Title: Expectation/hopes for hip hop in 2008
Post by: morbidenigma on September 12, 2007, 07:50:17 AM
this year has been a big dissapointment for hip hop. I was hoping a cllasical album from 50 or Kanye cud re-juvenate hip hop commercially but they both were very average. What are ure hopes n expectation next yr for hip hop.

expectations: good Game, snoop n EM album

hopes: Derox n bishops album

I think its a 90 percent chance game, snoop and em will all release albums. Dre n Bishop id say about 20 percent

i really think hip hop needs a classical album in order for hip hop to pull its socks up.

some soulful music ... Blu raps (very good lyrics) and Exile is on the board.. they are from Cali but it's not gangsta music at all ... don't know why nobody talks about it ..

Word about 2007, it was so wack, except for 3,4 albums like Kanye, Cham, 50, Timbo, Common and Buck and even these were really playing it safe.

Im really putting a big expectation on The Reforamtion, gonna be awsome to finally see a "backpacker" on a major label, besides Nas. I hope Snoop, Game, Nas drop in 08 too....

Would like to see The Reformation drop.

Snoop has a good concept for his new shit, that could come out good.

Nas is hoping to drop in the 4th quarter this year, so we might get new Nas sooner than next year. Anyways something to look forward to.

Raekwon said he's gonna figure out how to get Cuban Linx 2 out there by next summer, so that's something to look forward to as well.

If Eminem is to drop King Mathers next year, so be it, but he's gotta drop a quality album this time. I'll check it if it drops, but I wont cop that shit automatically like I did with The Eminem Show and Encore (despite the wack first single for it).

A lot of cats here mentioned Game. Haven't heard anything about him releasing a new record next year, but if it comes out - cool.

Wu should come out this year still.

There's always the not-so-mainstream releases too. There's always good shit on that level, even if the mainstream cats disappoint.

Detox is always mentioned in these threads, so might as well throw that there.

On a side note, peeps always complain what a wack year it's been. There's been a lot of dope ass records this year, you just won't find them on the charts. A lot have been mentioned here already. Cop those, bitches! And I'd like to throw Joell Ortiz - The Brick: Bodega Chronicles on that list of dope releases.

Co-sign to Joell Ortiz. And that new Sick Jacken/Muggs album is crazy also.

Looking forward to new albums from Raekwon, Em, Snoop, Game, hopefully Bishop Lamont and I'm not getting my hopes up for Detox until I hear a single. I heard Stat Quo might get his album released in the 1st quarter of 2008, assuming he doesn't drop 4th quarter coming up.

Perhaps Eminem only worked on only 1 song for Curtis because he was busy putting the final touches on Statlanta. A few magazines have already reviewed it, so...

^^ I was reading an interview from 50 yesterday, he said that both him, Em and Dre were really busy and thats why theres so little input on the project. We know that "Peep Show" was picked out of the Detroit sessions for The Re-Up and now Em is probably doing all he can on putting Stat out and of course Dre is busy with Detox and Reformation.

50 also probably keept some joints for the GUnit album and BISD.
