Title: WCW appreciation thread
Post by: UKnowWhatItIs: welcome to my traps....game over on October 02, 2007, 12:49:31 PM
It's been like 6 years since the company collapsed (it actually seems like it's been dead since forever lol). Anyways I've been watching lots of WCW videos lately & damn I miss that federation. I remember when I was a kid & a huge WWF fan & whenever I'd see WCW I was kinda jealous cause I knew deep down in my heart that WCW was actually better than WWF lol. Eric Bischoff made history & I guess we all know that if it wasn't for him & his smart thinking WWF wouldn't be as big as it is today. Hell, we wouldn't even get the Attitude era. WCW was setting the trends, calling the shots or whatever you wanna call it. WCW was just dominating & Nitro was just electryfying. The whole feeling & atmosphere of that show was just crazy. The whole arena & ring & the entrance for the wrestlers, basically everything just looked so much better than RAW. Even their titantron couldn't save it (imo). It's sad how everyone in the end just turned their backs on WCW but I guess it's the company's own fault. I mean they made a couple of serious mistakes & paid the price. Below is the main theme for WCW Nitro & the DVD documentary "The Monday Night War". It's a great movie & a must see if you're a wrestling fan, enjoy.

Intro
Schiavone hypes this up as the greatest PPV ever.
Curtain jerk match of two cruiserweights, pretty good match though Heenan and Schiavone constantly talk about the NWO
Tag team match
Another cruisermatch
TV Title match
US Title match
Main event with someone against the NWO, the WCW guy wins by DQ thanks to the entire NWO running in, Macho Man gets chokeslammed by the Giant
The End.

I would honestly rather watch old episodes of nitro rather than RAW.

WCW was cool man, but i'm off of that...now that i think about it...it was boring....the nwo and goldberg saved that company...u should watch the old ECW! that changed my thoughts on wcw drastically! check out the crowds there! that was a real crowd!

WCW was nice, but it didn't really compare to the WWF...Maybe in its peak, but still, the WWF was handling it, always.

In those almost 2 years when WCW was on top, it destroyed WWF in every possible way. As time went on, they became more and more unorganized and just crumbled.

I still enjoyed WWF more in every era.

They always had the best cruiserweight division. Thats the only part of WCW i miss. I would've rather watched the Undertaker, Stone Cold, The Rock, and Mankind over NWO any day.

I always wondered why they did not use the Television Title once the buyout happened. I remember the champion had a match every time Nitro once on and it was for the title if I remember right. I think Disco Inferno had the title the longest. They should have it for ECW or one of the other brands.

Nah I liked the whole WCW roster way more than the WWF one & the guys you mentioned were almost the only superstars that Vince had. What, you can add like Kane & Shawn Michaels & that's about it.

One thing I miss is the run ins and cliffhanger endings of Nitro.  I always wondered did the NWO or whoever was outside the ring get back in to fight after they went off of the air.  And run ins were always something i was a fan of and they don't have them much in the WWE

Come on, WCW was WWF's old wrestlers. Why would I want to watch NwO, who was basically:

Hogan
Scott Hall
KEvin Nash
Lex Luger
Macho Man
Bret Hart ...

... when I have seen them all before. WWF back then was the shit. Thats when storylines and characters mattered.

competition from WCW ushered in the Attitude era...even WWF die-hards should appreciate that...cus the time WWF was at its best WCW was still on the air

Well I highly doubt any WCW fan here can actually make you change your mind about WCW/NWO just like that & let's be real, did you really have any intentions in listening to us & our opinions just like you claimed you wanted to do??? It's a appreciation thread, lets keep it that way.

I never was a fan of WCW and I always thought that they were inferior compared to the WWF. To me it seemed as if it was a company that never had any real direction.

When the NWO days came around though it drastically changed. They came up with the storyline of a lifetime and delivered as much as they could. Sure, the split in NWO black n white and Wolfpack was somehow inevitable but they milked it as long as they could and business went up so they did everything right. To me, someone who grew up watching Hogan, Macho, Beefcake, Warrior, Martel, Bossman, Rude, DiBiase etc... it was great to see them come to WCW. During those days you just had to watch Nitro because every single week there happened something. They introduced new members every single week. Then they managed to get the Warrior which was also quite impressive. The days when Sting turned all Crow-like were great too cause they knew how to present it. They always filmed the rafters to see where he was and if he would interfere in a match etc... So they knew what they did back then and that made their show actually a must see. Even if it wasn´t for all too long.

Yeah that's like talking about Tha Eastsidaz in a 50 Cent thread, it's off-topic. Everything was starting to get good until you put this post up. Geez, get over it.

^^That was a terrible analogy. It's more like someone making a thread about how great 50 Cent is, and then someone comes in to the thread to disagree and state his points as to why 50 Cent isn't really that great. That's called a discussion...Get with the message board system, bro...PeACe

WCW from 96 to 98 was clearly better than WWF on all fronts. The angles were better, the matches were better, the wrestler were more over, the company drew more money. Creatively speaking that was the only time "WCW". In the 80s WWF drew more money because it was a kid's product but anyone that thinks you can even compare Hogan/Warrior to Flair/Steamboat in any way shape or form as far as the art and skill is concerned is a retard who knows nothing about pro wrestling. Somebody watch Flair vs Garvin or Flair vs Morton from 1986 and compare it to Hogan vs Bundy. The 80s NWA was a wrestling fan's promotion. The 80s WWF was a circus fan's promotion. Then Jim Herd came in and fucked it all up. In the early 90s both promotions sucked and after 98 WWF too it to a new level.
