I was watchin "Before you can respond" w/ jayo,kurupt,40 glocc,Y.A. and couple other homies in the video.
Shit was hiiii-larious! Kurupt really released some anger on that video. Jayo just straight clowned em and smashed him lyrically.
"Del Strawberry"
"All that Skeet out your butt"
"Whats next. some heroin up your ass?"
"You a So-So Def bag boy"
LMAO!!
Anyways, what you think of the whole beef at the time? Who was really "at fault" for all the shit. Who "changed"?
From Wikipedia, Daz Page:
In 2002, Daz and his longtime friend Kurupt parted ways when Kurupt signed a deal with Suge Knight to become the Vice President of Death Row Records. Daz, along with Snoop Dogg and other D.P.G. members, did not take the news lightly and decided to cut all ties with Kurupt. For almost three years Daz and Kurupt remained separate, with Daz speaking of the D.P.G. never forgiving him for what they viewed as him turning his back on the gang. It wasn't until April 1, 2005 that Kurupt reached out and sent a message to Daz and Snoop, saying he would no longer talk bad about them and that he hoped things could be resolved. Daz and Snoop and the rest of the D.P.G. accepted to take Kurupt back, and said they planned to start making music again. Tha Dogg Pound was now back together and 7 months later they released "Dillinger & Gotti II: Tha Saga Continuez", as well as working on many upcoming projects such as Terry Choe a.k.a Teezy's new album, "Blue Dreamz" to be released in late 2006. Tha Dogg Pound reuniting made Snoop Dogg call a West Coast Conference. Many rappers from the West Coast attended the meet, many came who were enemies with each other and the mission of the meet was to clear bad blood between people. Many rappers got issues resolved and this was considered a small step to gathering the West Coast in unity.

I am glad the beef is over and Daz N Kurupt and the DPGC are back making music again. That beef was between them and I can't really speak on the past and what happened but I am glad they squashed it.
-
I heard Kurupt was broke and Snoop wasent paying him or trying 2 help so Kurupt had 2 sign with Suge he had child support problems and Suge helped him out. Snoop and the DPGs was dissin Kurupt first. Kurupt even did the I didnt change track.
-
Hey that was Styles in that interview wonder what that scene was like ???

Yeah, from the Album, Originals (2004) with Keita and i forgot the other guy. Loved the album!
-
Hey Stylez, how was it like mang? In the purple room with all of them? I met Kurupt personally before but i was stunned too much to ask him stuff like this. ( I used to Valet park and i got to drive in Gail's PT Cruiser @ a night club "The Bank" in Downtown LA back in Feb or March of 04 for a NBA afterparty event. I was with Kurupt the whole time in his car just chilling it in traffic!) lol
BTW, Anybody got the Daz Iz Dead interview by Jayo Felony? I gotta see that shit.
-
I cant access you tube from the office, is this a song or an interview?
"Before you can respond" w/ jayo,kurupt,40 glocc,Y.A.

That beef hurt. It killed me to see those 2 go at it.

Nah, it was interesting. I think some truth was revealed and opinions were let out from Jayo.
Like, i know what yall saying is tru about them beefing but it shows wassup with one another. Daz should of never opened his mouth. He made himself look dumb. On the real.
But everything cool now! 8)

man kurupt is fucked at the start, jayo looks for real
-
it seems this beef ended the reign of the West Coast...
right when they split, EVERYONE started to be at war with everyone else
when the previous years it was all collaborations and friendships from the Bay to LA
-
Talk about memories.....
I didn't even know we were going to do all of that, that night... We knew that we were going to a studio with Kurupt, Jayo and 40 Glocc out in Riverside, but that was it. Jayo was recording his "Before You Can Respond" diss and it just turned in to a free-for-all with everybody getting on camera and going off.
In my mind I was like, "damn", because I knew that this was the first time that Kurupt was getting stuff off of his chest and saying what he felt at the time.
It was a crazy night, but it wasn't all negative. Elsewhere in the studio I was able to catch up with Kokane who was recording with Fingazz and later we caught up with Lil Rob for two nice peaceful interviews.
I for one am glad it is over though.
-
Daz should of never opened his mouth. He made himself look dumb. On the real.
haha and Kurupt didn't look stupid at all? it really was all Kurupt's fault

It killed me to see those 2 go at it.

Sober? lol
Mofo was high and drunk. But sober wise or on wax i guess you could say, he did make an ass of himself.
-
Everybody was already high as fuck when I get there... and the dro just kept getting passed the whole night...
-
Man that beef even was internet deep. You had certain people riding with Daz on this site and people riding with Kurupt on another site. I will say this, the way Kurupt and Daz handled the beef and squashing it was cool. Kurupt and Daz are all about the future and moving on. They won't even entertain it in a interview (except when Kurupt blew up a couple of months ago on that dubcnn interview). Now Snoop on the other hand is a different story. LOL!
-
While we are on the subject, lets talk about all the Diss tracks from the Kurupt VS DPG War.
I am not trying to spread negativity but when the DPG was at War, I continued to listen to and purchase the music of Artists on both sides of the Issue. I am very happy that the DPG reunited in 2005 but I have to admit that Kurupt put out some Wicked Kick Ass Tracks when he was away from the Homies.
Kurupt did not respond right away to the DPG's Disses.
He did not want to diss the homies but Snoop, Daz, and Soopa kept
pushing it untill Kurupt Young Gotti Could not put up with any more of their Bullshit.
I LOVED "Kurupt Presents the Originals"
It was like "I didn't change" was his first deep response to the homies after all their wack-ass dissing.
A lot of people diss Kurupt's "Eat A dicc (Fuck Daz)" but I always thought it was cool.
It hits hard and tristar drops major heat on this track too.
I Love Kurupt's disses on Bad Azz "...Black Ass Dark Wing Duck Mutha Fucka! Thats why I fucked yo bitch and Daz aint Shit"
Eat a Dicc (Fuck Daz) was a WAY BETTER track than Eat A dicc Ricc(Fuck Kurupt).
I was REALLY disapointed in Daz's Eat A dicc Ricc.
Instead of being gangsta'd up and hardcore it was a lame party beat with a Lame anoying hook.
That is so wack that he had to continualy reference 50 on the weak boring hook.
And Daz goes off on a tangent dissing selectoHits and bunch of other fools that had nothing to do with the Kurupt Beef.
This Wack "Party track" was all over the place.
Eat a Dicc (Fuck Daz) was a WAY BETTER track than Eat A dicc Ricc(Fuck Kurupt).
Heres a brief list of War shit off the top of my head:
KURUPT/Death Row/Pentagon/YA/RifleMen
Kurupt -I didn't Change - (not really a diss track but to me it was an instant Classic)
Kurupt -Eat A dicc (Fuck Daz) (a lot of people hate this track but I thought it was cool)
Kurupt -No Vaseline 2 (Banger)
Kurupt - One thangs Fo Sho (Tight Shit)
Kurupt -Who we talkin Bout/No time for Busters (Diss on Daz/Snoop set to the Drop It like its Hot Beat)(tight!)
Kurupt, Eastwood, Young Ron, Gail Gotti -Holocaust 3000
"Before I say another word, Muther Fuck Snoop! Dogg House,Eat a Big Dogg Pound Dick, this is Gotti -You aint gonna Pimp Slap Shit!"
Kurupt w/yukmouth, Roscoe -Do My Thang
Rifelmen -(Cock Back the)Rifelz
Rifelmen - I cant remember the name but Kurupt Says "a snitch is a snitch, I cant help it if Daz is a bitch"
Jayo Felony -Daz is Dead
40 Glocc -Whats Beef
40 Glocc -Sock Daz in the Jaw
Tristar, Tone , Kurupt -Fuck DPG(OZ Behind the Walls Remix)
Kurupt, Tristar, Tone -Pentagon Rydaz
(Kurupt says that snoop has the balls of snail and the heart of a perrott)
Kurupt -Ride On the Creamation
DAZ/Snoop/DPG/Soopafly/Bad Azz
Daz with Bad Azz -U ain't Shit
DAZ -Eat a Dicc Ricc (Fuck Kurupt) (this track was too much like a Party track, Kinda Boring )
DAZ - (in tha Club Remix)
DAZ - U a bitch ass Nigga to me(Fuck 40 Glocc)
DAZ -Pistlewhip (Fuck rifelmen)
Snoop -Pimp Slapped
Snoop -Pimp Slapped 2 (from Chuuch Tapes Vol 1)
Snoop with Bad Azz -All I want (from Chuuch Tapes Vol 1)
Snoop -Squeeze play (from doggystyle allstars) , Snoop Disses Kurupt
Soopafly -Talkin Bout Riccy
Bad Azz - My Life (Talkin Bout U)- (A suge and Kurupt Diss)
I left out a few on each side because the rest just have subtle or brief Disses like "Dont Give a Fuck about talk from Daz", etc.
Personally I still liked all the artists when the War was going on but I was partial to Kurupt.
Many people bash his style during these years But i think he was a Vicious ANIMAL on the MIC.
With the Final Addition to the Discography of No Vaseline 2,
I personaly believe Kurupt had the superior output during the War.
In the 3 + years he was away from the homies he Really GREW as an artist.
He was the Commander In Chief with his squad while it seemed like everyone on the DPG side just followed along with Snoop's agenda of Hating on Death Row.
All of the above mentioned tracks are cool but my favorites from the list are:
Kurupt -I didn't Change
Kurupt -No Vaseline 2
Tristar, Tone , Kurupt -Fuck DPG(OZ Behind the Walls Remix)
Bad Azz w/Konflict- My Life (Talkin Bout U)
Daz and Bad Azz -U aint Shit
Are There any other Major Diss tracks I missed from this classic era??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???
-
How did Snoop have a agenda of hating on Death Row?
-
The memories. Dpg forum was the funniest forum with daz and his one liners, ha ha ha. I was a shame when all that was going but at the same time it was the best comedy on the internet forumz. Daz was a clown man.
Ya'll remember classic threads from daz back in the days?
Daz: Boo-Ya Tribe Ofa! Ofa!!
;D
-
I didn't know some of you went back that far... I have a pretty good memory of people too...
-
How did Snoop have a agenda of hating on Death Row?
In the years leading up to the beef (and during), Snoop was dissing Death Row major.
(Example:"Death Row is Bitches")
Obviously he had good reason: Suge, Dead Man Walking, DR dissing him, etc.
Kurupt wanted to get paid by Suge but still stay down with DPG.
(Suge knew this when he signed Kurupt)
Snoop and Daz automatically branded Kurupt a TRAITOR just for doing business with Suge.
Snoop and Daz then started dissing Kurupt.
(Exactly what Suge expected and WANTED to happen and DAZ and Snoop played their roles perfectly)
After the disses, Kurupt Opened Fire on the "Former Homies"
Wow, Suge's plan to fuck up the homies worked perfectly.
In reality , I understand that DPG had good reason to be mad at Kurupt
but when all that shit was going down I was at a point in my life
when I was starting to realize how Lame and Fake many of my long time friends were.
They were just dragging me down with their negativity and immaturity.
I was building a carreer, a family, and a future while "the homies" were still acting like punk kids.
I had no more time for Busters.
So I was able to relate to Kurupt's situation and emotions at the time.
-
I always felt that the Death Row beef with DPGC became more personal when Kurupt went back. Yeah Snoop was mad Suge was putting old albums out on him and Daz was mad about the money not being paid and the countless other artists, but once DR dropped that shit that Gotti was coming back, all hell broke loose.

I see what you are saying. I think out of all people that Kurupt went to for assistance, it hurt them more it was Suge that would help him. Instead of recognizing his financial, they were mad at his new business partner. In at least Daz's defense, he was showing Gotti the indie game and how to make his own money. I remember in the booklet for Who Ride With Us Daz was advertising back then about Kurupt's label and YA coming out.

HELL FUCKING YEAH! I was on Kurupts side at the time. "Started my own gang? Did that in '92 cuz, u remember when i made it what it was" "You need to stop rapping and listen to All Eyez on me, so you can practice who you used to be". Y.A. was presented which was the hardest youngins in the same and STILL SHOULD BE! (Y.A, where u at?)... Cali Untouchables Pt5 and War Vol1 and Palm Trees and Gangstas was sick and still is!!!
I do agree with the fellow GMRec.! Kurupt was just trying to eat. And to get Vice Pres. is a pretty good position. Shit, gotta eat. He kept it hood just like the others did. I would agree Pentagon was a much stronger camp than Daz's...
And i do agree also with Kurupt situation. It was a test as i see it. So who the real ones are. Like the "Final Testimony" song says. But em, getting back to internet gangbangin and listing people ur gonna kill over the net ::)
lol (jess playing Daz)

I never picked sides, but I could relate to Kurupt's financial situation and he was QUIET a long time not dissing them. I always liked in interviews how Kurupt even before the beef ALWAYS gave love to the homies. He would hype up someone else's shit more than his. And even after the beef he stayed like that. Just like the track he did not change. Maybe could pick a better business partner, but ya can't get mad at him getting that paper. Hopefully from now on if something like that comes up, they make bread as a CREW.

I agree.
It was a huge move by Suge to aquire one of Snoop's best long time homies.
Things really heated up at that point.

Exactly,
When "No Vaseline 2" was set to be released Kurupt told us to boycot the CD and not to support that negativity.
(Disses on Snoop, Daz, Soopafly)
Meanwhile, DAZ was releasing "DPG Eulogy" on IN DEMAND pay per view and promoting it on DPGRecordz.com.
(Many Disses on Kurupt)
Kurupt is a TRUE HOMIE! 8)
