Title: Bishop Lamont, what if he didnt get signed to Aftermath???
Post by: blunts40sbitches on October 01, 2007, 06:11:00 PM
man I've been listening to Nigger Noize and that American Dream song that recently got leaked and it got me thinking, this dude has alot of potential to truly be a great artist......but, I feel like Aftermath is kind of limiting this potential, it seems like because he is on Aftermath, he is kinda forced to act hard and come out with gangsta songs that doesnt really seem to fit his style IMO, on songs like Toe Tagz and Feel On It, it really seems like his style is being forced, either that or he shouldnt rap like that cuz hes just not that good at that kind of style......

what do you guys think???

If he hadn't signed with Aftermath, he'd just be another (dope) street rapper with no real chance of ever blowing up. If his deal with Dre doesn't work out, he'll be back to that again... It's not like he's gonna end up like Hittman anyway, because Bishop has been able to keep up a buzz while he's been waiting to drop. But if it all works out on Aftermath, he'll be a huge star... And that's a risk worth taking, even if you have to dumb your music down a little bit... I say a little bit, because it seems like he's been able to keep his artistic integrity in a major way compared to other major acts.

ya Aftermath gives him that boost in promotion.....but Im speakin music wise here.....Bishops not just dumbin down, hes actin like somebody hes not, talkin bout totin guns and shootin people up and shit....Same shit happened wit Busta Rhymes, dude used to do fun songs like Wooha and now he doesnt even get down like that anymore, hes tryna be another 50 cent or Game....I just feel like when you're on Aftermath, youre kinda forced to act hard and gangster....and that kinda takes away from the quality of the music sometimes.....

I guess we'll see when/if the album comes out... I'm still confident that there'll be songs like American Dream, First They Love You etc on it...

Unfortunately I don't really see Bishop doing much under Aftermath. He just doesn't seem like the type of artist that would be successful on a label like that, I hope i'm wrong though

A lil bit off topic, but Busta is waaay better now, than before. He used to shout and scream alot back in the days. Can't stand that
