SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- A future Super Bowl champion may someday be crowned overseas in a game witnessed predominantly by a foreign audience, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said.
"There's a great deal of interest in holding a Super Bowl in London," Goodell told reporters Monday. "So we'll be looking at that."
The commissioner said London's new Wembley Stadium would make a great candidate for pro football's biggest matchup, given the enthusiasm overseas for the game.
The NFL has been expanding its overseas presence for years by televising games around the world. It's held preseason games in numerous countries in Europe, Asia, Mexico and Canada, and in 2005, the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers played the first regular-season match outside the United States.
The game at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City drew the league's largest crowd to date, 103,467.
On Oct. 28, Wembley will host the first regular-season NFL game outside North America. It took just 90 minutes to sell the first 40,000 tickets for the game between the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants. Goodell said event organizers have sold 95,000 tickets in all.
Goodell spoke about the possibility of a British Super Bowl after a luncheon Monday in Scottsdale sponsored by the host committee for the 2008 Super Bowl in Arizona.

gay, i don't want the superbowl over there.
-
^^^yea...imagine if Green Bay and Oakland make the superbowl that year! London would never want the super bowl agian after those fans arrive
-
London is like 6 hours ahead. That would it would be an early game here in the states or a very late start in London. We'll either be watching it at 1 PM or the live fans will have have to stay up until 3 AM to see the ending.
-
yeah fuck that. it'll ruin any future superbowl parties i may or may not want to throw.
-
I like the idea
-
fuck England and New England
-
dumbass idea
they got their euro league
-
Those Brits will probably be happy as fuck, until they realize it's not the right football... then they'll start bitching.

exactly
most them people dont even watch NFL
and it would be a pain in the ass for americans who actually wanna go watch it, the would have to buy a Ticket to the game, plane ticket, hotel and be out longer then they need to
this is a fuckin retarded ass idea, i think they should just have preseason games out of the country
regular season, playoff, and super bowl need to stay in the states.
-
^^Seriously...This might be the first and last time I say this, but they need to take some notes from the NBA. :-X

fuck England and New England

LOL. the darts comment was priceless....
-
they shouldnt do it.
Why should the fans of teams travel half way round the world to see there team play in a match that should be held in the country they live in.
-
LOL. This will never happen. Yes they play preseason games aboard and 2 years ago they had a regular season game outside of the country (Mexico), but that was by 2 shitty teams that weren't expected to make the playoffs (Cardinals and 49ers). This is the God damn SUPER BOWL. A side from the fact that Europeans don't care that much for football, you have to please the fans. I don't think they'd like it if the biggest game in American sports to be played half way across the globe in a country that doesn't even fallow American Football (further more the NFL).
fuck England and New England

That's because the stadium has a 115,500 seating capacity. That's more then double some NFL stadiums. The largest stadium in the NFL (FedExField) holds 91,704, while the smallest (the RCA Dome) only holds 57,980.

excuse me NIK, but us Brits are not as stupid as Americans so we wouldnt make that mistake...

Come on. Your minimilistic views are very self centered. You surely want your sport to expand and become better understood and watched throughout the world, therefore having an event such as the Super Bowl over here will only enhance American Football on foreign grounds. Many of your fans would come over here and enjoy the drinking age aswell. You would have a ball in London and many British fans would watch and goto the game aswell.
Ok so you will have to stay up late to watch the Super Bowl for a change, so what. I actually think watching things like that in the evening make it more exciting.

Every person in England and Britian will always call football football anyway. It is recognised as soccer everywhere else so who cares. I for one would love to see the Super Bowl here.

I meant they were shitty teams 2 years ago, Mr. Sensitive. If you'll remember they had a combined record of 9-23 in 2005.

Sold out hmm? Don't surprise me since the Brits use to suck U.S balls for whatever reason.
An anglosaxon carateristic probably who knows...
Anyway i guess their 1st interest will be to ensure the money they'll bet will be in safe hands bcoz i don't know if ya heard the latest but Uncle Sam was a liar bout the loans 'n stuff hence the result : the brits are broke haha.
London a.k.a the city of the Bets sounds nice
On a side note, It wouldn't surprise me if half of the Stadium will be full of germans.
