Title: tupac - the ultimate romantic thug persona??
Post by: morbidenigma on October 01, 2007, 02:47:10 PM
pac was able to appeal to the ladies ands show his emotional and caring side in a sincere way. He cud show that side wihout coming across a corny like 50 or Ja, and he didnt make those kind records to get rnb fans.

Opinions?

Because he kept it real with his music for the most part. He showed all his different sides of his personality. So in that he appealed to more people. He was being himself. Good or bad it was out there. 50 and Ja started off making hardcore gangsta shit. Especially 50 so once Ja was not a factor it seemed like to me all this singing on hooks and shit was more of a gimmick or formula that WORKED for Ja.

I Don't Know, I just saw those tracks as an avenue ofr Pac to increase his fan base!
Never really look into it too deeply
Music will get repeatative if it's about the something,so diversifying the subject matter is a must-whether it sounds corny or not.

Never really been a big fan of Pac's female songs, his personal trial-related  tracks are more of a fave for me!

Exactly. He just made music. Other than a few freaky songs and uplifting songs for women, women loved Pac for just being himself. I know some hardcore goth girls that digged pac.

Yeah when he dropped that One More Chance remix it was a wrap. I just think artists today it is just very bland subject matter. Not to say what Pac and Big were talking about back then is so much different then now but they were better storytellers. They could break it down, even the freaky stuff, and be so descriptive about it to women. Artists now it is just "I am going to fuck and be out, pay me". ;D It sounds more forced with more artists now to me. People trying to capitalize off of a formula instead of crafting great songs.

I think it is true that the females will buy the records and are less likely to download them especially in this era but even back then, alot of those multiplatinum sales that Ja and later 50 had are due to that formula but nowadays with very few hip hop albums even getting to platinum its something that artists feel that they absolutely have to do to sell

Yeah that is fucked up too, but I guess it is a sign of the times. For me alot of artists sound forced when it comes to doing tracks outside of their normal style. It's funny because one artist today that seems to have that appeal to both is Plies lately. I have read his interviews and he is just staying in his own lane, staying true to himself.

Exactly. The fellas could always relate to his lyrics. That's the difference with today's music that is popular among girls.
