Title: GZA (Wu-Tang) Releasing New Album "Protools" On January 8
Post by: Damien J. on November 15, 2007, 04:01:13 AM
GZA aka The Genius, born Gary Grice, will release his new solo album "Protools" January 8th. The Genius is a member of the legendary Wu-Tang Clan. The LP will feature guest appearances from by RZA, Raekwon, Mos Def, Killah Priest, Sean Price and more. Production will be supplied by RZA, Nottz and DJ Muggs.
GZA“s last solo album "Legend Of The Liquid Sword" was released December 10, 2002. The album is named after the kung fu film of the same name. Many fans will argue whether or not this album was a sincere effort on GZA's part due to the time of the release and the less commercial appeal. GZA focuses on the politics of record labels and expresses his issues in dealing with record companies over artistic goals in music. The album has been praised for being GZA's consistent fan appreciated lyrics, yet accused of having "bland" production, which is often argued.

So Grandmasters isn't considered a solo anymore? Why, because he had DJ Muggz to supply all of the beats? I don't get what that whole part about The Legend Of The Liquid Sword has to do with his new album anyway, but I'm surely looking forward to hearing it. GZA has always been one of the best out.

I think among hip hop heads and outside of that he is overshadowed by the likes of Meth, Ghost, etc. because they have always had more of a spotlight on them.  So he is underrated because of this shadow...that's all.

Grandmasters was a great fucking album, and it was a solo w/ Muggs on the boards.  Great album.  Looking forward to hearing some new shit from GZA.
