Did Interscope sign The Fixxers because of their "snap" sound ???
-
they got pimped for ringtones...

they got pimped for ringtones...
Pretty much...the whole industry has seen their value and you will see alot more deals being offered for a quick buck on songs for ringtones only....

sad it is really...labels signing artists for there catchy single, and then not even pushing there album, which the song is suppose to be for..look at those rockstar guys...they had a HUGE single in party like a rockstar, and years ago, would of had there album sell at least 700,000 with a single that big...but they flopped soooo bad :-\
-
They should purposely get dropped from Interscope and switch their style back to real Quik beats. I don't see why KOCH wouldn't sign them
-
Yea because labels arent really making any money these days off full albums unless they catch on by word of mouth as marketing the records is a massive risk...hit singles DONT mean hit albums any more...we are a throwaway society these days and that relates to music as well :/
Look at all the high profile releases pushed back due to "scares" of success vs marketing...
50 Cent
Kanye
Stat Quo
etc etc...3-5 years ago these wouldn't have been delayed, they wouldve had a buzzing single, labels would have invested early and confidently in marketing and people would have purchased them...today its not the case.
-
^right on, and that is sad...

Doesn't help either when artists don't have any other substance in their album past their most popular single. ***cough*** Shop Boyz ***cough**** :)

lol i agree with that, but no doubt there album could of sold more than like 150,000 :-\

Before you had the singles and other promotional deals ( such as t shirts, tv spots etc) to promote the record.
Nw it seems like its the reverse the album is there so the artist can get deals elsewhere.

The market is messed up. Seems like indie is the way to go these days and sell albums to your core fanbase. Push less units, but make more green for each unit sold.
For new acts though, it's hard to get out there through an indie, 'cause neither the artist or the label has the cash to get the word out efficiently enough.
For somebody like Quik though, I don't see how he could't do like Cube and take his business to his own hands, do the album he has an audience ready for (which obviously isn't the Fixxers' sound, but the original Quik sound) and earn his bread that way.

quik is clearly not nearly as smart as cube is...

yeahCube always knew how to put himself in the right places it seems, that or he has one hel of a manager
-
I guess Ice Cube is a real cat then...he always gets on his feet well.
I wonder if for Quik, pride isn't part of the reason. He may think going indie would be tantamount to admitting he's lost his commercial appeal. Of course, he's long stopped being appealing for the pop audience but he may not acknowledge that. Seeing how he often comes across as rather unhinged, that wouldn't really surprise me.

Quik is a smart dude its just that.. stuff dont realy work out for him on a busness standpoint..
but other than that dude is realy smart i mean Quik is a musical genius.. nobody here doubts quik's musical talent, ofcourse he's an absolute musical genuis, one of the greatest of all time IMO...it's his business savvy that i question...

He was popular in the early 90s and were in the late 00 thats ruffly 15 years. Juts like some of those rappers arent popular anymoe im sure in 2020 the rappers today will still be rapping but wont be relevant just like Quik is.
With that said yeaah dude is a genius and more talented then most

I pretty much knew this little project wasn't gonna work out...

Quik had the skill/talent to make hot records....he needs to let go of AMG and the Fixxers concept and just do Quik. Doesn't matter if he producing himself or others. HE NEEDS TO DO QUIK. This snapping shit is for the young new dudes. Take a page from the UGK book of business..........do what you do best for your core fans; pickup a few remixes to keep your voice and style out there, drop an album and get that core-fan money and the money for those fly-by-night fans that you got from the remixes.
Only issue with that.........whose hot right now that would give Quik a verse or 2 on a hot single???
-
What would be dope would be if the The Fixxers would add a few people to the group.. as Quik and AMG as the lead vocalists.. and rob bacon on the guitar and G-1on the drum programing..
but the chances of that are impossible.. although i would love to hear them all come together on a track..

Speakin' about the Fixxers, I wanna hear "Welcome Me Back", the track sent to the radio with "Can U Werk Wit Dat", that the radios didn't like but I bet it was a classic DJ Quik style, probably one of the last.
PS: Fuck Snap, Crunk, South, etc.

i agree with you UGK kept they're old sound still.
maybe jay-z or t.i. , he's already done stuff with them and they're two of the best sellers.
