Title: Ice Cube & Cypress Hill BEEF????
Post by: Skeptic on August 27, 2007, 07:18:08 PM
I was just listening to stoned raiders, & in that track where b-real goes over cypress hill's career he talks about how the beefed wit cube over shit nobody knew.

I was just wondering if they have spoken on what the beef was about, & if anyone knows?

it spawned some great diss tracks tho haha

holla

It's funny how many times this beef pops up in a thread. I remember around the time of the beef I really did not think it garnered that much interest but I guess I was wrong.  ;D

Basically Cypress had a song they thought would be good for Cube on the Friday soundtrack. Cube declined it, no diss or nothing but he liked the Throw Your Set In The Air song. Muggs and B-Real said that song was for TOB. Not uncommon as Cube also liked Lick A Shot and Cock The Hammer from Black Sunday and ended up Cypress used it. Cube did the Friday song and the hook was similar to Throw Your Set. B also said supposedly Cube used some music similar to his on Kausion's album as well and they took offense to this and dissed Cube.

yup, pretty much.......if anyone needs further detail from the artists involved, go rent or buy the beef II dvd........theres a good 15 minutes dedicated to explaining the whole thing, from the mouths of the artists involved

Which reminds me, how dope would it be to hear Ice Cube back rapping again over some DJ Muggs beats?  :o

Give Cube some of that gothic, hard hitting beats he had back in the day. That was a lethal combo.

This beef was almost a side though in an era when Biggie and 'Pac were beefing. Most fans where I was at in the I.E. casually sided with Cube, but still bought Cypress Hill. They made peace, and fans were like... cool, that's over with. LOL. It was later that I remember people hearing the Shaq track in which Cube mentioned the beef on a track that also featured B-Real, and some were like... wait a minute... they had beef. Of course on our football team, we knew because that Bow Down album played 24/7 in our weight room. Our D-Coordinator had a rule about the radio, only 2Pac or Ice Cube allowed. He later allowed DMX... lol.

Yeah but I want and Cube/Muggs collabo again. We have not had one since Muggs was the co-executive producer of The Predator. Other than Cypress and the Soul Assassins, no one really had direct access to Muggs' beats like Cube did. I was a good team they had.

true that man..i'd like to see it as well, but i doubt it'll ever happen...it seems that lench mob have formed a good relationship with certain producers (emile and so on) and that's who they'll mainly be fucking with

Muggs has a unreleased song called 'Who's the Man' with vintage Ice Cube rapping on it, would be great if he ever put that song out.

Yeah..no offense to Mack 10 but it would've been better if Cube did King of the Hill solo, his verses were so cold it could've been No Vaseline 2. Nuthin Cypress said is fuckin with "You say I stole your hook...it must be the whiteboy thinkin all niggaz crooks" or "everybody in the ghetto knows what your doin...1 whiteboy and 2 fuckin Cubans, claimin that your loco but u aint mexican....listen to a note of no vaseline before you flex again"

Oh yeah...both Ice Cube Killa and No Rest for the wicked are mad underrated, imo, they're among the best disses that have ever been put out, they're better than disses lke Takeover, Ether, and Hit Emp up...Breal is such an underrated mc, back in 95-96 he could destroy 99% of the mcs out there...but I still take Cube's verses off King of the Hill, which imo is another underrated diss track.

That is the same thing I tell people. Alot of people are turned off by B-Real's voice and do not listen to the lyrics he be spittin. ICK is mad underrated KOTH is probably a little bit better but Cypress did have some dope disses. Cube and Cypress are my favorite artists so I tried to stay neutral on that one.

If you want to talk about the quality of disstracks in a beef, it doesnt get better than Cube - CH...and I guess you can add Croos Em out and Put a K, although just the last verse was a shot at Cypress. 4 Hard tracks, amazing lyrics, jabs...not the bullshit that people call a "diss" in todays rap game.

Cypress Hill-Cypress Hill was the first tape I ever had, THey were my favorite rappers. So you know it was a big blow BOW DOWN came out, and it was the hardest record out, but had TWO songs on it, (one and a half) dissing Cypress hill... saying B-Real sounds "like he got baby nutts...." That shit hurt.

and WC gets hella respect for staying out of that one. Mack 10 jumped in woofing all kinds, I love FOE LIFE but Mack 10  got put in his place on Ice Cube Killa.

That was also kind of fucked uptaking pictures with the chain that SOLO snatched from Cube LOL...
