NOBLE, Okla. -- A police officer shooting at a snake apparently killed a 5-year-old boy who was fishing at a nearby pond, officials said.
Austin Haley was fishing with his grandfather, Jack Tracy, when Tracy said he heard a shot and saw something hit the water just a few feet in front of the boat dock where he was standing.
Moments later, a second shot hit Austin in the head.
A Noble police officer who had responded to a report of a snake in a tree apparently fired the deadly shot while trying to kill the snake on Friday, City Manager Bob Wade said.

Damnnn, fuck i got 2 lil bros around his age to, 7 year olds, man if that shit happend i dont know what i would do. Cops these days, i feel for kids family, 1 minute they know hes out fishing with his grandfather and the next there told he got shot in the head. :o. Smfh!!!

I take it by the lack of outrage and media coverage that both the kid and the cop were white.
This guy is clearly an idiot and should be kicked off the force with out a doubt. I won't charge him with murder bu something equivolent to what drunk drivers get charged with. He is firing a deadly weapon and he doesn't check around to see if anyone might be in the area? That's just plain stupid.
I don't see what's with all the fuck cops BS as far as this case goes. This is just a case of stupid human judgement. It wasn't some cop on a power trip. Now if he gets treated differently than a a regular hunter who shot a kid by accident gets treated then it's time to notify your local congressman and senator.
