The J-Rich deal will make you worse off this season IMO...

nah that was a great trade for GS.  Im one of J-rich's biggest fans but cmon, its obvious that GS got the best of the deal, its easy to see.  The Warriors will be just fine and tcall me crazy but I actually like the way their team is assembled right now compared to what it would of been if they traded for KG.  The Warriors are on the rise, watch out.

How does trading Jason Richardson for a pick make you better? Maybe in the long run, but not next year, obviously...No way are they better than they woulda' been with KG. Unless they make some changes, they will once again struggle to make the playoffs.

If they run a similar lineup to last year, I'd assume....BD, Monta Ellis, Stephen Jackson, Al Harrington, and Brandan Wright start from 1-5, with Barnes and Biedrins as 6th and 7th men. Wright is MUCH MORE equipped to play center than Al Harrington or Barnes, who shared time at C last season.

I can't say the Richardson trade will help a whole lot, and they should have got a bit more for him...but it will let Monta shine more, and gives them a true post player.

the j-rich trade MIGHT help them down the road, but not right now ofcourse...don't forget J.rich wasn't exactly tearing shit up for them last season

i'd be more worried about the potential of losing barnes & pietrus...that would make suck, i doubt they'll make the playoffs if they lose those guys

Pietrus will probably end up on the Heat. J-Rich is gone. KG didn't pan out. B.Diddy is still injury prone. Looks like the Warriors future is riding on Ellis, Biedrins, and Belinelli.

If J Oneal is traded to Oakland, what would Oakland have to give up?

J-Rich was injured for a good portion of the season, and he started the season on bad knees, but when he came back with stronger knees after 2 months, he was a key component in their playoff push, at both ends of the court...PeACe

Croshere might join team

While the Warriors won't be getting dream acquisition Kevin Garnett, they appear ready to make their first dent in free agency. Golden State has been in talks with forward Austin Croshere, according to a league source, and is close to signing the 10-year veteran.

The 6-foot-10 Croshere averaged 3.7 points and 3.0 rebounds in 11.9 minutes for Dallas last season after spending his first nine years in Indiana. He would give the Warriors some depth with the fate of their own free agents, Matt Barnes and Mickael Pietrus, still to be decided.

Negotiations to keep Barnes in Oakland will start over this week with Aaron Goodwin after Barnes switched agents for the second time in two months.

Barnes filed paperwork to terminate short-lived agent Dan Fegan two weeks ago, league sources said. The Bay Area-based Goodwin, who also reps top draft picks Kevin Durant and Al Horford, is expected to seek a multiyear deal from the Warriors.

Nelson update: John O'Connor, the representative for coach Don Nelson, met with Warriors team president Robert Rowell over lunch in Oakland on Tuesday to continue renegotiating Nelson's contact. Nelson is due $3.1 million in each of the next two seasons, but is seeking to have up to an additional $3 million in annual bonus money guaranteed. "Our talks have been conversational rather than adversarial, and positive in tone," O'Connor said. "However, we are a ways from being finished."

Warriors Want Posey For Pietrus?

August 1, 2007 - 11:26 am
Miami Herald -
Though a sign-and-trade with Golden State involving free agents Mickael Pietrus and James Posey makes sense, Miami is reluctant because it doesn't want to pay a substantial luxury tax. (Miami already is about $1 million over the threshold.)

The Heat prefers to move players already under contract for Pietrus (like Michael Doleac), but the Warriors haven't taken the bait.

i think the warriors need to adress their outside shooting,  they are a good defensive team but they really need more shooting.

Barnes Gone? Warriors Sign Perovic, Croshere Is Next

Quote
Ten-year veteran forward Austin Croshere is expected to sign a one-year deal with Golden State this morning, team sources said. And the Warriors have inked 2006 draft pick Kosta Perovic to a multiyear deal, according to Perovic's agent, Bill Duffy.

The moves mean Golden State -- which had no official comment on either signing but is expected to announce both deals today -- has 14 of its 15 roster slots filled. That includes restricted free-agent forward Mickael Pietrus, who is on the Warriors' books at the team's qualifying offer of $3.47 million, and doesn't leave much room for rookie forward Stephan Lasme, a second-round selection, unrestricted free-agent forward Matt Barnes or any other new acquisition they might be targeting.

Barnes was on fire in the playoffs. I don't understand why the Warriors (or any other team) don't seem to want him.

Because they're trying to fix something that isn't broken.

Barnes returning to the Warriors (http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/chronicle/archive/2007/08/06/SPQ7RDFVK2.DTL)

Janny Hu, Chronicle Staff Writer
Monday, August 6, 2007

Months after his "Believe" tattoo became intertwined with the Warriors' playoff slogan, Matt Barnes is believing in himself again. Faced with an increasingly stingy free-agent market, Barnes is returning to Oakland on a one-year contract with hopes of scoring a bigger payday next summer.

The two sides agreed to terms, according to agent Aaron Goodwin, and Barnes is expected to officially re-sign today. League sources said Barnes will make $3.5 million, the remainder of the Warriors' mid-level exception.

Thus ends a frustrating summer for Barnes, who originally sought a long-term contract starting at the mid-level exception of $5.36 million after his breakout year under coach Don Nelson.

Barnes averaged career-highs across the board and was critical to the Golden State's postseason run with 11.1 points and 5.7 rebounds in 30 minutes a game. But teams were reluctant to commit so much money to a player who earned the league minimum last year and has been on five teams in four seasons.

Barnes also went through three agents while seeking his new deal, firing Bill Neff during the playoffs, signing with Dan Fegan, then dropping Fegan in favor of Goodwin two weeks ago.

The Warriors remained Barnes' preferred destination through it all, and rather than sign a multi-year deal also offered by the club, Barnes will try to increase his stock before re-entering the market in a year.

"In the end, it probably made more sense for Matt to show not only the Warriors, but the NBA, that he's a serious player," Goodwin said. "Given the opportunity, which he was last year, he can play in this league for a number of years to come."

Barnes' return essentially makes the Warriors nonplayers in free agency. Though the team still has a one-year qualifying offer of $3.5 million out to Mickael Pietrus, the Warriors have now used up all of their midlevel exception between Barnes and center Kosta Perovic, who can make up to $1.8 million next season.

Golden State still has its bi-annual exception of $1.8 million left, but any other additions outside of league-minimum contracts will have to come via trade. If Pietrus returns, the Warriors would have 16 players under guaranteed contracts and be forced to cut one before the season starts.
