Title: *Pours a lil Liquor on DJ Quik's as a producer/rapper*
Post by: Detox Iz Not Active on July 29, 2007, 05:21:27 PM
my god dude fell the fukk off

If you would of told me this "So Good" trash was produced by DJ Quik 5 years ago I would have laughed in ya face

production = uninspired, unoriginal, DOG SHIT

and to listen DJ Quik spit rhymes on Safe and Sound and Rythmalism compared to his new squeaky/constipated flow is like comparing a Dr. Dre beat to a Meech Wells beat

Well I understand where you are coming from!
However we still don't know who made the beat!
It might have been AMG,or sumbody other producer
Perhpas him & Quik  have made decided that they both were handle the production on the album!
It's still too ealry to really judge!!

As for Quik Rapping??
I think he was pretty heated on this track compared to his performance on "Can U Werk With dat"
He was darn near the best on that track, AMG & Rich Boy didn't evn come close!
quik stood out!
and for that i'm happy!

Hopefully the third single-If goes that far,
will be a more Quik kinda style!

Talk about compromising artistic integrity for exposure.  If dude is about the money he should've invested his previous earnings.  This is fucking disgusting.  Especially admitting it outright.  Respect has been lost for both Quik & AMG.  Period.

I dont think he fell off. I think he conformed to mainstream. He started making music for the charts, clubs and basicly doing just whats hot right now.

I dont agree with it but i think thats more accurate.

DJ quik isn't go to move any units with the mainstream, only thing he's doing to turning away his loyal fan base that bought his indy album

I could understand why they made "Can you work wit dat", cause they wanted a catchy mainstream single for Interscope. But this... Soo Good... the worst DJ Quik song ever? Even if he didn't make the beat, HIS NAME IS ALL OVER IT. He's a producer, and he would lay vocals on a beat this bad? He'd put it on his label debut? DJ Quik sucks, and AMG has always sucked.

Don't listen Qwik & AMG... This beat along with how the vocals are produced.. I'd love to see some bush/minor league producers pull this off!

I will have to listen to the album in full to make my judgment on the Fixxers.

man quik said it himself, he used the same formula for years and it wasn't working, in the sense that he wasn't getting much acclaim outside of the West Coast...if he continued to drop albums that sound like Safe & Sound or Rhythmalism forever people would be complaining and starting threads like "why don't Quik ever switch up his style, his shit always sounds the same". dude is a musical genius but he's never received the commercial success that ought to go along with talent of his caliber. after years of giving us the music that we wanna hear, why not give him a chance to step into a different spotlight, give the mainstream what they wanna hear, and hopefully get paid like he oughta be? after all with a discography like his doesn't he deserve that kind of success?

I donno....personally, the music itself has nothing to do with him being underrated and getting no love outside the West. It's the fact that people outside the West, particularly fans and not those in the industry, don't even realize that Quik is still around, and have no idea that he's as dope as he is. He virtually gets no play in the South, at least in Florida, and "Can u werk wit dat" may have got more play if it was a stronger song...but even with it sounding just like a southern song and getting a little push, it still didn't make much noise. I have met a few people out here who've heard it, but I only heard it on radio once, and I don't go to the club enough to know if they play it.

Now here's how I see it....if he could make the music appeal to the South and what they like, while still keeping the musicianship he is known for and not stripping his sound down to D4L level minus some...then it would be no problem. But "Can you werk wit dat" doesn't even sound like a lead single for D4L, Franchise Boys, Gorilla Zoe or anybody else. West Coast artists usually just can't make a southern record as good as people in the south do, even if you see the south's music as being wack at times. Fact is, Betcha can't do it like me, Hood n'gga, and even the horrific "Crank dat Soulja Boy" are all much more catchy than Quik's song.
