Title: The Roots To Release New Album April 29
Post by: Laconic on November 07, 2007, 02:03:06 PM
The Roots will release their new album "Rising Down" April 29, their second release on Def Jam Records.

The album's title is inspired by a literary piece called "Rising Up and Rising Down" by William T. Vollmann.

Recording on the album is said to be completed although final details are currently under wraps. Questlove spoke to Billboard.com earlier this year about the release:

"We are using a lot of synthesizer, but I don't know if I could call this the electronic album or not," Thompson says. "Pretty much five or six songs are done, and four of them are synth-heavy...I know somehow I'm going to find the common thread of all this stuff," Thompson offers. "I don't know what to call it, but it's something."

"Rising Down" is the group's 8th full length release.

I think it's a very solid record.  I liked the political direction they took and I suspect the new one will be similar.

Yeah, I wasn't too into it at first, it took some time to sink in. There weren't too many stand out tracks on it, but it was very solid, the Roots always come through. That track they did for J Dilla "Can't Stop This" was crazy.

I dunno. I thought Roots' last album was kinda boring. Everything sounded the same except for Can't Stop This (which was actually a Dilla beat, so...)
