the only albums i got around to checking this year were dogg chit and back b4 you're lonely. i also wanted to cop sick jacken/muggs album and guilty by affiliation and digital smoke(that get it track bumps).
what's most urgent? i need to catch up. i keep saying i'm going to cop albums that come out but i never get around to going and copping them and basically just listen to my older albums i already have.

THE TRUTH!!!
Add the free podcasts from Khayree on itunes then you're set.
The only album you HAVE to buy from 2007 is WC's.
There's a couple of average albums like Soopafly's and the RBX album if you got extra cash to spend.
Yeah WC dropped a fucking solid album. I also really liked "Digital Smoke," that's definitely worth buying, and so is Tangled Thoughts/Kurupt "Philly 2 Cali."

me to! I keep hearing shit about this album. Im downloading it right now off of albumhunt to check it out. I have read 7 reviews for the album and every single review said the album was brilliant and a instant classic. I cant wait to check this out!
-
WC's album is the best release this year, and the best westcoast album in the last 2 years. Buy that, you'll be listening to it for months. Try "Sunday School" if your a Suga Free fan, a great release from him. He don't need Quik.
-
the number one album that u should get out of whats been said, is DJ Muggs vs Sick Jacken album.
Trust me that album can be considered a classic a couple years from now.
No lie, i listened to the whole album like an hour ago for the 50th time.
If u want a dope underground album thats dark, then this is it. Its a crazy ass album wit dope beats and lyrics.
Its been getting great reviews everywhere.
For sure u should check it out.

Mistah F.A.B. - Da Baydestrian
Messy Marv & Mitchy Slick - Messy Slick
J. Wells & Kurupt - Digital Smoke
WC - Guilty By Affiliation
Mr. Criminal - Ryder Muzik (check califarap.net to order)
and probably Big Squeeze, it has a few dope cuts and is listenable all the way through

Only 2 albums worth getting (from the West) this year
Suga Free
WC
all the rest was mediocre at best. I can't believe people write Dogg Chit as a must.

Man that dj muggs vs Sick Jacken album shits on both those albums.
Dont get me wrong though, that WC album was nice, but it aint nothing compared to the dj muggs vs sick jacken album.
but i agree wit the dogg chit.
-
Don't get me wrong, people, Dogg Chit was a cool album, it was ok, and had a few bangers. But there was nothing speical about it, other than about 4 or 5 songs. The rest was medioce, and uninspired..
That's why I didn't consider it a must-have, that's all.

It's all good, I don't listen to albums with your ears and vice versa and there is nothing wrong with that. I personally thought it was a good album. Album of the year? No. Muggs & Jacken & Blu Exile take that for me, but IMO I liked it.
-

thats wassup eddie, better late than never...
it just shows the west coast hip hop in a whole different light...
an album that is actually lyrical, but at the same time very meaningful...you can kinda just zone out while listening to this cd, and just immerse yourself in the music.
for me, its easily a top 10 west coast cd since dre 2001.
hope all of you get a chance to check it out someday.

http://www.dubcnn.com/connect/index.php?topic=151440.0
I made a thread about the album but a few people seemed interested in :'( ;D... 4 real it's a great album.. cop Evidence and WC albums too ... these are the only 3 WC albums which got heavily rotations from me .. sadly that's the usual amount of dope WC albums (between 3-5) a year since the 1999-2001 era ...
-
Here's my picks (I picked a lot but they're all dope, trust me):
Blu & Exile - Below the Heavens
Evidence - The Weatherman LP
Strong Arm Steady - Deep Hearted
Custom Made - Heavy Traffic
Terrace Martin - Signal Flow
G. Malone & Blu Division - The Electric Chair
Taje - Hot Box The Second Hit
Dubb - Hoodz Finest Vol. 1, Vol. 2, Mr. White
Meech Wells - The New West World Order
Topic's mixtape
Roccett - Colors
Butch Cassidy & Damizza - Back B4 You're Lonely
Snoop Dogg Presents The Big Squeeze
Bishop Lamont - N*gger Noize & CaLTROiT
Pacific Division - Blendtape
^^^Not sure if Pac Div's Blendtape came out this year but this year is when I found it but it's dope as hell anyway. 8)
-
Best records this year from the west IMO
Dogg Pound - Dogg Chit
WC - Guilty By Affiliation
Snoop Dogg Presents The Big Squeeze
Kurupt & J. Wells - Digital Smoke
Terrace Martin - Signal Flow
Not a really good year for the west :-\

yup forgot to mention digital smoke and signal flow..
terrace going to bring a new sound to the west too... some of the shit hes working on, is going to blow y'all minds.. hes bringing some actual musicianship to the west coast...
digital smoke was just a dope record for the west. really good production. j wells one of the leaders of the pack for the new producers... and he does it so well, a very cohesive sound throughout the whole album..

I have to admit, it took me a while to get into Digital Smoke. I guess it's because I'm more into Battlecat/Amplified/Terrace/Meech type productions while J.Wells has his own style but it's still on that West Coast tip. That track "Smokin" is my favorite off that album, James DeBarge killed the chorus & the Y.A. crew was tight on there too.
I was also going to mention Convinced's I Did It For the People album but I wasn't sure if people were going to know what it was but I got it off here from DUBCNN. The songs he did on that album are off the chain & his freestyle on ZombieRadio.net was one of the best there on the show next to Mykestro's & Topic's.

That's true, it's people like Shame, Pacific Division, Custom Made, & Murs that tend to get slept on the most but they have had some of the tightest songs that have come out this year.

That is why it is funny to me when people say the west coast fell off and I can name at least 5-10 dope underground albums per year that come out that most have narcalepsy on out here. It's like if it ain't gangsta rap or affiliated with it, it gets no spins. That is why it is cool to have outlets like Dubcnn promoting and supporting groups like PD, Murs, Convinced, Dirty Birdy, Lunch, etc. BTW, has anyone checked out Lunch's new album? I can't find that album anywhere in stores.

^Damn that's a shame because he's just as tight as Crooked I, if not better, at times. But judging from the singles that have been released so far, it seems like Ice Cube is gonna have a hella strong album just off of the "Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It" single. Both him & WC have been dropping hot lava albums since '06. 8)

Yeah Ice Cube is doing it big right now. No label politics, no delays. Just drops a album when he wants to. That new single is CRAZY.

Yeah, I hope so too. "Sexual Eruption" grown on me and I think itīs a good lead single to sell records, but I finally wanna hear some classic Snoop Doggy Dogg shit like back in the day or at least some G-Funkish vibe like that "Crazy" cut from "TBCT". I think Snoop will put out a good album. Maybe not the best of 08, but definitely something special and fresh

^Yup, 08 will be even better. You got Dre with Detox, Warren G, Ice Cube, The Game, Butch Cassidy, Juice, Roccett, Topic, Glasses, Bishop, Jay Rock, K.Dot, Dogg Pound, Murs, Terrace Martin, Warzone, Westurn Union, all of those cats droppin' next year. The West can't lose unless either they get pushed back or no ads whatsoever. I would also say Crooked I but I don't know when that will actually drop.
You forgot about Snoop ;)
^Yeah Snoop too. I just hope the rest of the album isn't on a "Sexual Eruption" type vibe. I mean, "Sexual Eruption" is cool but I was expecting the singles to be something more like TBCT.
No doubt, it should be cool. Plus he won't have any guests on it so it'll just be him rappin' like on most of Doggystyle. 8)

Yeah Ice Cube is doing it big right now. No label politics, no delays. Just drops a album when he wants to. That new single is CRAZY.
That's the crazy thing, both him & WC are independent & they're still able to get radio play & ads in magazines and all that. But it's a shame Mack 10 & them don't talk & do music together no more. It must be on some real personal shit.

Best records this year from the west IMO
Dogg Pound - Dogg Chit
WC - Guilty By Affiliation
Snoop Dogg Presents The Big Squeeze
Kurupt & J. Wells - Digital Smoke
Terrace Martin - Signal Flow
Not a really good year for the west :-\

But I hope he will have a track with Nate on the hook or at least use some samples for the chorus

Yeah I still don't know what the deal is on that. I have a feeling even without Mack 10 we might get another WSC album. Either with the 2 of them or a mystery 3rd member. Maybe it's a pipe dream I don't know.

Everybody should check out Mr. J Medeiros' album Of Gods and Girls. Great music, great lyrics, etc.

Someone jacked my Pacific Division so I am going to have to get that one back.
haha, here it is, http://www.zshare.net/download/37237807dcb11e/
D. Black - the Blend Tape actually came out maybe in late 05 or early 06... i dont even remember, its a little bit older, but most people are just getting into it now anyways, so its *new*. haha. Blend Tape 2 should be coming out really soon..
on another note, since i found out that you live in long beach... i wanted to get your opinion on something... do you think that its mostly the dubcc/dubcnn community that is still caught up in the old DPG kurupt daz stuf? and that they are hard to give new/fresh acts a try?... or do you think that kinda applies to like the actual city of LA as well.. I mean I can clearly see that youre up on LA music, and was surprised that you knew about cats like blu, U-n-i... like are all your friends into these groups as well? I just wanted to gauge the LA scene kind of.. from the perspective of someone that actually lives in the area...

It seems like most of the people I know from here in the LBC are still into old DPG/Death Row like The Chronic, Doggystyle, Dogg Food but also DJ Quik, Dr. Dre, & classic N.W.A. & D.O.C. shit. Like a month ago, I was talking to a homie of mine & he said The Game is his favorite new artist which isn't bad but when I came up with other new peoples' names from the West Coast like Glasses & Bishop he had heard of them but hadn't heard any of their music. I think the problem is just getting exposure to the artists through mp3 or touring or whatever but the names are starting to get out there.
And I can't wait for that Blend Tape 2 to come out, they rock every beat they get their hands on. 8)

Outside of DJ Muggs & Sick Jacken, Evidence and Blue & Exile (Good looking Justin for putting me on to that) there wasn't another West Coast retail release that really sparked my interest this year. Mixtape wise, Ya Boy held it down with The Fix and The Rise. Bishop and Black Milk's CalTroit. A few others...
