Title: I got Space Boogie, Yay! (Sorry I'm late)
Post by: Mr_Loc on July 20, 2001, 05:07:03 AM
Got it in the mail today, ive played it thru about 4 times already, I'm pretty impressed. Production especially is really on some other shit, I see what you guys were talking about now, Fred's shit does sound very Dre-ish on here, still knockin tho so I aint complaining.

Lyrically its cool, not up to Kurupt's top standards but far from wack. perhaps a few too many guests tho.

I really like the concept of the album and the whole futuristic vibe going on. i think a lot more people will start doing this type of shit now.

anyway, overall i think its bomb but i liked DPG and Streetz a little more. Oh yea, i got a big fat ZERO bonus tracks  :(

favorite tracks: Gangstas, Cant Go Wrong, On Onsite, Hardest Mufuckas

I wasn't really into "At It Again"... I think that's probably one of the wackest songs on the cd.

BTW, dont you think Tha Streetz had alot more guest appearances than Space Boogie?

"At It Again" is one of Kurupts better lyrical efforts on the album...

Nothin is wacker than It's Over. I thought At It Again was a good track too. I wasn't feelin "Just Don't Give A Fuck".

I thought the album was tight.  Fred Wreck did a good job with the production, wish Quik did a couple more songs cuz "Can't Go Wrong" was the best song on the album.  I also liked "Sunshine", "At it again", "Fuck Da World", "Hardest Motherfuckers", and "Hate on me".  Besides the incredibly wack "It's over now", I was dissappointed with Kurupt putting "On tha Grind" on the album, cuz it wasn't a good track to begin with.  Kinda funny that no one mentions this track was on RAW and Kurupt uses it, but everyone bitches at Suge for using a couple tracks from RAW.  They both had to pay Daz to use the songs, so what's the ifference.

I think you just need to read more of the "Space Boogie" posts... I seen a couple people mention that. I knew that song on "Space Boogie" before I even bought it BECAUSE someone on here mentioned it.

There aint nothin really wrong with that though. C Murder put "Down 4 My Niggaz" on his cd which was also on "No Limit Top Dogg". And Bad Azz used "Wrong Idea" which was on "Tha Last Meal".

That's only ONE song though.... Suge's putting out a Dogg Pound cd which has ALOT of songs that have already been released on other albums.... ALOT, that's what makes it wack.

He shoulda' left off "On the Grind" and put "The Life I live" because all the songs besides "At It agaiN" feature somone...

it's just my opinion about "On da Grind".  The song got old after hearing it over and over on RAW.  They should have used one of the bonus tracks and left "On da grind" off.

Suge is using 3 tracks from RAW, and is paying Daz to use the songs.  Daz is being paid, getting more exposure as a solo artist, and probably gonna sell more albums.  So why is everyone pissed off at Suge?  In the MTV article about Dogg Pound 2002, Big Hutch said they had material for 2 more albums, so maybe they plan on releasing more material  and possibly saving the best material for last.

Yea, It's not like there was no room on the CD...But I think at first he was gunna put all 3 of the bonus tracks, but than Best buy and Warehouse wanted to make a deal with him, and they probably paid him some extra cash...

You could have your opinion... there aint nothin wrong with that. I kind of agree, I wouldn't have put "On Tha Grind" on there either. It's already been released and they could have put another song in it's place.

I'm just sayin that what Suge's doing, and what Kurupt did, are very different. Kurupt rapped on "On Tha Grind" with Daz, I guess he really like that song so he felt he wanted that song on his solo album too. Kurupt probably had to pay Daz to have that song on "Space Boogie"....then again, they're real close so Daz could've just let him have it... who knows.

Suge didnt have anything to do with RAW. He just paid daz to let him get some songs. The reason people have a problem with this is because it looks kinda pathetic.... I mean, Suge has to keep using stuff from his EX inmates (people he dont even like) to sell records.

Either way, Daz gets that same exposure by having "On Tha Grind" on Kurupts album... the only thing is that there's no bad blood in the business deal.

"On Sight" is the best
"I dont give a shit you bitch cause i'm a gangsta foe life" - Kurupt from "on sight"

I mean, Suge has to keep using stuff from his EX inmates (people he dont even like) to sell records.

The reason Suge is using material from ex-inmates is because Death Row tried releasing solo albums without Suge's guidance, and they failed miserably.  Look at the Lady of Rage's album, Daz's 1st album, and Michel'les album.  They got very little promotion, video airplay (except for Daz, which "In California" was played once in a while), and all 3 albums combined for about 1 million albums sold, which was about 1/7 of what All Eyez on Me sold at that point  This is why Miche'le Hung Jury was the last solo non 2pac/Snoop/Dogg Pound album to drop.  He saw how his artists sold and told whoever was running Death Row not to release solo albums unless he's there.  The 2pac/Snoop/DPG albums are a way to make quick money, but at the same time, he had to pay Daz, Kurupt, and Snoop to use those songs.

That's what I'm sayin'.... THAT's why people dont like the way he's putting out old re-used shit. Cuz It aint gettin put out with good spirits... The only reasons he's releasing those tracks is because of money/greed/desperation.... He has no other choice but to rely on his enemies... it looks pathetic really...
