Title: Will Detox be a classic?
Post by: GunMaster G-9 on August 04, 2007, 08:57:23 AM
Just wanted to know how many people think it will or will not be a classic when the shit drops. His last 2 are definite classics. I know you have to hear an album to judge it. But based on all the hype etc. what do you think?

I think it will be a classic album.  :)

There is no doubt that "Detox" will be a classic album........at least for Dre's sake this album better be a classic, if not in my opinion it would tarnish his legacy with all the hype to this album..... :-\

absolutely not, probably one of the most let down albums ever if it is actually released.  there is too much hype for it, it won't ever live up to the hype

I doubt Dre will release a "flop" type album as his final album.......I know its puttin alot more pressure on this album with all the push backs and hype but I believe there is no way that Dre would hype something thats gonna be a letdown...........lets just hope, at least.......... ;)

It might not be considered a real classic the moment it comes out (thereīll definitely be people who make it out to be the reincarnation of hip hop when in that moment it might be not) but maybe after some time people will recognize itīs impact. Like many said, itīs hard - maybe even impossible - to deliver after such a long time but in the long run it will turn out as that album that everyone expected from him.

Hes dropped classics after classics, never had a shitty album or anything that hes ever dropped. So if this isnt a classic, it would have been btter to have not released it at all i think, it would ruin dudes legacy, so hes got alotta riding on this album, he best take care of his bidness, and make hits!!!

exactly how i feel. it will drop and people will be disappointed because its no what they expected... (no Game, or too many "East Coast Rappers" like Nas, not fuckin with the West enough, etc...) but it will be a classic to all of Dre's REAL fans.

A very solid release ( ala GRODT or the Documentary) but I'm sure I'll be disappointed by the fact it won't be something fresh and won't have a whole new sound.. I mean til 2003 you can choose the best Dre beats , make a great album with them but these beats aren't that  "innovative"

Dr. Dre presents the aftermath, truth hurts, the firm...none of those are even close to classics.

Dre's solo albums have so far been classics. However the hype for this will get many dissapointed but a couple years later and everyone will be saying how good the album was.

the classics far outweigh the non classics in Dre's career... plus he is 2 for 2 on the solo tip... even the non classics had memorable jams like "been there done that" and "phone tap"...

yes.

the songs that leaked or made other albums are sick.....hes gonna drop detox, then all the artists underhim, cuz they could still flop, the million dre sells first week will make up for it

There's a first time for everything...and I think Detox..when it finally drops, will be Dre's first non-classic album. It'll be a good album, and like somone said it'll probably have classic 2-3 classic tracks, but I dont see Dre as the consistent beat maker he used to be.

I'm also skeptical if Bishop Lamont and Co. are going to be able to do what Eminen, Xzibit, Hitman did for 2001, and what Snoop, DPG did for Chronic.

Either way though, its crazy to be debating this anyway...lets just hope the album drops, and then worry about classic or not classic later.

don't matter if it's a classic or not I'm not buying it, I'm downloading it. Dre decided to screw with my anticipations, so Imma screw his record sales.

IMO all the "Detox" talk should cease until Dre has more than a 10 second clip on YouTube and there is a confirmed single and video.  All this shit does is piss me off.  There are current projects to discuss, you know.

Wasn't Bishop Lamont supposed to drop this summer and Detox drop this fall  :-\

I'm hoping for both albums to be classics.

Remember what happend when "Star Wars; The Phantom Menace" finally premiered?
The fans hated it,they had dreamed about a new Star Wars movie for years, anticipating it even more than the Dr.Dre fans anticipate DETOX and got dissapointed. Was the movie that bad,no.... but the hype from the FANS killed it.
The same thing happens now,the FANS over hype DETOX.
Dr.Dre hardly say a pip himself.
So maybe for the legacy of Dr.Dre,DETOX should be put to rest?
