NEW YORK -- The n-word it is.
On Friday night at New York's Roseland Ballroom, Nas announced the title of his next album: He said it will be called Nigga and released in December. A source close to the project confirmed the name today.
Nas has said he'd planned to use that title for his last LP before he changed it to Hip-Hop Is Dead. If the December date holds firm, Nas will have a very busy winter. On November 6 he's releasing his Greatest Hits LP. A video for one of the two new songs on the project, "Surviving the Times" will be shot soon. Last week, super producer Jermaine Dupri -- who has already completed tracks for Jay-Z's American Gangster -- told MTV News he would love to be involved in Nas' upcoming new LP.
Nas headlined the last stop of the Sneaker Pimps Tour on Friday where newcomers such as Mista Mal as well as legends EPMD and Slick Rick had sets. Even Jeru Da Damaja showed up and rocked the mic.
Nas kept the crowd antsy by not going on until well after 1 a.m., but they left visibly -- and audibly -- pleased.
He opened with "Hip-Hop is Dead" then went into his catalog for records such as "One Love" and "Hate Me Now." God's Son ended with "Made You Look," during which he surprised the fans by jumping into the crowd. Once among the people, he began jumping up and down and inciting the people to jump with him. One of Nas' security guards dove into the audience after him, pulling him back to the stage, where he stood none the worse for wear.
"He touched my hand and gave me positive energy," one woman said as the house lights came on.
Besides phat rhymes, spectators saw some of the most exclusive kicks you can hope to get, as sneakers from all over the world were displayed. There was also a pit for professional skaters who sailed up and down ramps. Still, most of the skaters had to put their boards down when the acts came on, especially Nas.

Thats cool but December? thats kind of short notice. I hope it doesn't sound rushed. We'll see where JD goes on the production if that happens.

I bet every dollar in my bank account it won't be released as that title. If anything it'll be changed to "The N Word" and he'll play it off on tv that the N word is Nas.
Just like I said Young Buck's cd wouldn't be called "Fuck the World" and Game's debut wouldn't be called "Nigga Witta Attitude".

Im sick of all these fucking nigga orientated names and concepts in hiphop, 'Nigga Noize', 'Nigga Wit An Attitude', now simply 'Nigga'. The bullshit continues. Get the fuck out of here! Hip-hop is bigger than black people.

Nas is a grown man so be it far from me to tell him what to do but he should at least have enough respect for other peoples feelings and opinions to not do something like that. It's like he's doing it on purpose. I do agree that the title shouldn't really matter but if that was the case he probably shouldn't have done it

But you're right, the content of the album is what really matters. Maybe there is a point to NaS choosing that title I just don't see it yet, except I think that black people can make too much of a big deal over being black.

although it may be a controversial title i think he would be addressing the word in today's hip hop and use that theme for the album just like he used hip hop is dead so i think if it is at all possible he will keep it but if not then the n or something like it

Its a good but silly title for an album. Ok black people have had to endure the 'nigger' term for many years now and they have done well by reversing it, but by calling each other nigger it still teaches us that it is ok it todays community. If you can say it, fuck you, so can I. I will go into my record store and scream, Have you got that nigga in?
Lets see how many people are laughing when I scream that hey. No, they will cry and moan and call me a racist, when all I am doing is asking whether the new Nas album is in.
