it mean GSW fans? LOL. You know them, they're very passionate. Anyway, once again, .444% from 3pts ain't bad.
^^Really? Crittenton wasn't in it? ::)
I didn't find an article on www.lakers.com about it. Anyway this is getting really ugly, man. Let's stop it. I'm a fan of Crittenton, i've seen a couple of videos (and 2 full games) of him and i'm excited about him being a Laker. Plus he's a totally different player, like i said. Let's not make it a Belinelli vs Crittenton discussion. Belinelli is a GSW player now. I'm a Laker fan and i'll support Crittenton, Farmar, Gasol, the asian dude, Walton, Phil, etc.. like usual. I'm not a GSW fan. Let me write it clear. Just like i've never been a Toronto Raptors fan (and i know Bargnani, Parker, Garbajosa) or a Nets fan (Nachbar), etc..
