Daily Hip-Hop News:
The Source for Sale?
After being the #1 Hip-Hop magazine for more than a decade, founder David Mays is putting The Source Magazine and its properties up for sale. The price tag? According to Urban Expose, the lucky purchaser will have to shell out a nice $100 million for the property which includes the magazine, the annual Source Awards, and two weekly television programs, The Source Soundlab and The Source: All Access, which air on the African Heritage Network.
There's no word on why Mays has decided to sell the magazine at the pinnacle of its success, but in the past the publication has had its share on controversies. Including the instances involving Boston Hip-Hop group Made Men (formerly Almighty RSO), which Mays manages. In one incident, an extra mic was inadvertently placed in a review of Made Men's last album, pushing it to a 4.5 mic rating, a rating that was not agreed on by the staff, causing some of them to leave the publication.

Hello Dre....u want to buy a mag?????
-
lol wouldn't that be somthing to have the tables turned on the source....
but really whoever buys it should do this just call the old source "the source east" and make another one called "the source west" and "the source south" and one big one with all the good shit from each of those into one magazine for people who listen to more than one style of rap
-
this could be really BAD
or really GOOD
on one hand a business man with a lot of money who also happens to love hip hop could buy it and make it dope as hell
on the other hand a businessman with a lot of money could buy it for the sole purpose of making more money and fuck it up worse than it already is...
i hope its the first one

I don't think that would be a good idea cause then some groups would be left out. But I think it would be cool if they had sections all in 1 album on the West, East, South and international acts. In those sections they could put out ratings and reviews from artisrs in those particular region. It would be tight.
We should all pitch in and buy The Source, fire all the editors and do that shit ourselves.
