Free Agents Now Calling Boston
In a rather amazing turn of events, Boston has suddenly become a desirable city for NBA free agents. Agents for legitimate veteran players were actually calling the Celtics yesterday, looking to place their clients in Boston as news of Kevin Garnett’s arrival spilled out further.
Presently, agents and league sources confirm that the Celts are looking at four point guards and five big men as they try to find the right players to support their talented trio.
Eddie House, Troy Hudson, Brevin Knight and Charlie Bell are reportedly on the point guard list. Bell is a restricted free agent, which makes his situation a little different (Milwaukee can match any offer he gets). Hudson had his contract bought out by the Timberwolves yesterday, making him a free agent. And while the C’s were previously steering away from Knight because of alleged locker room issues, a source said, “Hey, just about everyone that’s out there now has (a few) spots.”
As for big men, Doc Rivers said the Celts are “very interested” in Dikembe Mutombo as a backup center, while P.J. Brown, Michael Ruffin, Calvin Booth and Scot Pollard are also under consideration.
Celtics Sign House And Manuel
The Celtics signed guards Eddie House and Jackie Manuel this afternoon to one-year contracts, Danny Ainge said.
"Eddie is one of the best shooters in the league," Ainge said. "He adds firepower to our bench and depth to our backcourt."
With regard to Manuel, a former North Carolina player, "He's a great defender."
While no additional moves are imminent, Ainge also said the Celtics "were not done yet."

Nice core. Add a defensive stopper (Posey and Patterson are still available) and the Celtics would be killers.

pretty good pickup...won't really fix there PG problem though...Just add some much-needed depth 2 it..,They should of picked up Brevin Knight, he would come cheap, and is much better than House...I guess they still can

Boston has A LOT of faith in Rondo. Hell they must if they're trusting him to be the floor general on the same court as Garnett, Pierce, and Allen. But Eddie House is more of an undersized shooting guard (which is fine for a bench player).

Yea, And i see why...but i don't think Rondo is the right PG for the celtics of today, he showed a lot of potential last year, and i think should be great in a year or two...I'm not saying house is a bad pickup, but he certainly doesn't solve the PG woes...I thought the same as u (he not a PG, under-sized SG) but i am seeing a lot of sites that reported the signing linking him 2 there PG problems :-\

Eddie House is a huge liability on defense...Yes, he can come in and provide instant offense here and there for 10 minute stretches, but overall, he's a guy you want buried at the end of your bench... Smush Parker > Eddie House.

Sorry to break the bad news to you, but Jefferson now resides in Minnesota. The deal was Jefferson/Green/Gomes/Telfair/Ratliff + 2 first round draft picks and cash for Kevin Garnett.

Oddly enough, you talked so much shit about the Lakers squad when Kobe was, but now all of a sudden they're better than KG, Pierce and Allen? You realize that even if their supporting cast wasn't the best before, having two more options on the floor will open up so much more for the team, giving others oppurtunity to step up? I can't believe how you can honestly say the Lakers have a better team than the Celtics when you sat here just a couple months ago and shitted on the entire team....

Man KG went to the '04 WCF having Cassell and the Strangler. Of course he can make the Finals attacking from the East, having Pierce and Allen. They should just have a more experienced PG who doesn't lose the ball all the time under pressure and shit. But Allen will always be a major threat from beyond the arc, Pierce is a versatile scorer who can create for himself, and KG will fuck 'em up in the post and from mid-range. All 3 of them can pass. Shit will be nice.

And the Laker squad is exactly the same?...To tell you the truth, I believe that an added year of triangle experience for players like Bynum, Farmar, Kwame, Luke, Mo Evans, VladRad etc. will make a difference, along with the fact that we got rid of a bench player running our point guard spot, and replaced him with a veteren leader point guard with triangle AND championship experience...And what about the re-signing of Chris Mihm, who didn't play all last year? Arguably the best back-up center in the league... and Javaris Crittenton, one of the best point guard prospects in the draft....We're easily a 50 win team. Yes, Kupchak fucked us over in the past (missing out on players like Boozer, BD, etc), but that's not to take away from the fact that the Lakers still can be a top team if they can stay healthy...Lets not forget last season, before everyone started getting injured, we WERE amongst the top teams in the league...And the Celtics? They have a GREAT big 3, but until Ainge can prove that he's capable of filling in the roster holes and adding some depth, then I still don't think they're anywhere near THEE team to beat...PeACe

I was talking about them, then you got belligerent. Now you do so once again. What I have to say about your situation is the small detail that your franchise player is very unhappy and demanded a few things and none of them got solved yet. He also got to know what it is like to play with good players like Kidd during that Team USA stuff. He also lost body weight because of depression and because he realized how his body started give in and how he wouldn't play basketball forever. He also saw how the fucking Celtics went from #1 pick candidates to contenders. He also saw how Gasol is out of the picture now. He also saw how JO openly semi-requested a trade to the Lakers. Now if JO doesn't get traded to them there is no way in fucking hell he will be at the training camp. Bird knows this, he's a fox. He will gut the crap out of the Lakers or trade him to NJ.

The thing i don't understand is why Kobe is making all this noise. I mean if i'm correct he can opt-out after this season? So what's the problem? If he wants to contend he should opt-out and sign to San Antonio, or Phoenix, or to the Celtics, New Jersey, Detroit, wherever he wants. But if he demands a trade now, no team could make a good offer to get him and STILL be good enought to contend. I mean Kobe wants to play for the Bulls? But if the Bulls trade 4-5 guys to the Lakers how the fuck could they be ready to contend soon? That's what i don't understand. And it's the same with JO. Why the fuck doesn't they opt-out, if to contend is really what they want. They opt-out, they get a paycut and they sign to a good team. I'm getting tired of all those players complaining. They don't have balls to opt-out and they don't want to loose a single dollar, that's the truth.
