Title: Rugby vs American Football
Post by: Elano on October 16, 2007, 11:32:31 PM
It's like a neverending story, but i'd like to know what's your thoughts about it.
For the american people "rugby is gay" and is for those who can't make it to the Nfl.....i prefer the rugby not because i'm european but 'cause i think it's more heavy as a sport. The Nfl players play with a fuckin helmet on their head, the rugby players go out from the field with stitches all over the head/face....WHO'S GAY ?  ::)

I'd say Rugby is the more manly sport...not sayin "American Rugby" is a sissy sport by no means...dem Rugby boys dont play...look at the size of them guys its a joke...The NFL defintly has a bigger market for promotion though and is far more lucrative than any of the Rugby governing bodies

imo both borin ass sports....no flow to the game...they both stop like every 10 seconds...watched a bit of NFL last night sayin that...didnt watch the whole game jst wanted to see what the fuss was about

yeah Football all the way. if i said it once i've said it a MILLION times already.  just LET them put a defense from the NFL in the rugby leagues and it's OVER , the rugby squad would be down to their 4th string players. remember there's a reason why there's padding in the NFL.

lol @ saying an NFL defense would destory a rugby team.. honestly though have you ever watched a proper game of rugby? im confident ive seen more nfl games compared to yanks watching rugby.. they are both different games with very different rules the only thing they have in common is that in both sports you get to hitt players hard.. so saying that an nfl defensive line up would take down a rugby team is a stupid comment

yeh i wont knock the fact that pads and helmets do save a person serious injuries from very big hits.. i aint got no problem with the nfl and agree that you's do have monster players in your leagues that would crush 90% of people.. i just dont agree how some people down grade the physicallity of rugby compared to nfl, and try and make it sound less a sport.. so by someone saying that a defensive line could end a rugby team is a poor statement when they dont know a great deal about the game, just because some players may not look as big their counterparts in your sport doesnt mean that they cant take or inflict an extremely hard tackle.

Dumber then this?
do you realize that there would be 1 death per game if there was no padding in football?

Correct me if I'm wrong but arn't blockers in the team for the sole purpose off using there size to protect the quarter back? There ain't no tackle technique needed as you can basically do anything to bring a guy down

that has to be the dumbest quote in the thread

put some pads on son, and see if you can bring a guy running at you with his shoulder lowered and see if u can tackle him without technique.

well if i was as big as the players i could, but what i mean to say is you can trip, elbow sholder anything to bring him down which makes it easier then have rules such as can't tackle above the sholders etc

put some pads on son, and see if you can bring a guy running at you with his shoulder lowered and see if u can tackle him without technique.

take off those pads and try take someone down with there shoulder lowered. its called rugby league.

also everyone on the field has to tackle and get hit in rugby, you cant hide like you can in the NFL.

and more tackles are laid in rugby, look at these stats...

NRL top 5 RND 19 2007 (17 matches)
673 Craig Fitzgibbon
616 Micheal Luck
577 Lincoln Withers
571 Craig Wing
563 Danny Nutley

NFL Top 5 2006 season (16 Matches)
165 Zach Thomas
155 DeMeco Ryans
146 London Fletcher-Baker
143 Keith Bulluck
142 Cato June
