Fuck yeah football season has begun and now its time for Fantasy Football.Just wondering who here plays FF and who are your sleepers and bust.
-
My main player I ALWAYS draft was Tiki Barber. I had him every year, and I usually had Shaun Alexander on other teams. The one year I had them in one team, I won everything. My sleeper that year was Carson Palmer, who rocked the fuckin' year and put up better stats than Manning. Last year my sleeper was Frank Gore, who I'm making my knew Tiki and will be my first round pick, UNLESS LT is avalible.
My sleeper Tatum Bell.
-
my sleeper i would have to say Travis Henry.
Im in a 1 player keeper league and i have been in this league for 6 years now.Take a guess who my keeper has been throught the years?Yep Tomlinson and i have 1 super bowl,+ 4 Playoff appearances to show for it.Last year my sleeper was Mcnabb and i was tearing up the league until he got hurt my record was 8-2 when Mcnabb went down.I still managed to get to the super bowl but i lost to a Marvin Harrison 3 td Game.UGH!!!!!!
THe year before last i had Barlow as my sleeper and my entire season just went down the drain that year because of injuries/suspensions that year I had J.Walker,T.O,and Darrell Jackson.
Trust me that was me worst season ever very fustrating.
-
vincent jackson wr for the chargers. championship!!!
-
This was in 2002, when Rich Gannon was MVP and the Raiders made the Super Bowl. Sad part, I still came in 5th. Most frustrating year EVER!

This was the team last year that was in first at the end of the season after a last season charge, just to lose in the first round to the 8th seed in a 14 team league. Now that really sucked.

yahoo is free. I think ESPN is too, and the NFL has some free leagues. I never play for money. With my luck, I pay, go the whole season kicking ass and lose in the playoffs when my team gets injuried, or a late season injury screws me over.
-
Decieving title...
-
Just drafted, some morons got the Bears and Ravens defense before I could, and I was ready to draft Chi-Town. Dammit. Still got Cedric Benson, Frank Gore and Carson Palmer, with Randy Moss and Jerry Porter, both whom I'm expecting to have monster years. We'll see.
-
what round did you pick Benson in?I really like him this year.
-
4th round. I was going to get a D, but saw Benson and it was too good to pass. Sadly, it cost me the Raven's or the Bear's D. But it was worth it.
-
I just drafted my team too, theyre pretty solid:
QB - Peyton Manning (fuck yeah! Last pick of the first round)
Jake Delhomme
RB - Cedric Benson
Lawrence Maroney
Brandon Jacobs
Lamont Jordan
Jerious Norwood (watch for him this year)
WR - Darrell Jackson
Calvin Johnson
Reggie Brown
Drew Bennett
TE - Benjamin Watson
Heath Miller
K - Adam Vinateri
DEF - Miami
I think Im gonna need WR help, plus I need another DEF, but thats a start, im ready to tear shit up
-
^ hey bro keep an eye out for Vincent Jackson WR for SD if he hasnt been taken yet you should get him.My Main Draft for my money league is this Saturday and im going to be like a hawk reading my notes and shit.I get the 9th pick out of 10 and its a snake draft so i could get 2 awsome players for my first 2 picks. The good thing is i aready have LT and this will be my last year with him in this keeper league so i have to win it at least 1 more time.
I saw on espn travis henry got hurt with a strained knee so there goes my sleeper pick :-\.
-
We're having our draft on Thursday. I got the 5th overall pick. What's yalls basic strategy - obviously start with an RB, but do you grab 2 RBs, then a QB, then WR or what?
Last year was hilarious. I was steady picking up whoever's team defense was playing against The Raiders. I pissed off so many people when they realized what I was doing. It lead to it being banned this year, lol.
-
I usually go best player first, so if Manning is there, or Larry Johnson, or LT of the Chargers, then I'll get them. I had the 7th overall, and I picked up Gore knowing that Palmer will be there for the second round. People usually get RBs first round, so it's safe to hold off on a QB until round 2 or 3, except Manning. Manning will go 1st round every year. Since everyone goes RB, try to get the best on first, with the 6th pick, Manning and LT and Johnson will be gone. If you can get a great QB, it's ok to go second round, read notes though and make sure that the QB is in a good situation. Brady has never been the best QB to have, usually a 3rd rounder, but he has Stallworth and Moss, is it a good idea. I usually go RB third, but I used it on Moss this year, last time I drafted Moss was his first year on the Raiders. He started hot, I traded him for Shaun Alexander who had a MONSTER season and I won. I drafted Moss to trade again. But if he isn't hot, he'll be solid with Brady throwing to him. If you can't get the Ravens or Bears D in the 4th or 5th round, really no other D is worth getting that earily. Just add WR and RB depth. That'll take you further baring injuries. My biggest mistake, I always draft my starters first, never adding important depth and my teams ALWAYS, except one year, die at the end. I finished in 1st last year, only to lose in the first round with injuries. The year before I had depth because the Randy Moss trade gave me Alexander and my starter became my depth. Luckily everyone played the full year, so I won the year, but injuries and lack of depth hurt me most every year. I changed up and got depth this year in high scoring positions. Oh yeah... one more thing... WR is usually a position you'll struggle with... so if you don't get TO or Chad Johnson, don't worry, the people that pick them up sacraficed Palmer, Manning and Benson to get them, and those players will score more that TO or Chad. A good year for a receiver doesn't even average a TD a game.
-
I always start with a RB unless im the 6th pick or beyond then ill take manning if hes still available, then ill go rb, rb unless theres a nice reciever still on the board, and one more rb after that if I take a wr in the third, after that I look at the people on the board and see who I like, i usually do mad homework before tho, but I think ill do pretty good, Im seriously waiting for Norwood to bust out this year I think he will tear mad shit up, mark my words

Qb's come a dime a dozen the best way to draft is usually RB WR RB depending on where u pick. i usually dont draft qb's until around the time u drafted yours so i would say good job

Good team you got there but it looks like your a little weak at your WR depth although Jackson could be nice.
-
Boldin and Housh will be solid. I think Housh will be #1 in Cinci. Mike Furrey led the entire NFC in catches last year so im looking for him to have another decent year. Hopefully Jackson emerges as the #2 passing option in SD behind Gates that should help me out a lot
-
here is my team and remember in my league DEFENSES start with 24pts and add or gain points basedon yds allowed pts allowed and sacks, fmbls, int,etc... So defenses are as important as RB's. and we do an auction style draft.

LDT, Travis Henry, Chester Taylor, Micheal Turner (in case LT went down)
Qb's Start 2
Big Ben, Matt Leinart, Steve McNair, Joey Harrington (for bye weeksonly, could be a sleeper tho)
Defenses Start 2
RAVENS, PATRIOTS, jets, Titans
Wr's Start 3
Steve Smith, Donald Driver, Darrel Jackson, Santonio Holmes, RonaldCurry
Te's start 1
Alge Crumpler, Dallas Clark
K- Robbie Gould
THATS A TITLE TEAM!!! HENRY WILL HAVE 1500 yds this year in Denever and ten Td's!! I got 2 of the top 3 defenses, the best player in fantasy BY FAR. 2 1300ydplus Wr's and my 3rd and 4th Wr's aint bad at all. Great Tight Ends. IM LOADED!! Takemy exapmple

Sleeper....Oaklands Defense. Kind of crazy cus they were ranked so good last year. But it seems like some people associate their horrible season last year with the D, and skip them over. They were 3rd overall last year and 1st against the pass. Not to mention, they could be better this year.
-
the raider defensive line IMO is the best in football

the raider defensive line IMO is the best in football
Gerald Warren and Warren Sapp at tackles, if Warren makes the team which he should and should get the start later in the season, and Derrick Burgess and Tommy Kelly at ends... goddamn that's a d-line. Terdell Sands is a great starter well Warren gets use to the system.
But why sleep in the Raiders, one aspect of scoring is how many points allowed, and since the Offense sucks ass the D will be on a short field all the time, and allow a ton of points. That will hurt them.

1. OAK already had a very good defense and they should continue to be solid, especially pass defense.
2. The OL had talent but was horrible last year with all the 7 step drops and that ridiculous '70s style offense. Now, they're running a real offense which gets rid of the ball faster and gives the OL more help.
3. Also on the OL, they moved Robert Gallery from LT to OG and Barry Sims has taken over at LT which is an upgrade there. At C, they've brought in a now-healthy Jeremy Newberry to push Jake Grove.
4. Lamont Jordan is running like a man possessed this year and he has trimmed down a bit. A lot of people like him as a sleeper RB getting drafted in the 5th or later who could sneak into the top 10.
5. The coaching staff is vastly improved (couldn't get any worse). Yes, I know the HC is VERY young.
6. QB - McCown might actually start the season but Culpepper will play sooner rather than later (maybe they need him to learn more of the playbook) and when he does play, he'll look more like his old self then the shell of himself he has been the last couple of years.
Add all that up and you've got great sleeper potential all over the OAK team.
-
If the Raiders played in the NFC i would call them last years Saints. I think a 7-9 record in the AFC isn't a far fetched possibility
-
If the Raiders played in the NFC i would call them last years Saints. I think a 7-9 record in the AFC isn't a far fetched possibility
dogg, I'm a huge Raider fan, I mean, I have everything Raiders, check my MySpace and I got the trophies up and everything, but I know one thing, the O has a ways to go. I'm more looking to improve as oppose to making the playoffs. By years end I'm trying to have Culpepper resigned for at least another year unless Russell is fully ready to go, I hope this hold out doesn't hurt him too much. Now to your points.
1. The D is good, the DBs are young, talented and are ready to bang recievers back there. LBs are tough, and explosive, and the DL is just crazy good. But fact is they will be on short fields all year, and that increases points scored against. Also, last year the Raiders had the number 1 D against the pass but that's because no one passed against them when they are leading by 20 points. The Raiders were 26th against the run, and it will be hard to defend the run when your D is always out there because your O can't stay on the field to score.
2. The OL sucks, period. It was not the scheme, Turner couldn't get them to block, Callahan couldn't get them to block from the moment Super Bowl XXXVII kicked off and Gruden scared them into blocking. Robert Gallery is a flop, and should be traded for some draft picks in hope to get some better linemen.
3. Hopefully those moves will work.
4. Jordan is a beast, and his best years are about to come, but if they don't, watch out when Rhodes comesback.
5. A young HC is not a bad thing when your future QB is only 22. If Al stays with this group, this coaching staff could win titles in 5 years.
6. McCown is starting until Culpepper is fully ready, and both are only holding the reigns until Russell gets there.
In 2 years, I'd say sleeper team, right now, no.
-
im looking for the o-line to make major improvements and our running game to be great. not too excited about mcnown starting but daunte hasnt fully adjusted to the playbook. im willing to give the O the benefit of the doubt hopefully im right.
-
I think im going to love my team. 8)
-
I was so worried about my recievers, until Moss yesterday. Palmer, Gore, Benson (who had an off day), Moss, Hindes Ward, Dallas Clark, and the underrated Chargers D, I'm ready... and I think this team will do well as long as I never bench Moss again... lol. Cost me 16 points thinking he was still injured. Him, Ward and Randle El should be a good enough WR team to let Palmer, Gore and Benson take me to the title. Can I finish first 3 years in a row, and win my 2nd title in 3 years... we shall see.
-
the draft me and my buddies had lasted close to 8 fuckin hours
Travis Henry = Rushing leader this year
