Title: Balance worked with Dr.Dre?
Post by: Chad Vader on November 03, 2007, 01:46:10 PM
Here's a confusing track that I have given me a headache  for a couple of years.
The track goes.....
Quote
"I heard you roll with D.R.E and did Detox...."
"Look bitch I just signed to Reebok. My first single Dre did the beatbox.
Some niggaz drop songs,I drop heat rocks.
Me and Dre ain't even met yet,a 22 young Ice Cube's call me a Death threat."

Here's the track so you can check it yourself;

12 Balance - Palm Trees, OGs, And Gangstas (BalanceSkillz.com) you know where to find rest of the mix-tape....

First he have "worked" with him, then he he says they haven't met yet,WTF? Ha,ha....
I know he post here,so maybe he can clear that shit up.
Dope rhyme by the way.

It wouldn't be abnormal if they've worked with each other even though they haven't met personally. It's perfectly normal these days for artists to record their parts (vocals, verses, beats) on separate locations. Afterwards they send the parts to each other and mix the whole thing into a song.

True, but does Dre work this way?

Yeah, that's the thing that causes confusion. Dre is indeed known for being in the studio with the artist at the time of recording so that he can make sure the verses are delivered the way he wants it to sound like.
Would be cool if Balance cleared that up...

I mean when they actually record the final version,he produce and coach the vocals to right?
The definition of producing is kind of blurry these days. Check the Terrance Martin interview on the front page about this issue.

sorry Chad, can't help you with this, but i do know that Dre isn't always in the studio with the artists; i believe Mack 10's Hate In Yo Eyes was created that way but i'm not sure ( although there are probably more examples, like Hustlers).
