I thought tha mastering was poor. dope ass production but their flows are so dated...they talked about some much ol skool gangsta shit that no one cares about. I wish they would just ge togheter and drop something solid...they should be a west coast power house....
i LOVE Kurupt dont get me wrong, but he thinks he's better than he is...he needs to check himself...
they just need to sit down with some dope cali artists and make a classic...the Dogg Pound name is worldwide, so stop droppin indy albums all tha time..
i do give em props for following their plans tho....since they were on Death Row their next 2 albums were supposed to be called "Dogg Chit" and "West Coast Aftershock" and thats what they are doing....props for that....

As a die hard DP fan, I thought it was ok. Kurupt's lyrics were better than he has been in recent years, but his verses have no direction. Daz on the other hand, at least his verses make sense, but lyrics are trash. Thread starter is right, they spit the same old same old. I thought the production>>>>>>>>>D&TG 2>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Cali iz Active....I just wish they would have had better topics, but as Dogg Pound fans, I'm at least satisfied with the album. I know it's not no next level shit that will help hip hop, but these guys are like 40 yrs old, what do u expect?
-
one of the worst albums I have ever heard. not as bad as Cali Isnt Active but it was absolutely horrible
-
Digital Smoke was fuckin tight but everything else Daz or Kurupt has touched the last few years has been horrid.

U really think so? DS was garbo to me, but DC was not that bad. Daz & Gotti are like the only that make "bitch" songs I like, but they failed with that on Dogg Chit. Still in all, this was the best album they had put out since D&YG.
-
totally boring. out of the past 7 albums of daz and kurupt as the dpg, and their solo albums, they could have taken a song or 2 and made one good albums, and all the rest are crappy songs. I wish rappers understood that quality>quantity

6.5/10.

Damn, most of the site was on DP's collective dick when this came out. I'm suprised ppl on the Dub go back and say In The Midnight Hour & Cali iz Active were great albums, but Dogg Chit gets no love ???
-
In the midnight hour fucking blows, I listened to it once, could barely make it thru it, and never listened again. CIA is average, but the best DPG release in years excluding snoop dogg albums

I dunno bro, u already know my stance on DPG, but I despised that CIA album.

sorry did i type that wrong? i meant it in that order
1. mid nite hour
2. dogg chit
3. cali iz active

I've never been that thrilled with this album, but I still bought it anyway. I like some of the tracks, but there's a lot of ones that really aren't my style. Cali Iz Active was way better to me. I really like "A Good Azz Day," "Pull Ya Drawz Down," "Throw Ya Hood Up," "Vibe With A Pimp," and "I'll Bury Ya." That bonus track with Jayo, Glasses, and BG Knoccout and Dresta is tight too.
-
MIssed it
-
At this point I have excepted DPG for who they are, vets in the game that still make at times enjoyable music. It seems like people wait every album for that next Dogg Food album and lets be real, that ain't gonna happen. But I do think with good beats and lyrics they can make music comparable to a D&YG so I can live with that.

Yeah u typing it wrong bro. The alligator eats the biggest factor is how I was taught lol. Well, I could say the same for Midnighthour that I said about CIA. My favorite song on that album didn't even have Warren on it. I hated Frank L White, and his production overall bored me. I'm also partial to lyricism, so right off the bat I'm not gonna really love any Warren G album anyways.

Dogg Chit is a good album like DNice said don't expect nothing classic but nice to hear Daz and Kurupt without the awkward guest spots of CIA,as a diehard DPG fan myself I think the best recent album they released was SDDS by Gotti, great production and sharper rhymes from Kurupt than other recent releases

Exactly. SDDS really got my interest back in Kurupt's rhymes. I always liked Daz's stuff and So So Gangsta was good, but Kurupt I will admit for a minute there I was about to write him off. But he has been doing his thing since CIA. Guest spots, SDDS, collabo albums, putting groups out. It's funny because I thought the more he would work at this point, the worst he would sound because that meant he was not taking his time. But will all the work he is putting in this year and last year, he can still put out good material.

I liked it. Cool album. Now watch my karma drop.
same with me, everybody is getting their panties in a twist complaining all the time, thougt it banged, im not gonna complain bout the lyrics and everything, kurupt said they would make a gangsta ass album and they did
-
It was a step above CIA...but if they released this 7 years ago it'd be called a disaster.
-
it's a dope album. I don't expect nothing but gangsta lyrics from a dogg pound album, and I got what I expected. The production was bangin. It's a solid gangsta rap album.

I agree with Big Paul and Funkadelicc.
The Dogg Pound gave me exactly what I was expecting for my money.
I also think Kurupt's SDDS was a dope album.
I loved Daz's production and Kurupt's flow on that Shit.

It was Crap.

My only thing I want from Daz is more of that BOOMING bass production he had a few years ago. I mean like from his RAW days. Other than that I liked the last album. Blaze It Up is the shit. Kurupt ripped that song.
-
it's not the best dogg pound album but it still bangs,to say it's complete crap is bullshit 8)
-
i think this is thread #165 about an half assed album 8)
-
Dogg Chit was a pile of Dogg Shit with a couple of highlights........
-

LOL most naysayers will come back in a year and say what a great album it was :P
-
i liked the album but i think they need to be more diverse when it comes to dubject matter. id love to hear them speak on personal issues rather than gun, ho's and gang banging. I will support dogg pound regardless though.
-
I was very disappointed! Production was not good at all! The sound was so dated to me! I was hoping to atleast get some asisstance from the likes of Terrace Martin, Cat, Soopafly etc. It was very disappointing!
-
Most of the people who hated this album must have been confused ??? when they bought it.
For over 12 years, Daz and Kurupt have been known for a certain kind of music. 8)
Fans who buy their recordz are looking for "DPG music." 8)
They have a loyal consumer base because they put out "DPG music" 8)
Most of the Haters are 17 years olds :-[ who think that M&M and 50 cent created Rap and made it popular.
They probibly also think that 2pac is a 50 Cent Wannabee. ;)

??? Soopafly did 2 beats on the album with Daz.
Man all they did was go back to the original formula, Daz doing the bulk of the production.

yo after bumping this some more, Im actually lovin' the album now & do not find it boring like I stated in my intial post. The shit is real dope, in my opinion this & cali iz active is bout equal depending on what mood u in.
-
My thing with DC is this, all of us asked for the old school dogg pound album and that's exactly what they gave us, and to be honest I really like most of the album, but those 2 or 3 "bitch songs" in the middle totally ruin it for me, I mean it's not so much what they're saying, it's how they say it, no creativity at all, at least back in the dogg food days the bitch songs like "bomb ass pussy" and them sounded dope as hell and weren't so crude, but other than those few songs I liked the album, 3/5 i'd say its equal to CIA, and D&GII is better than both of them.
-
It was just an "OK" album.
Nothing Special
-
I think it was a pretty good album. Definitely not real commercial. I liked it.

the track with too short is a real weakness in the album, which is a shame as they could hav made a classic
but bitch dat aint my baby was the shit 8)

Most tracks are really cool. Overall an dope production, but i miss the old smooth flows from Daz and Kurupt from the Death Row days
