Rapper Jay-Z dissing the dollar
Wads of dollar bills are usually as much a part of rap videos as fast cars, diamond-encrusted jewellery and scantily-clad models.
But in an apparent nod to the low value of the dollar, rapper Jay-Z's new video Blue Magic features another currency.
He is seen cruising the streets of New York in Bentleys and Rolls Royces (now owned by Germany's Volkswagen and BMW) with a briefcase of 500 euro notes.
It follows reports that the supermodel Gisele Bündchen also favours euros.
The catwalk star's twin sister and manager Patricia told Bloomberg in September that: "Contracts starting now are more attractive in euros because we don't know what will happen to the dollar."
The US currency has been ticking off historic lows over the past few months as falling US interest rates make other currencies more attractive.
It recently passed $2.10 to the pound, reached parity with the Canadian dollar and set an all-time record of $1.4752 to the euro.
Other more conventional market-watchers have also been snubbing the dollar, including the billionaire investor Warren Buffett.
There have been no suggestions that Jay-Z's fellow rapper 50 Cent could be considering a move into a different currency.

This son of a bitch is worth 300 million dollars and he got the balls to bitch about the dollar value ?
FUCK OFF
-
"the Pound is stronger than the Dollar, Holla"
does he not relise that he needs to use Dollars to pay for stuff in the US??
-
you realize that he realizes that a euro may be converted for more u.s. dollars, which means he can buy more stuff in the u.s.?

hey look common sense! woo.
-
the pound is strong. 50 could make the move to being 50 pence before his next album drops 8)
-
He should stop worrying about euro's and start working on trying to revive his career or just fuck off and leave because his last 2 albums have been pure puke.

how does that work? exchange rates are the same in each country... eg $100 = 67.57EURO = $100...

But if he's pay in euro first he'll get more

^^exactly right.. es-jay, dunno if you're following the news but the u.s. dollar is also declining in relation to pretty much every other currency. his money would be losing value almost daily if it were in USD. instead of getting 65.57 euros for $100 today, he may only get 65.17 tomorrow - which is a huge difference if we're talking about millions

Well he's about 20p at current exchange rates

This news piece is stupid, they're making something out of nothing. So what the dude had €'s is the Blue Magic video? They didn't even ask dude himself about it.
Plus they threw that random-ass mention about 50 Cent in there. Not just bad journalism, but STUPID journalism.

i kno this has nothin 2 do with tha topic buuuuuuuuut... b honest with yourself like alot of people on these boards should. wen u make a substancial amount of $ your mind and soul changes. your determination and work ethic (at wateva u do) changes DRASTICALLY (and i cant stress that word enuff). It's like EVERYBODY on tha internet has something 2 say about a rapper or a producer or basically WHOEVER's in tha limelight whether they're black or white or green. People (celebrities) ALWAYS talk about it and people "claim" they agree but then make comments like u just did. last year that bama made 34mill, not includin tha years before that and this year and NEXT year, is it possible 2 even give tha same fuck as tha "reasonable doubt" jigga. and wat makes it worse is that "American Gangster" is his best most solid thoro album since "reasonable doubt" and EVERYBODY ON THE INTERNET (keep that in mind) isnt feelin it or has somethin 2 say, like dude wat tha fuck more do u want from an album. i aint no Jay Z dickrider and NEVER have been but if today you were 2 play "The Chronic" and "American Gangster" back 2 back you would b amazed of how good tha quality of this album is. Both have tha same concept and both use live instruments (which is pointless 2 wat im sayin i know) but 2 some it all up, its VERY similar (*at this time please remove Dre's dick out your mouth*) stop (EVERyBODy) complainin and APPRECIATE tha music, thats wats missin in Hip Hop is that, and we need 2 bring that TO THE GAME and everybody will realize wats good.
i've grown up on Def Jam (since tha beggining), death row, roc, cash money, no limit, all that good shit, jimmi hendrix, pink floyd, nirvana, if u wana look at it from a MUSICAL point of view and I'm telllin u, git rid of those childish emotions and appreciate GOOD music, especially if u cant even make GOOD music yourself.
