We already told you that Dubcnn's Summer Of Heat Interview Series was going to be full of surprises, and today is no exception. We've got a new exclusive interview with Omar Cruz, and we've also been blessed with the privliedge of giving you the world premiere of his new single, "Hang With My Doggz!"
Dubcnn recently sat down with Omar Cruz for a new exclusive interview before any other media outlet could get ahold of him. This extensive feature covers many different topics.
First, we talk about his new street single “Hang With My Doggz,” which is about to blow up all over the radio. We’re giving you the world premiere of the finished track as well, so you can listen to it after reading about the creation of the song!
We also go into detail about Omar’s new album, “The Sign Of The Cruz.” Mr. Cruz explains his situation over at Geffen/Interscope, which is allowing him to have the album sound exactly the way he wants it to. We also speak about the concept behind the album, and the surprises he has lined up for it. In addition to this, we cover his perspective on West Coast unity, and he recalls his experience in the studio recording the “Powerhouse Anthem" with WC and The Game.

This update just made my day 8) Shoutout to the whole Dubcnn staf for giving Omar the proper exposure.
I've just listened to "I Hang With My Doggz". Pretty damn good street single, I must say. O Dot Cruz came with it on the mic, and Javie Lopez dropped a monstrous beat. I'm sure this'll bang in my car...
Gonna check out the interview tomorrow. Something to look forward to, that's for sure.

I had it too but it was not good quality like this one. This was sound like if they re recorded,mixed & mastered it. This version is dope ass fuck.

You know, it would be good if there was an acapella. The Ice Cube sample is a good choice, but I feel the beat needs a little lift - something with movitation. He's putting Mexicanos up.

Just checked out the interview. Like Crooked I, Omar always comes across as a very down-to-earth kinda guy. And he's articulate as well...unlike most rappers, who end practically every sentence with "you know what I mean homie?", "motherfucker this and that", ...lol, I can't stand that.
Anyways, dude seems to be a breath of fresh air on the West. Him & the B.Y.I. team actually put in thought in regards to an approach for "The Sign Of The Cruz". Definitely glad to hear that he stuck with his main producers Rome and Javie Lopez for his album. I'm digging their sound.
Btw, I found this part of the interview very interesting:
This album represents the struggle. It represents blood, sweat, and tears – not just from me, [but] from my people, my peers. We’ve just been overlooked in this game for so long that I feel that I’ve got to step up to the plate, and that’s what I’m doin’. Like I said, this album is covering a lot of subject matter you probably don’t hear on other albums today. There ain’t no steppin’ or snappin’ on this album. It’s some raw shit – street shit. I like to call it “reality rap,” because what you hear right now on the radio and in the clubs: it’s fantasy. [Other rappers] are putting a lifestyle out there that they can’t be living.
I know a lot of people think like me, [and] they’re tired of that shit, so I’m taking it back to the streets. Like I said, it’s not just for Latinos – it’s for hip-hop, period. I’m an MC – I happen to be Latino, and I’m proud of it. But I’m proud to be a respected MC [that is] respected by my peers, and I’m trying to be a force.
Cruz and the B.Y.I. team seem to have good vision of what they're aiming at with this album. Hopefully dude will get the proper recognition, not just on the West, but throughout the U.S. period.

On a side-note: there was a bulletin message last week on MySpace inviting all Omar Cruz fans to a video shoot for "Hang With My Doggz", so a video will still be shot apparently. Don't understand why they decided to wait so long. Maybe they will re-release the street single again, since "early 08" (release date for the album) is coming close now. We'll see...
