I know Jay did that track "Murder Marcyville" & Jayo did a few different one's dissing Jay & all of the Roc A Fella camp, but what got this whole beef started off?
Plus, I assume that the beef as since been squashed? Does anyone know how that happened?
Jay was on a national-level scale already, so I was just real suprised to hear him even address Jayo like that with the track I mentioned above.
"Jayo you're not a felon, you're a misdimeanor" - Jay Z
lol I love that line.....
-
"Is he a blood, is he a crip"
His rap from Change the Game remix...Jayo thought it was bullshit that he was talking bout that gang stuff
-
its because jayo didnt like how on that one cut from roc la familia he was saying in the begining.....'is he a blood, i he a crip....." and jayo took offense, he even quotes it on that one song he dissed him on off of that henchmen compilation
-
i thought Jayo Felony owned Jay-Z on Trued Up
"Is He A Blood Or His He A Crip, Nigga I'll Socc That Faggot In His Big Ass Lips"
"The Only J I Know Is Bullet Loco Nigga J-A-Y-O, F-E-L-O N-Y C/See Me"
-
kinda a dumb reason 4 jayo 2 get mad IMO
but some of there diss lines were nice, both that is
-
i think he used that crip blood thing as a cover, he was really pissed off at roc because when he was on def jam they favoured jayz and didnt do shit for jayo, in his eyes.
-

Yeah that makes more sense. He was getting stepped on around Def Jam around that time.
According to Jayo, he was tired of Jay-Z talking about Crips/Bloods on his records. There was the "I'm not a Blood or a Crip but I put dubs on the whip, drugs on the strip..." line and the "Everybody wanna know is he that is he this...is he Blood is he Crip" line at the beginning of another song. Never really made sense to me either, but one things for sure - that was a dumb move! Jayo was already getting the short end of the stick at Def Jam. After than he was pretty much black balled from the industry.
Oh yeah, Jay-Z is a pussy for waiting a year and a half to respond with that 1 bar.
-
Oh yeah, Jay-Z is a pussy for waiting a year and a half to respond with that 1 bar.
and yet that 1 bar dismissed Jayo and any other disses he could throw at Hov.

esjay is a streit up mark

No it was just pointless in responding. By that point Jayo was beefin with Snoop, working on a new album, and preparing for rehab.

...ok

From a 2003 interview with Jayo Felony:
Nima : I know this is old, but can you tell us what happened between you and Jay-Z again?
Uhm you know basically man, I mean I feel at the time when the shit went down I was the only one speakin' up for the WestCoast and bein' an MC, I felt a motherfucker was disrespectin the WestCoast when they said they wear more bling and all that bullshit at the Grammy and SoulTrain, and nigga won't do thang, and that shit is held on the WestCoast, and if that's not a subliminal diss I don't know what it is, and niggas act like they don't know what I'm talkin' bout they can suck my dick! Everybody know the nigga is disrespecting' the WestCoast, and I was the only motherfucker to speak up, so if they don't like it they can kiss my ass!
Nima : Cause alotta people were sayin' you were just doin' it to get attention...
I don't need attention man, I make hit records I don't need no motherfuckin' attention, I don't do shit for attention, you know what I mean? I can make a hot record and thats gone get me all the fuckin' attention I need. I never needed to diss nobody, I been doin' my thang all my fuckin' life. If it was to get attention, I woulda fuckin SLAPPED him, to get attention, I woulda went and slapped the shit outta one of these fuckin' executives, or one of these motherfuckin' so called superstars, if I wanted to get some attention, you know what I mean? I was ridin' for my fuckin' coast, thats what the fuck I was doin', so anybody say I wanted to get attention they can suck my dick too!
-
^great reasoning.
-
can someone upload these tracks?
-
man i hate it when unaffiliated rappers like jayz talk that blood/crip shit........especially when niggas from NY talk that shit.....fuck that that shit pisses me off too
-
man certain niggas from NY came up tough
not ones like jigga or mobb deep ofcourse but not everyone from ny is studio gangsta
-
I dont know if you knew this but months before this shit kicked off jayo was offered an option to sign with the roc and def jam wasnt havin it...
this was spoke about in murder dog and xxl.
he actually was close with beens and bleek.
-
Oh yeah, Jay-Z is a pussy for waiting a year and a half to respond with that 1 bar.
and yet that 1 bar dismissed Jayo and any other disses he could throw at Hov.
how tha fuck so? that line was plain

If I can recall the convo correctly, jay tried to sign jayo, he chose not to. then he hit him with that "One shot Dillinger, one shot killin ya
It's only one Roc La Familia"
Obviously jayo is One shot Kill...
-
Jayo finished him when he shot the video for Trued Up in Marcy projects tho.
-
Geez the thread upping is crazy lately. Ehh I guess its better than making a new one for overly discussed topics.
Interesting that jay tried to sign jayo. Is there any proof / articles that says he turned it down? If this dude really turned down deals from rocafella, dogghouse, and g-unit then he goes down in history as an epic failure.
-
Jayo finished him when he shot the video for Trued Up in Marcy projects tho.
never seen this and I cant find it neither
-

Yeah, me neither. I think it was finished but never released though.
-
It wasnt released as far as I know. They had a article on it in an old Source or XXL where they were with him on the set of the video in Marcy.
-
I've been looking for that video for years too
Jayo said BET banned it, so maybe it did get some brief play? Lunatic should get at him and see if there's any chance of it being released now to the net
-
Jay-Z disses are fucking corny. He always gets killed with his boring flow. Where would Jay be if Pac and Big were still alive? Where would he be if he didnt have all that money?
-
kinda a dumb reason 4 jayo 2 get mad IMO
funny how crips beef for dumb ass reasons..
another dumb reason..
quik vs eiht..
-
I remember reading on some website (westcoast 2k maybe at the time, this was in 2000-2001) that Jay-Z had his goons show up armed at a Jayo Felony video shoot but i'm not sure, does anybody else remember this too or am I just trippin ?

thats a good observation.

Its funny jigga felt even obligated to diss jayo at all. Maybe he felt a bit threatened?????
-

That's cuz Jayo was actually somebody back then and Jay-Z wasn't the rap God he is now.
-
I seen some behinds the scenes footage on YouTube too... it was on some DVD I think called Rap Or Die?

Dont mean to burst yo bubble B! But jayo felony was never somebody dogg!! Seriously i love his music but he just another broke gangsta rapper b. Jay z had a what? 6 mil album by then he and dmx were the top rappers at the time.
-
^ jayo was rollin heavy with dpg back then. He may not have been a heavyweight but he was around
-

Even before that he had national hits like "Whatcha Gonna Do" and major artists on the remix DMX and Method. He was featured on The Show soundtrack not to mention he was putting out classic albums back then. Jayo had it crackin' back then!
-

Yeah, me neither. I think it was finished but never released though.
the video was finished. It made it to the net, although not in very good quality. I probably have it...I will have to check
-
Jayo Felony was always a respected mc tho. Jam Master Jay (Run-DMC) discovered him
,
-
man i hate it when unaffiliated rappers like jayz talk that blood/crip shit........especially when niggas from NY talk that shit.....fuck that that shit pisses me off too
like 2pac?
-
^ jayo was rollin heavy with dpg back then. He may not have been a heavyweight but he was around
yeah but he wasnt really known like that B.
and jayo prolly had one classic album(if that son)
and im not denying his skills thats why im saying jay z felt a bit threatened but to compare the careers of jayo and jay z is ridicolous B!
jayo aint even go gold on nothing mayne.
-
Jayo was on Def Jam, he was signed to JMJ's label too at some point, as others pointed out he had been featured with the DMX's and Method Man's and was allegedly close to Rocafella at some point. he was by no means a household name but by 2000 I think his notoriety was well-established in the Rap game to the point that even eastcoast heads would know of him. so it's not ludicrous to imagine Jay-Z responding to his attacks. but i think some more serious shit must have happened behind the scenes for jay-z to have armed people show up at Jayo's video shoot.
that was around the same time Jayo fell out with Snoop if i remember correctly, maybe a bit earlier

Yeah, i think so. Jayo was dissin' both on "Crip Hop".

Damn, i hope you got that video.

here is the True'd up video. Like I said before, not the best quality, but at least you can see it

I heard that jayo reached out jigga to guest a track on jayos and the fee was to high according to jayo and he took that as an insult and that was when the beef started. But that dosent make sense if u look at the interview posted by nima in this thread. But i know i read it somewhere about that fee and i think it was on a jayo interview here on dubcnn but im not sure.
