just was bumpin this today and there is no doubt in my mind that this is as good as Dogg Food, the production on this by Mike Dean and Daz was very ahead of its time alot of this sounds like its on some rock shit dope as fuck, people will argue that Kurupt was not the Death Row Kurupt on this but he still murders tracks left and right with his delilvery and flow, At Night :o, How Many :o, alot of pussy songs in the middle but damn the production makes up for it, plus the guest appearances are kept to a minimum showed that they could hold down pretty much a whole album without the help of Snoop or many other DPG afilliates Nate, etc.
-
This album is a personal fav of mine the production and mixing is excellent, i def agree its up there with dogg food.
-
How Many= my favorite cut of that. That song is on some ride or die shit. I miss those type songs.

"Never gave a fuck and I don't ever think I will, I'm quick to pull out the glock and pop like pills", the way Kurupt ends that first verse is just gangsta, the beat on there is on some next level shit :o
-
Kurupt's verse on this is one of my favorites from him. Not so much about the lyrics but the emotion he put in the verse:
We never gave a fuck, so what the fuck we gone start?
Snatching arms off, bust and puncture your heart
Don't trip homie, I ain't get 'em yet
I'm a penal system vet, off of cigarettes
A mushroom high, get 'em back now sherm right out the bucket, fuck it
Pull it out and pass it around and boom boom up and down
Never knew such a thing could happen,
Fucking pistol whipping you and g nigga go head up wit me, let's start scrapping
I'm tiny as fuck, never bow down to nann nigga
Beware nigga, all gangstas over here nigga
I'm tired of these ho's, I'm a let you niggas know
The ho you love nigga gotta hell-a-fide blow
Listen Bitch, all you'll ever be is a bitch
All you'll ever be to me is a bitch
Can't help it but I keep my mind right nigga
The poltergeist nigga
Once or twice, twice as nice pulling a heist nigga
Never gave a fuck and I don't ever think I will
I'm quick to pull out the glock and pop like pills

yeah Kurupts delivery and flow were vicious on that one, I actually think he was consistently more dope on this album than Streetz
-

Yeah, not as many quotables, but really for me no long stretches of verses that made no sense or any wack verses I can think of on the whole album. Really seemed like he was more focused on this album.
-
Dogg Food HAD Snoop, Tray Dee, Rage and many other classic DEATH ROW songs, Dillinger and Young Gotti is NOT on the same level as many consider Dogg Food as good as Doggystyle and The Chronic 8)
-
Some of those songs were recorded on Death Row, because some of them are on the Dogg Pound 2002 release which was not a bad album either.
-
dillinger and young gotti is amazing.
my first copy got fucked up, I bought a new one from VIP in LBC and shit was already fucked up, manufacturing error. so i need to buy it a THIRD time, BUT yeah that shit is as good as dogg food.
the first half is day and the last half is night, i love that shit.
from at night on the album is on some night shit and the first half is like a day party record. and yeah, daz and Kurupt are as dope as they'll ever be on that record before they're recent downward slope.

no way not here @ DPGCC

Man Dogg Food and Dillinger and Young Gotti used to be in the same class together, then Dogg Food started making all these 'Yo Momma' jokes about Dillinger and Young Gotti and knocked him over in the sandbox and they had to be separated into different portables. Now Dogg Food is in Mr.Helsmeyers class.
-T
-
its not on dogg foods level....but its a very dope album and prob my second fav dogg pound album
-

My fav. song too, real ryda shit 8)
Dogg Food>Dillinger & Young Gotti
Both classics, but "D&YG" don't even come close to "DF"...

Cha Cha Cha and the joint with Sco and Beans (can't remember the name right now) was my personel favorites on the album. That Cha Cha Cha was on some do a drive by at night shit. The beat bangs like a muhfucka.

Man you guys are going to make me have to put this back in the day
-
Beans verse on Best Run was cold, the only song on the whole album that's a little questionalble is Work Dat Pussy and even that is listenable for me cause the beat thumps like crazy, I agree the production on this album overall might be better than DF maybe not better but at least equal and the second half of the album is nearly flawless, been bumpin this for the last 4,5 days

Ok, yeah it is dope man. I have been a 6-2 fan since 2001 and Duece so a whole album/mixtape is cool.
-
It was a great album but songs like Gitta Strippin and Work Dat Pussy were just lame to me
-
higheyecue does Jessica Alba belong in the same class as Kurupt to you 8)
-

gitta strippin' has dope production and work dat pussy has cool synth and drums. the rap on those songs is ehh though

Work That Pussy will rattle the shit out of a car when put on a good system. Mike Dean and Daz made a great team on beats. Mike added more strings and melodic piano keys and really elevated the bass Daz would already bring to the table. I would love to get a instrumental album of this.
-
One of my favourite albums ever.....so many bangers I dotn think I skip any of the tracks..
-
i think the dillinger n young gotti albums better but they both dope
-
damn yea that album is bingo but dogg food is on the next level. i feel dre on that mofo even if he officialy hasnt produced shit on it. but the mixing is on top. daz and mike dean made a damn good job on d&yg. lyrics n styles re dope too. but if i had to choose one disc fo a trip to a lonely island i would pick the classic dogg food.
-
I think both albums are pretty much have their strong points in Dogg Food you have Kurupt at the top of his game lyricially on a level that you don't have him on any other album, I think Daz really does some of his best work rapping in D & YG and he and Mike Dean brought it to another level musically, I would put them both in the same area as solid west coast classics
-
higheyecue does Jessica Alba belong in the same class as Kurupt to you 8)
they both fell off a little but are still tight
-
D&YG is really the height of DPGRecordz. It had already been almost 5 or 6 years since the first album was dropped and people were wondering what Daz was going to do after he left Death Row. So for me at least, I was surprised they did it indie and the quality of the release because I always thought they were going to sign with another label. On a major this would have went gold easy, alot of songs worthy of singles. But gangsta at the same time.

Nah Daz has had a bunch of other albums since then. At least 3 or 4 more solos, kurupt's solo, 2 compilations, rbx, lil c style, etc. I was saying those 3 are the best from the label.
-
yeah i heard alla daz's stuff, kurupt's latest solo etc. and I'm saying that the only stuff really worth a damn is the 3 albums we've been talking about as far as that label. sometimes my lighthearted cynicism doesn't translate extremely well online but i feel you.

Yeah he has had a few duds on the label. I actually thought the last Kurupt solo was fire. It's Gangsta Advisory now but most def those 3 are the best. I am listening to How Many right now.

Everybody has different tastes but
Same Day Different Shit is what I wish all Kurupt and Daz albums could be like.
Totaly G'd Up production with plenty of Kurupt solo,
very few guests and almost no tracks for the bitches.
On Same Day, Different Shit -Kurupt kept that shit GANSTA!

Paul, I agree
and
Snoopafly-
I see that You like to take shots at Kurupt.
You even started a thread called "Kurupt sucks nowadays" just to try to diss him.
It must really, really bother you that a lot of us like Kurupt.
I've also noticed that most of the people who hate on Kurupt nowadays are usually
just mad because Kurupt is getting more attention and appreciation than their favorite artist. ;)
