Title: Daz New Album... (Review) Share Opinions Y'all (In-Depth)
Post by: Lunatic on October 09, 2007, 05:51:55 PM
Y'all are crazy for hating sooo much on this, it ain't half-bad AT ALL :-\

won't really judge "lyrics" besides guests, cuz it's pretty much same thing on every song with daz LOL (i don't have a big problem with that)

About That - 3/5...beat is cool & so is the hook

gangsta shit - 2.75/5...beat is alright & hook is a bit repetitive

gettin money - 4.5/5..beat is 2 fresh, and the hook is great..sounds like a old school track...kurupt murdered this shit, 2 bad his part is short

that's deep - 4/5..the beat is damn good, nice 2 see daz doin a meaningful track...could of and should of been longer though

is this what u want - 4.5/5...the beat is amazing, and the hook is great..redman wrecked this as well

caught up in tha game - 4.5/5 jagged edge did a fantastic job on the hook, great beat as well...budden came correct

get ya pistol - 3.5/5...beat is soooo sick, and love the hook

gangsta party pt 2 - 3/5..beat is alright, so is hook...song sounds MAD stolen though, guess that's the point though..don't work for me

gunz will blow - 3.75/5 beat is pretty good...hook is alright..yukmouth was good

tell me what u want - 2/5..beat doesn't work for me at all, same goes for the hook...more of a pop record

do what the fuck i wanna - 4/5 beat is alright...hook is meh, jayo felony came tight as fuck though, made the track what it is

start a problem - 5/5..beat is soooo SICK :o  Roscoe fucking killed this shit :o :o  best verse on the whole album...hook is good..Spice 1 was sick as fuck as well

all about da money - 4/5..pretty good beat, hook is great for the most part..keak da sneak was cool, and i don't usually like him..fa.b. was good as well

top 3 tracks:

start a problem
gettin money
caught up in the game

thats deep, do what the fuck i wanna, all about da money & is this u want just miss that list for me

production was top notch for the most part :-\

props on the review Luna, I'm on my second listen right now so can't give an indepth opinion right now but I agree about the Kurupt and 40 track is hot, and Jayo killed his verse much better than his Dogg Chit verse I thought and the Budden track that's been floating around for a while is tight as well

That was a half assed Gangsta Party 2, he shoulda put wayyy more effort into if he really wanted to do a part 2, for that kinda song. Its like coming out with Aint Nuthin But A G Thang 2, u gotta aim to make it hotter then the original which is most likely not gonna happen, but u still gotta take ur time with it n shit, GP Part 2 felt really wack and cheap!!!

I like the track with Roscoe on it....  Yukmouth had a dope verse on his track too

the only problem I have with these Daz projects is they always have a cheap sounding production to them

I know he's not gonna spend a lot of money making these things but it just always feels like there's something missing from the beats...

The problem with trying 2 literally re-make a classic song for a pt 2, is the fans' expectations are clearly gonna be high...99% of the time it's gonna be a disappointment

Like the saying goes, sometimes you get what you pay for. If it is cheap sounding, blame it on the producer. I'm sure they worked out a deal to where Daz provides the rhymes and Silva provides the beats. I liked it one because he worked with ALOT of people he was either beefing with or had not worked with in a long time. Kind of reminds me of his 1st album but just not with him doing the beats. These types of albums are becoming more and more popular, with artists out west in particular. Look at how many Big Hollis and Sac did last year with Spice 1 and Eiht, bizzy Bone, Outlawz, etc. It can be a cool change of pace.

i like the album... J Silva did Thug Lordz Trilogy also which i liked.. as for the Gangsta Party 2 the beat doesnt sound jacked at all.. i like how this is a mostly westcoast album, the features, the beats.. Daz even shouts out more than just LA or Long Beach and involves the whole West shoutin out places like Seattle and Tacoma and features from Bay, Seattle, and Dago

and about havin a nuthin but a g thang 2 check out The Wash they did a good job at re-doin it

Hey I'm new to the forum, and since Daz is my favorite rapper, I have to show him some love for his latest release. Actually, Daz commented on my myspace last year haha, when I actually had a myspace, so just wanted to let ya'll know that Daz really cares about his fans unlike most other rappers. This album is pure fire. Daz returns to his old flow and the beats are on point here. This is the type of album u have to listen to maybe 2 or 3 times before actually appreciating it. The first song, About That, really sounds like it has a little east coast flavor on it, and Daz really takes command of this song. Gangsta Shit samples Snoop's song That's That Shit. Daz rips this track, and it's very catchy. Gettin' Money is a decent song, however, seems a little outdated. Both Kurupt and E-40's verses are a little short, and it seems like Daz steals a little bit of the sportlight, but since this is the only song with Kurupt, I woulda liked a little more from the Kingpin. That's Deep has a very good beat and Daz hasn't written a song this deep, so it makes ya think. Got What U Want really grows on me quickly. The beat is really missing something. It doesn't sound like Daz or Redman would even be on this if u just heard the instrumental (still a decent song though). Caught Up In The Game is prolly one of the best songs on here. They really should've done a video to this. Joe Budden being on this track kinda surprised me. Seems like he hasn't been around in years. Get Ya Pistol sounds like it coulda been on So So Gangsta. Very catchy and this is the Daz we have all come to know. Gangsta Party 2 coulda been much better. Daz coulda gotten more creative with this track. Hussein Fatal has a really nice flow. I haven't heard this dude in years. He should really release and album, imo. Young Noble comes aggressive as usual. Guns Wil Blow has a catchy chorus. Daz and Yukmouth should really do more songs together. Tell Me What U Want is a nice laid back track. San Quinn has some clever rhymes on this and Daz sounds like he's actually really into this poppy song. Spice also comes nice. Do What I Wanna is my favorite song on this album. It has a rock beat mixed with a beat Daz usually uses, with a little southern flavor. Jayo really makes this song what it is like one of u mentioned before. Start a Problem is catchy, and Roscoe is on point. He's really maturing as an artist. Spice 1 fits in very good on this song. It's nice to see an OG working with a young gun. Good song overall. All About Da Money is a great song to end the album. I've really never liked Keak's flow, but in this song, he brings some game to it. Daz has the catchy chorus going on once again. Mistah FAB has the last verse and is on point as well. Overall, I'd give this album a solid 3.5/5. Daz puts out many projects and it's hard to have all good albums with everything u want. When u feel like listening to something new, Daz is already out with a new album. This actually reminds me of when 2Pac wanted to do that One Nation album. He wanted to bring ppl from the East and West and really get something going. Daz brings a lot of ppl from all parts of Cali, but the main thing is that Daz shows leadership on this album, and this makes me have really high hopes for his albums in the future.

start a problem is the best track on the album imo, scodie killed it, the way switched up his flow :o

Roscoe had the best verse but Kurupt was still talking nonsense Young Gotti magilla gorilla seems like he just is putting words together that don't make any sense :-\

I thought Kurupt had a good verse on that song.
