What are your guys thoughts on these 2 albums 1 year later? Good, bad it's all good. Just a couple random thoughts from me on both.
Doctor's Advocate
The production is still as fresh as the first day
Game's storytelling on Ole English and One Night are dope as fuck
I am probably the only person that liked Bang with DPG. One of Jelly Roll's better beats.
That beat for Lookin At You is one of the best to kick off a album.
Blue Carpet Treatment
LAX grew on me alot since the first couple times I listened to it. Better if it was dropped in the summertime.
Round Here is the SHIT.
The Dre beats were dope IMO. Alot more piano driven loops and organs.
Candy is the shit in the clubs. This whole album had some really dope beats.
Looking at how much Timbaland has dominated the charts this year, I think Snoop missed a surefire hit for the radio and clubs with Can I Get A Light. God damn that beat still bangs.
-
i love bpth albums... and BANG is one of the dopest songs on that cd,... kurupt n game ripped it...

Sounds great in a system. Game and DPG make some dope music together. Doctor's Advocate is a true west coast album. Both albums really IMO.
-
I def like Dr advocate better.
-
Dr advocate i thought was better but the song with snoop and dre was dope to
-
Both dope albums, props to Game & Snoop

Co-sign 360. I didn' tlike one night beat though or round here really. Rest was ight.
-
when they came out i was feelin SNoops album more but now its switched, i barely play the SNoop album but it had some cuts on it
-
Both albums are very mediocre. Especially DA. The Game is such a boring rapper. His voice, flow, always the same, always boring. Embarrassing that people actually like his music.
Snoops album wasn't good at all, Dre's beats were bad. A few good cuts.
The releases this year weren't much stronger though. Guilty By Affiliation is 100x better then both albums put together.
-
I reckon the snoop album is dope and has a bunch of dope tracks, i don't think any tracks are wack but in my opinion it had too many average tracks like, u get awesome tracks like crazy, vato, thats that, candy, boss's life etc then hella average ones like the last track like umm the one wit jamie foxx etc and I actually like the jamie foxx song but it is too all over the place in my opinion, but still enjoyable
Game's album on the other hand is consistent as fuck nearly every track is dope as fuck, Only track I really ever skip is the one wit jamie foxx not really feelin the kinda deep track to the bitch as its also hard to follow
Overall I reckon Game's album is crazy and we'll be a personal classic to me, blue carpet treatment is real dope too but almost feels like a compilation rather than an album
ps I loved the track wit dpg and game on DA!
-
Both dope albums, props to Game & Snoop
-
DA is still the shit. BCT has gotten pretty boring. The Dre beats were heavily overrated.
-
Good thread, I just happened to listen to both last week and the result is obvious: DA is much better:
a) Snoop --> he killed the album lyrically, some great storytelling as welll. The main problem is that the album is too long, with 22 tracks it's all over the place. Actually I love first 12 tracks, the album sounds great from the intro to Round Here. But then there's the whole I'm-gonna-please-die-hard-westcoast-fans fase. Super wack features, with 5 rappers on each song, with some of the most amateurish production I've ever heard Snoop on. I only like 2 tracks in the 2nd half; I Wanna Fuck You and Imagine. Dre and Timbo both didn't gave their A game.
b) Game --> great album, the production is amazing, groundbreaking. I don't know where Game gets the money or how he recoups from Kayne, Will.I.Am, Swizzy, J.R., Just Blaze, Scott Storch and let's not forget that tracks with Timbaland, Cool N Dre and Dre didnt make the cut. Despite having so many producers, the album is cohesive, except 2,3 tracks. These are Wouldn't Get Far, Bang and Around The World. If only Game put few of those 6 leftover tracks on the album, instead of those 3, it would be a classic.
BTW I always thought that Why You Hate The Game was overrated and didn't suit Game's style as much as Nas, however, I was driving home yesterday, I was alone and it was night and the song came one. The last few mintues where it's only the choir and Just Blaze speaking just gave me chills. Perfect track to end the album, Game gets mad props for that.
-
b) Game --> great album, the production is amazing, groundbreaking.
i respect your opinion about game's album, but explain to me why you said that the production is groundbreaking?
-
Both albums are bangin, couple of weak tracks on both though. "Get A Light" would've been big as a single & "California Vacation" too...
-
Those were the last two big budget records from the west and it's been long time!
Next big album should be Cube's, fingers crossed (Westside Style)
-
i respect your opinion about game's album, but explain to me why you said that the production is groundbreaking?
ok i got -1, but back it up if you can. sure, i think some of the producers did a good job of mixing older with newer production styles ( like JR did on california vacation), but none of them came up with a whole new style. lower my karma level all you want, but there is no way you can deny it.

-
I am listening to these albums for first time last night. Dr Advocate is very nice. It has dope for beats. Snoopy Doggs Blue Carpet Treatment was nice too. No so much nice as Games albums.

so which of these tracks have groundbreaking production?
If you actually think I lowered your carma because you said that the production is not groudbreaking think again. I wasn't even home untill now, some Game groupie probably did that. It's just your opinion, why would I got through the trouble of lowering your karma ?
Which beats are groundbreaking ? Da Shit, Compton, Remedey, One Night, Old English, DA, Cali Vacation, Why You Hate The Game. Ok, so maybe the term groundbreaking is not correct because it was mainly old school beats turned into your modern sound. But the fact remains that the production was top notch.
-
no only my first post was referring to you; the 2nd was referring to the "Ghost". i already figured out you wouldn't do something like that, you're a respected member around here.
Ok, so maybe the term groundbreaking is not correct because it was mainly old school beats turned into your modern sound.
yep that's a better way to describe it.
-
Both are real dope albums. There's some cuts on both (though more on Blue Carpet) that could've benefitted from some refinement, but overall they're dope. If I were to rank them, Game would take the cake this time around: the tracks on DA that are supbar compared to the rest don't fall behind very much at all, and there's a bagful of excellent tracks. Snoop's record has some tracks towards the end I sometimes skip completely and some that should've been worked on a bit more, but the average quality is still high. Much because of the many standout tracks on there: Round Here, Crazy, Vato, I Need a Light... plus Conversations, which in addition to being a dope ass track, has the dopest ending line: "Now that's tabernacle, chuuch." It's the perfect way to end a track like Conversations, it wraps up the album in a dope ass way and it sounds exactly like "something Snoop Dogg would say". That line is the "amen" of a prayer and the "the end" of a story, molded perfectly to fit the orator in question.
-
i Like Both Albums!!
I can play both back to back!!
For Snoops, it Shows that he Can take a walk down the "Doggystyle" era, if He wants To..
However, He can still cater for todays fans as Well!
Lyrically just as Timbo The King Pointed Out, Snoop was On Point for most of The Songs! His flow, voice and rhymes were Tite!!!
Dre?? Dre gave Snoop sum Nice Dope Beats,
Folks can argue all Day!
But I guess it's a person decision of Mine!!!
It should Dre's versatility!!
The Game's Album DA
Is Dope!!
I'm A Fan Of Game, so it was Nice To hear What he Had TO Say..
Though Him Droppin Dre's Name every now and then ,got quite annoying at times!
The Beats on His Album were Raw, they fitted his vocal delivery and lyrics to The T
Now all that will happen now,is to see which direction both these Artist will take....
-
yeah i thought both albums were dope.
But like somebody said, snoops album has
to many filler tracks. The first half is dope
Then the middle i thought was mainly straight
trash. Then the last 2 tracks were real dope.
Games album was dope all the way trough.
Only two tracks i didnt feel much, which were,
the one wit jaime fox and the one wit DPG.
-
Bang is The dopest to bump in the ride... And Imagine is still classic... I keep replaying the Intro on The blue carpet treatment... Cat killed it.
-
when they came out i was feelin SNoops album more but now its switched, i barely play the SNoop album but it had some cuts on it
-
The first half of Snoop's album has alot of replay value to me but the 2nd half I skip through most of it. I have been doing that on his last 2 albums. Doctor's Advocate I can pretty much bump all the way through.
-
Doctor's Advocate I think for me the producers stepped up they skills for that album. JR Rotem, Jelly Roll, EP, etc had beats you could have sworn Dre did. Not to say it is on par with Life After Death but it reminded me of the producers that did beats for that. It had a polished, throwback, clean sound to it. Like I said earlier, Round Here is the shit. Layered perfectly by Dre, and in a good system this song BANGS. LAX grew on me alot, so did I Bitch I Knew.
-

yea i actually like bang 2 and i didnt get all the hate on it
-
I bought both of these ablums last year on the days they came out...
Doctor's Advocate I thought was bangin' from beginning to end since the day I bought it, not one track I ever skipped on it... Blue Carpet Treatment I thought was dope as fuck but there was 2 or 3 songs that weren't really me, or I didn't bump much, but now I bump the ENTIRE album, every song...
Game and Snoop both did their thing 8)
-
Is anyone anticipating Snoop's upcoming album actually?
-
Is anyone anticipating Snoop's upcoming album actually?
I am, even though the first single not my cup of tea doubt that the album is gonna be full of "Sexual Eruption" type songs lol

Do you know if it has some Dre tracks on it? Even though i don't really like Dre nowadays, they make a great collabo.
-
I think "The Blue Carpet Treatment" is still dope, but if I could change tha tracklist, it would be like this:
1. "Intrology" (feat. George Clinton)
2. "Think About It"
3. "Crazy" (feat. Nate Dogg)
4. "Vato" (feat. B-Real)
5. "That's That Shit" (feat. R. Kelly)
6. "Candy (Drippin' Like Water)" (feat. E-40, MC Eiht, Goldie Loc, Daz & Kurupt)
7. "Get A Light" (feat. Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley)
8. "Gangbangn 101" (feat. The Game)
9. "Boss' Life" (feat. Akon)
10. "LAX" (feat. Ice Cube)
11. "Real Talk"
12. "Round Here"
13. "A Bitch I Knew"
14. "Like This" (feat. Western Union, Latoiya Williams & Raul Midón)
15. "Which One Of You" (feat. Nine Inch Dix)
16. "I Wanna Fuck You" (feat. Akon)
17. "Don't Stop" (feat. War Zone & Kurupt)
18. "Wanna Bz" (feat. Young Jeezy & Nate Dogg)
19. "Life" (feat. The Emotions)
20. "Imagine" (feat. Dr. Dre & D'Angelo)
21. "Conversations" (feat. Stevie Wonder)
-
I would even add My Peoples to that list also.
-
"Life" is dope as hell, one of my favorite Snoop's tracks, I can't understand why they ain't put it on tha album... ???
-
bumped both these albums front to back on the iPod earlier 8)
-

I think Snoop just tries to get as much material on his album as possible. His advances of his albums are dope as fuck. Probably alot of the doper cuts are cut by the record label. I don't know, he always has 3 to 5 tracks like that, that don't make it.

imo Long gone would fit perfectly on the blue carpet treatment. Snoop wanted to go back to his roots after all ;) the track is basically G-funk production with a modern twist; Mr.Porter did a good job.
-
I was bangin those albums all through the winter
