Lil Wayne is a madman. He's unhinged. He's hilarious. Passionate. Downright mean.
During my time with him in Miami for The Art of Storytelling (November '07), I knew that Wayne would be difficult to capture. Many of the deepest, darkest stories he shared cannot be translated onto the pages of a magazine. But he gave so much, there's still plenty left to report. We may never fully understand the mind of the most prolific rapper this year - but we can go as deep as he'll let us.
So here I am with the president of Cash Money/Young Money.
I just want everybody to know I am no longer the president of nothing. I gave Cortez Bryant the presidency of Young Money Records and I stepped down from any other positions... I am the president of me. I am me! I run nobody, I live in a different world with different laws.
Who else is in this world?
Only presidents. Me, Franklin, Reagan...
You must have the most unique voice in that world.
Some people can't sing and can just use their voice very uniquely. I was watching these clips on E! of the worst people singing the National Anthem and - what's the dudes name from that rock group - the nigga with the big lips?

Everybody who know me know you come around Wayne, you better not be trying to hear the latest hits from somebody's album. 'Cause when you listen to another niggas music you can get in that zone. Like I done listened to Hov and I didn't wanna do nothing but get shot everyday, I didn't wanna go to the studio. Hov wasn't rapping about going to the studio. I stopped listening after The Black Album. I stopped listening to other people's music.

Speaking of stress, let's talk about the incident when the cops pulled you over after your show on July 22, 2007, at the Beacon Theater in New York.
When they locked me up in New York and they asked me about Jay-Z, 50 Cent, G Unit and no fucking gun or weed like they made it look like on TV? Ask me what I told them - Nigga, I'm from New Orleans! I will murder ya'll up in this bitch! Fuck that, why would I murder a rapper?! I'm gonna listen to his shit on the way to go murder another nigga!
So the hip hop cops took you in supposedly over guns and weed but ended up just interrogating you to get info about other rappers?
They ain't ask me a damn thing about no gun or no weed. That could have been the gun that shot Kennedy, they didn't give a fuck! It's so wrong how the cops stay steadily profiling rappers, trying to figure out some fake industry beef.

I signed my contract at 11, I put out my first solo album at 15 and I'm 25 and I've been living in that ever since. I haven't sold a brick. I haven't had to see one unless I wanted to snort it!
So what are you about to do now, after the interview?
Yo, I forgot what we was doing! I forgot we was gonna go in the studio, Elz said he was gonna come through [Juelz Santana]. I dunno if he's on his way.
Any parting words?
I'm glad that this whole interview was about what it was about and it wasn't about my album or whose song I'm on because that makes it so important. That makes it so important.

i will admit this, i havent heard any of his Carter albums, or his Drought mixtapes but any song i hear him on (Juelz' album, Barry Bonds etc) has just been pretty damn poor. does no one else think he has a very annoying voice?
